"Am not." Lex balked, giving Claude a light shove to the shoulder.

"You so are." Claude replied, leaning to lightly bump her shoulder back into Lex. "Alexei Jamil, leashed." She stated flatly, and her lips then quirked up briefly in a smirk. "So...when do I get to meet your keeper?"

Lex wanted to gag. Leashed? What a terrible way to put it. "We can't all stay rampant forever." Lex replied, smiling nonetheless. Despite his initial reaction, he was a little glad to have Claude back. "..you have been keeping yourself safe, yes?" He coughed, quickly moving to the next topic.
"You can meet Ami... soon, I hope. There may be an event, if you understand my meaning." The older sibling spoke softly, almost as if embarrassed as he pulled out a velvet black box.
Please God don't let her be loud about this.lucyal I'm so sorry omg ;; this shouldn't have taken so long work has just had me really depressed and i finally kicked myself into getting back to RP

"Challenge accepted." Claude uttered under her breath, but she then leveled a look at her brother, complete with a wide upward arc of her brow. "And what ever do you mean by safe, Alexei?" She inquired in a raised pitch, wondering what exactly he was implying by using the word 'safe'-- Oh. But wait. Claude turned now, so that she was angle more towards Lex, and just stared. First at him, and then at the velvet black box. First initial reaction? Annoyance. She hadn't even met the girl yet and he was going to propose to her!? Then, of course, she was thinking logically. Time did pass, even if she wasn't here to share it with him. That reminder briefly dug up that sadness she felt at being cut out of his life for two years, but just as quickly as it came up Claude immediately kicked it down. Her gray eyes lifted to his again. "So whipped." Carhop Cavalier omg THAT'S TOTALLY OKAY CAR YOU TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED <3

Well, that went a whole lot better than Lex had expected. He still shot the younger sibling a look of sheer contempt, shaking his head. He was not whipped. "Don't be jealous that I filled the whole in my chest. Green isn't a good color on you, Claude." He retorted with a sly smile, passing her the velvet box while opening it, revealing the ring inside.
"Spanish make, set inside rubies. Small, understated, subtle but carries an aura of elegance and refinement. Perfect for her and I." Lex cooed airily, eyes glazed over. Maybe they'd even get married in Spain...

"No, red is my color...besides, green is more suited for you." She shot him a smirk, which faded as she took the box. She eyed it with a bit of disinterest before she finally opened it, and looked it over. Claude was idly listening as he spoke. A few moments after he was done, she stared at the ring for a bit longer before she snapped the top closed and handed it back to him. "You? Elegant and refined?" She echoed, a brow arching. She let that hang into the air before she shook her head a bit. "Never thought I'd see the day." She murmured in earnest.

Lex rolled his eyes in a way only an older sibling could, slowly shaking his head with a sighed smile lighting his face. The bickering, the teasing, the needless jabs and loving insults. He had missed Claude, now that she was back in his life.
"Envy is not my cardinal sin, dear sister." The man chuckled, stuffing the little box into his coat pocket. "I fear we share the same..." He coughed, reclining back now, staring up at the dank sky. "Was finding me really your only reason for coming here?"

An honest smile pulled at Claude's lips at that retort. It was so nostalgic of older times. Before all of this. Of what she had missed so much. "Yes. It's a tie between pride and lust." She teased further, before her smile immediately fell afterwards. At the question, Claude's eyes shifted from her older brother back towards the jungle, and she rested her elbows on her knees. The young woman was silent, contemplative, and her long fingers took to twisting one of the many rings on her fingers. "Yes." She answered after a moment, but had more to say on the matter. "And because that was my only reason, I know I'm stuck at the moment." Claude trailed off for a moment, and being alone with Lex, away from prying eyes and ears, made that rough and sarcastic exterior temporarily crack to reveal the soft and insecure one underneath. "Life stopped for me after you disappeared, Lex. I stopped playing volley ball, I stopped attending classes, and I just stopped doing a lot of things. You'd been such a...integral part of my life, that when you dropped off without a word, I didn't know what to do anymore." She stopped playing with her ring and instead clasped her hands together, but kept her stare straight ahead on some palm leaves. "I need to be independent, now." Not saying she needed to cut him out or not rely on him. They were siblings, so she knew she always could, but she had a feeling he'd get what she was saying. She needed to learn how to move forward on her own now, and not because she was following in his steps.

Lex's easy posture and light smile faded as quickly as a flash flood, his back rigid and face tight. He had always known that to Claudia, Lex was an idol, a starship, the big Lebowski of their home. He'd not known the extent of her hero worship until now, however.
It pained him to know he was in part responsible for driving Claude into such a depression. He'd always guarded her (or tired his damn best), talked with her, been her friend as she was to him. Lex rubbed the bridge of his nose, groaning quietly. How could he have just dropped her like he did? He thought she'd be okay... she had Mom, and her dad. She had friends and boys and clubs to go ot. She wouldn't miss him too much, would she?
Lex's calculations had been dead wrong. Claudia, the volleyball star and darling of academia (and academic beds), wrecked like the Titanic. Lex cleared his throat, sliding a hand over her wrung ones. "I'm sorry." He murmured, throat scratchy. "I shouldn't have dropped you the way I did. I'm glad you're here now, and I'm glad you're moving forward."
Then, silence.

It was conflicting, because she didn't want to be having this talk with him. She didn't want this awkwardness, this...laying it out there, but she recognized that she needed to. The sincere apology he had just given her was what she'd been wanting when she first woke up, but now that she had it...it made her feel embarrassed. She didn't want him to be in that situation, but it was just how it played out. She filled the silence. "Yeah." One hand unwound to rest on his that was resting on hers. "I am too." She was sorry, too. She was glad, too. She was moving forward, too. Slowly. She turned a bit to look at him. "Not the best place to move forward, I know." She dipped her head to acknowledge all the horrible things he felt about this place. "But you make the best of it, right?" It was then she fell silent, and after a moment she squeezed his hand. "I missed you, Lex. I'm glad I found you." Just in case that wasn't clear before, or just in case that message had gotten muddled or tainted by all the other insanity going on at the time she had woken up.

Lex gave a pained chuckle, nodding in agreement with his sister. "No, certainly not the best place to move forward." What with various threats both human and monster, constant teenage level drama, lack of sleep, insane leaders, and the atmosphere saturated with the inevitability of sudden, painful death. Lots of s**t happened to them, like being turned into horsemen by a psychotic Priestess, or being cloned, or even just being put into a dream state wherein you collaborated with Halloween creatures to fight other kingdoms of color.
Yes, Deus was a terrible place to move forward. Would you grow? Certainly. They would not have time to enjoy and reflect on their growth, however. [coalor=darkgreen]"Just make sure I don't end up missing you." Lex whispered, nudging the girl with his free elbow. If she died before him, he would... he would...
He wouldn't think about it. It wasn't going to happen.
