Kusari only partially connected, and made the mistake of trying to stay in close as he pivoted. The sword cleaved deep into his side, and blood loss was turning into as much of a factor as exhaustion. He knew he had to end this quick or he was done for, and he lashed out with a punch for Donnovan's face while holding onto the chain of his weapon.

The blow did little and the godspawn took this chance to end thing. He balled up his fist and aimed a blow right at the curse's face.

Kusari's last shot was a failure and he had no energy left to avoid retaliation. The punch wasn't much, but it was enough, and he went limp, crumpling to the ground in a pool of blood.
