Claire smiled at Anya gently as the spider Frei gently refused her offer, sympathetic to how tense she seemed to be, and instead she redirected her attention to the paperwork before her. Anything like this came with the necessary paperwork, so Claire had been prepared for signing anything when the time came. She leaned forward and picked up the papers spread out in the file, gathering them together and tapping them on the table as she was used to doing at work, before reclining.
"Thank you. Just give me a minute to read through this here.." Immediately she set to work. Never sign anything without checking over all the information, that was her motto - and a good one too, as her husband was more the impatient sort. At the thought of Aaron, a bubbling excitement rose into her chest at the thought of telling him! What would he say, she wondered, when she presented the bottle and Essence? Perhaps another meeting with Anita would be in order, although she had been very informative during their last outing already. There was so much to do!
A few minutes passed in relative silence, save for a small hum from Claire's side of the room and the shuffle of papers. Finally she smiled, finished with the perusal, and reached for a pen from the side table.
"Is it possible to get a copy of these documents for my records? Or at least to show my husband so he's all well and clear on everything," Claire laughed. "He's already relatively familiar with Raevans from what he's seen at the couple of gatherings we've been to and from what I've told him but it might be nice to have something physical on hand for him to refer to." She signed in the first slot, followed by the second. "We only really know one Raevan and I would love to meet others." Preferably in a more private setting, her mind seemed to finish, but she tripped on valiantly anyway, knowing that might not be the case. "Is there another gathering coming up or..?" She signed the last line and pushed the paper back to Zeke, her smile hopeful, excited.

"Take your time - we're in no rush!" As though making a point, the vet settled in his seat and draped his arm over the couch's. He watched Claire as she read, smiling softly to himself as he did so. This one...He had only the best feelings about her.
As soon as she was done reading the woman went for a pen and it was at that point that Zeke dropped the nonchalant posture in exchange for a straight backed and alert one. Her first question was different to say the least. The vet chuckled and gave her a nod.
"You most certainly can. When I drop the file off at the Lab I'll make you a copy and swing back over to give it to you." Why not? The post would take a couple days and he was already out and about. Why waste the stamp when gas was arguably cheaper? "Want to prove to him that he's not dreaming when you tell him, eh? I can get behind that." He laughed with the blonde woman and winked. "Tell me what time he usually gets home by and I'll make sure I get back here before him!"
When Claire mentioned only knowing one Raevan, the vet naturally tilted his head toward the femme sitting beside him. After all this time was Anastacia really the only Raevan she had met? Usually when one applied to the Lab they started to pop out of the woodwork for people, but Zeke figured a situation like this had to happen at some point. Strange, but not impossible.
"Well, I'm not entirely sure just yet." The vet sucked on his lip ring as he reached for the sheets of paper to look over and sign himself. "There is a chance for a Halloween party, but it's not generally an annual thing so I have no idea just yet."
She had signed in the right spots. Slowly Zeke went through and dated them, then scrawled his name on the blank line at the very bottom. Ezekiel N. Farris it read. Whether or not that could be discerned by untrained eyes was another story.
"I can find out of course, but if we do you'll be getting an invitation to attend regardless." He waggled his brows - automatic party invites were just another perk of being a Guardian with the Lab. Tapping the papers neatly together as Claire had done herself, Zeke slipped them back into their folder and set it off to the side. "Speaking of invites..."
He wedged the same half of the foam in the case free and procured another set of papers. Noticeably, the top right hand corner had something written on it and a few lines had been highlighted in blue. Zeke turned the stapled sheets over to Claire.
"This is the contact list for every Guardian and Raevan in the Lab. Names, addresses, phone numbers - the whole nine." He reached over and tapped the highlighted names. "These ones here are staff members. If you ever have any questions or concerns or what have you, we're always available."

"He gets home at around six, traffic depending." Claire tapped her chin in thought, and she grinned in return at Zeke's quip. "I'm sure he's going to be surprised, definitely, so I could use all the proof I can get my hands on." She was already mulling over how she was going to tell him, and with how well he got on with Cruz, she liked to think that he would be receptive. Truthfully, though, she wondered if he would be disappointed, but she pushed the doubts away. Sure, it was not a human child and who knows how old it would look when it came time for the Raevan to come to their home, but regardless, it would be theirs. Her baby, no matter the circumstances, and her husband knew that.
When Zeke indicated the contact list, a sigh of relief she did not know she was holding escaped her lips. She had been kicking herself for weeks for not getting Duncan's information properly after the beach party, since her mother had been so enthused with the fellow gardener. Anita's name on the list was a welcome sight (even if she already had her number from their previous rendezvous), and surprisingly there was a new name present on the list and she found herself grinning - Aaron would be pleased to hear that Justin was on here. Did that mean what she thought it did?
Regardless, the list gave her a little courage. She had been intimidated at the Boil about talking to Raevans (her short conversations with both Anita and Duncan were stroke of luck, if she were to be honest), but now she had more information. There were people she could ask. She and Aaron weren't alone in this. And again her eyes drifted up to Justin's name. A congratulatory phone call was in order later.
"This is going to be very helpful." Her face felt sore from how hard she was smiling. "I'm so excited for this. Thank you so much for this opportunity, Zeke. You have no idea what it means to me."

"Six huh? I think that'll be doable."
Zeke's gaze was flicked to the clock in the room. It was only quarter of five, so getting to the Lab and back would be no trouble at all. Backroads were a blessing and generally left traffic-free while everyone headed home from work took the freeway. It could be done and it would be done.
As Claire thanked him, Zeke beamed as brightly as could be. He really needn't reiterate his feelings on Claire being chosen, but Zeke being Zeke he couldn't help himself:
"And you have no idea how happy it makes me to see you here now!" Laughter bubbled past his lips once more, his brown eyes bright. The itch to hug the woman tightly and perhaps lift her off her feet for a moment in doing so only grew. Whoever came from the Honey and its bottle cohort, Claire would love them unconditionally. This Zeke knew just from looking at her.
"Before we head out, there's one more thing." He reached out once more and tapped the top right hand corner of the contact sheet, where an address and a phone number had been neatly written down. "This is for a carrier service we're trying out, in order to make things easier on everyone when it comes to getting and returning their bottles and vials. A lot of the time setting up appointments can be a hassle what with busy schedules, so we're giving that out to every new Guardian in the hope that it expedites the process."
Withdrawing his hand, the vet waved it as though brushing off what he had just said.
"But for you I'll make an exception! If you want me to stop by and pick it up or drop the pair off to me, then by all means! You've got my number and I mean...I'll be dying to know what you end up snagging so if anything it'll keep me from watching the post like a hawk!"

"Thanks so much, Zeke," Claire replied. She was still trying to take everything in, the shock of the announcement just starting to lose its edge as their impromptu meeting drew to a close. Already she was mulling over how she was going to tell Aaron when he came home from work. 'Better yet, wait until dinner at Ma's tonight, and tell them together.' A minute nod to herself - that was going to be the plan.
The addedum Zeke added about the courier service was also a good tidbit to know; schedules more often than not conflicted. However, with how light her days at work had been lately, she was suspecting the words "lay off" were in her future - not that that would be a problem financially (Aaron and his father's company saw to their needs beautifully). After all, she had been planning to stop working for a while once her and Aaron had --
She paused the thought to stop any negativity from seeping into this happy occasion.
The opportunity was still here, albeit in a different form. If her boss had to let her go, then that would be more time with her soon-to-be Raevan. Claire's eyes brushed over the silver suitcase again and her heart swelled in anticipation, tempered by the slightest bit of trepidation. 'I need to take a life for this.. but everything has a soul. I'll look at rocks. Rocks won't feel a thing, right?'
Zeke's additional offer of letting her come by personally warmed her; he had proven himself very helpful and friendly in their last meeting, but it felt like he was going above and beyond, and far be it from Claire to ignore that. With their meeting nearly finished off and the appointed six o'clock return approaching, the woman stood and held her hands out to the lab tech.
"Thank you so much for your kind offer. I might just take you up on that." She winked and smiled. "I'll be sure to keep you posted." Her moment with him finished, she turned to Anya, her smile still alight on her lips, as she extended her hand to the spider Raevan. "And it's been wonderful to meet you, Anya. I hope to see you again soon, hopefully when this little one is born." She patted the top of the suitcase fondly.

As Claire stood, Zeke followed suit, though instead of taking the woman's hands he instead stepped around the coffee table that separated them and wrapped his arms around her. His embrace was snug and full, with laughter peppering the stolen moments before the vet let the blonde go.
"If you didn't at least consider it, I'd be awfully hurt." His grin was cheeky and Zeke winked right back at Claire. "You better! I definitely want a text on how your husband reacts!"
Zeke stepped back and it was Anya's turn to feel the effects of the blonde's happiness. She had lofted herself into the air when both humans had stood but she floated there awkwardly, as if she had not fully understood why she had also rose. When Claire extended a hand, Anastacia did not take it, but bobbed her head to the words spoken to her.
"You as well." Their interactions had been brief given the circumstances and Zeke's overarching showmanship so she wasn't sure how well that wording stuck, but Claire was far from unfavorable. She would not be remiss to meet the blonde human again. "I'm sure I'll see you again and your Raevan too. Zeke loves to make sure I meet just about everyone in the Lab."
A bark of laughter came from Zeke at that statement but Anastacia did not see where he derived his humor from. Frowning just a touch, the Frei stared at her man, who grinned that same sunny grin of his right back at her. Anastacia simply shook her head at him.
"It's true!" His laughter was contained to chuckling and the vet gestured toward the front door. "Alright Anya, let's get this show on the road! Claire, I'll send you a text when I'm on my way back. Here's hoping traffic is light, eh?!"
