So she lived 40 miles from Bania on this side of the sea... no reason for her to be familiar. Weird. Especially since it sounded like she wasn't anyone important over here, beyond a new friend from nowhere of the Princess'.But whatever. Moving on....
"Kuh-Nay, Nay... Neigh? Like a horse?" Richard asked, barely containing a smirk. Something about this girl just made him want to see her squirm a little bit.
"Well Nae, as it happens, it sounds like I don't really have any business here at the moment, and therefore nothing to leave me to. The Princess has gone missing you tell me, and I'm supposed to believe everyone is rushing around here just to get a dinner together for me and mine? I think there's a bit of fun to be had around here somewhere if they want to keep me out of their hair."
And on that note, Richard drained the rest of his wine and promptly poured some more.
It was quite good, though not the best, red wine he had ever had, nor the oldest by far.
"You see Nae, I'm not familiar with Bania, and don't appreciate being strung along by these so called allies of mine. And then here you are."
He tipped his glass toward her, before sipping some more.
"Care to keep me company? And keep perhaps, keep me up one whatever the hell is going on here."
Well, what the hell else was he going to do here? Explore, if they would let him... and if they wouldn't. This girl worked somewhere in the castle and at least had access to information, or she wouldn't have known what had happened to the princess so soon... right?
If she wanted to help him for some reason, he could use her... and he thought it might be nice to have her around. Now that the idea of his meeting with the princess being delayed at the least, he definitely wanted to find some new lady friends for his stay.
Whatever worked, worked. He just needed something to do!
"More importantly," he added, "What is there fun to do around here? I'm not the type of Prince that likes to just sit around."

One of Ursula's main rules was to act as flirty as possible without totally giving herself away. She should smile, flip her curls, and giggle. But she was having no trouble being playful with the prince. He made it easy. His charisma was charming and she couldn't help herself.

"You're comparing me to a horse? How charming are you!" Nae giggled. "Yes, I suppose like the noise a horse makes darling." She shook her head, finished off her drink and sighed.
"There is a lot of crap around here, not a lot of fun within the walls." She used the same line on Aruna actually...
"But we always seem to find something to do, I'm sure we could get ourselves into something." She shrugged. He was right, they weren't just making dinner- they were searching high and low.
"I'm basically here to keep you company, sir." Nae met his gaze, but quickly looked away, sliding her glass over to him. "Just a little please?" She watched the waves roll in, her skin pricked in goosebumps. "Also, being your secret informant sounds exciting." She giggled.
"I didn't peg you for being the idle type." Nae stood up, carrying the glass in one hand. She stepped in front of him and pulled him to his feet. "For starters, lemme show you the grand back yard. It's a sight to see for sure. It's like its own little jungle back there." It was beautiful, they could bring the bottle, and they'd get a little chatty... yeah. Perfect.
"Grab the wine." She finished her drink, unsure of whether or not it was a good idea. But she had to show she could hang...
"But I'm leaving the glass if you don't mind getting my... what do you guys call them? Cooties?" Nae giggled, smiling brightly.
I've been so wrapped up in my warm cocoon.,

Aruna was frozen in her position watching the men until a monkey arrived and a man grabbed her. She started running with him as fast as she could and found jeans much more uncomfortable for running than her usual dresses who were spacouus enough to even allow her to run down the stairs to go have lunch with her father. Next time she would wear a dress, or those leggings she used for riding. Those were comfortable too! Fortunately, the councellors had made sure to keep her in shape. A princess needed to have a perfect body that would give out a glorious sight. At least they allowed her to eat, healthy home cooked food of course. Fries and cheeseburgers, or junk food in general would be unknown terms for her. She had only seen it in books, but she was told they were made out of trush and dangerous things and not actually meat. Plus, the oil for the fries was going to make her huge like a whale. These exaggerations seemed to work, as she had stayed away from them and never ordered a servant to bring her any from the city. Of course she would enjoy a big plate of spaghetti, especially if it had mushrooms in the sauce , or a pizza. Yes, even if pizza was considered junk food she would have some every now and then. Her cook was using the finest of igredients to make it divine for her and wasn't putting too much bacon or ketchup, but chicken and homemade tomato sauce and anything else the princess might ask for. Her favorite pizza, which is considered weird by most of her servants is margarita eith extra mushrooms and pineapples. Sometimes people can not understand the sweet and sour taste of th pineapple along with the salty cheese. It is wonderful, but who would believe her? Well, that was better for her.. Her father hated it, so she had all the pizza to herself, unlss her father as requesting haf of it the way he liked it and half of it the way she liked it just to stop his daughter from eating the whole thing.
Once she stopped running with the stranger she found out they were in a clothes store. It had really cheap clothes in there and they were even worse from the clothes she was wearing now. They had no diamonds or real silk and leather...how could people wear them? With a glance around she tried to find just one dress that was like hers, but she wasn't able too. One dress had some glitter onto it , but it only costed 100$..what a shame..it would be much better with swarovski on the shoulder than those fake shimmering rocks.She didn't pay much attention to the rest of the clothes though and turned to look at the guy in front of her "yes, i am alright. Thank you, kind citizen. You shall be rewarded for your bravery " she told him with a perfect accent and being proud, yet polite and with her nose not too high, than other noble women she had meant "I would like to know the name of my savior , along with the name of his obedient spidermonkey fighter. You have done a splendid job in training him." she added, revealing that she could tel a spidermonkey apart from a normal monkey and an ape or chimpanze. Sometimes people were just calling all of them monkeys. They were obviously mistaken. Aruna was choosing her words patiently in order to speak like a true nobble and not a villager, or citizen, or anyone lesser than she was. She made sure everything in her bag was there, then she turned again to the guy " I sure find the city interesting, but i am afraid i have lost my way back home, would you accompany me back to the castle so i can reward you, for your services there, kind citizen?" she asked him again deciding that maybe it would be nice to be friendly with someone outside the casle walls Plus, she owed him for saving her. She would be probably tied in a room right now if it wasn't for him. She would ask for her butler to reward him. He was much better at knwoing the value of money than her, so he should be able to give a reward fit to the reason she would state to persuade him he deserved it. The domineering ❝ XIt's time to see what I can do,

 After Nic asked her if she was okay the girl answered as if she were some noble woman out of an old TV show.
Without really meaning to, Nic raised an eyebrow, a little thrown off. Now that they were out of immediate danger though, he quickly started to notice what was even more off about her than her fancy syntax.
Her fancy clothes! And were those diamond earrings?
Even her ripped up pants looked more than one cut above the rest. All that jewelry... And he had definitely heard something about a reward.
s**t. How did she even make it this far downtown without getting mugged?
In fact, she was his perfect target... but she never would have even noticed him if he had stolen anything from her, and he certainly never hurt anyone. Well, he never hurt anyone unless they deserved, like those thugs in the alley.
"Uh Nic.... my name is Nic. And your other uh savior, was Abu. Thanks, yeah I'm lucky he was smart to begin with" He said, hesitating to introduce himself further, still trying to figure her out.
She looked familiar. Maybe... a celebrity or noble girl from the nice part of the city he'd seen on TV some time. Definitely someone rich.
Then what the hell was she doing down here?
Without really thinking about it, Nic's hand had strayed to his side again, which was hurting worse than his sore shoulder.
"You live at the castle?" Nic said quietly enough that only the two of them could here, then he looked around, and gently pulled more to the side of the store away from other people. She lived at the castle? That was almost more interesting then her mentioning a reward again... until he thought about her living at the castle and offering a reward. She definitely was not a servant at the castle.
Still talking quietly, "Who are you? And what are you doing in downtown... alone... with all of... that" his hand waved toward her clothing and jewelry, "I mean... are those real diamonds?" he said even more quietly than before, nodding toward her ears.
Nic had a sneaking suspicion of who she might be, but it didn't make any sense. Well... then again, this situation so far didn't really make any sense either, so maybe it fit.
That would be interesting.... meeting the princess in downtown Bania in the shabby hand-me-down clothes he wore yesterday. Not that he had any nice clothes really, but still.
He didn't want anyone to overhear them or draw any attention to them to keep anything like the alley incident from happening again. There were plenty of other people around here willing to do much worse to a pretty girl all alone and wearing thousands of dollars worth of clothing and accessories...

Aruna watched the man observing her. What was he looking at She was used to noble people eyeing her over, considering her as a potential bride, but their gazes weren't full of surprise and stuff. Still she had to be polite "it's a pleasure to meet you, Nic and your smart beautiful Abu"she said smiling at the spidermonkey "and it's a great relief that you've come in my way and saved me from thes filthy citizens, who should be locked in a dungeon forever and never see the sunlight again" she said calmly as if this was something oridinary for her. Perhaps, if she knew that her savior was a thief too and the speciality of the moneky was stealing purses from the bags, she would hold her bag tight onto her and as a reward she would just not drag him in a cold cell, rather than pay him , like she wanted to do now, so maybe it wasn't wise to find out his true occupation. That would also explain the look on his face while he was eyeing her over..so many treasures onto her to steal.
When he asked her to introduce herself she replied instantly what she ws saying to all these people requesting for her identity , especially when she was visiting nearby kingdoms "my name is Aruna Shalena Desai, i am princess and heir of this kingdom"she said standing proudly like a queen would stand, let alone a princess "and for your information , yes , these are diamonds, how could they be something else?" she asked as i it was a matter of fact that all women would have diamond earings and they were a must have for every single of them. After all the small diamonds on her ears -small according to her standards- weren't something important that anyone should inquire about or be impressed. That was the reason she had not removed them during her escape from the castle. She didn't think it was anything a thief would want so badly.
At his nexk=t question she hurried to explain "i wanted to explore my kingdom, i've never been outside the castle without followers or people praising me, so i wanted to see how it really is. Therefore, i wore clothes that you people wear and escaped the castle, but then my iphone's battery died" she said and showed him her white diamond decorated iphone "so i kinda got lost and can not return back. That is why i requested you to help me find my way , back to my home. I will be in enoughh trouble already if they find out i'm missing..thank goodness i had a friend who pushed me into trying it. It is the most amazing experience ever. I am delighted"she told him "now ...will you get me back, sir Nic?" The domineering ❝ XIt's time to see what I can do,

"Very charming, I hear" Richard joked back, regarding Nae's sarcastic comment before pouring the wine she asked for.
Ah. That figured... Richard had things set up back home to where he usually didn't need to go far to find some entertainment, but he frequented the city as well.
He definitely wanted to get into something... or someone... tonight.
And speaking of which-
"Yes, secrets are exciting, aren't they?" he mused, leaving that one open ended with a devious smirk. And not only because he had feeling she had plenty.
Soon he was pulled to his feet with promises of a jungle of a garden- and more wine. That sounded like a start. The only question then was to take his body guards, or to ditch them too.
"Cooties? No, no. I certainly don't mind. Not yours anyway." he replied first, grinning back. But then his tone became more sarcastic than anything else.
"Okay, but only for a couple of hours for now. I hate to say it, but adding me missing to the list once their welcome dinner gets started isn't the best 'diplomacy tactic'." Richard said, rolling his eyes, and using air quotes at the end there.
"Trust me, I speak from experience." he added with a laugh.
Richard grabbed the wine and directed Nae toward the deck at the back with a hand to the small of her back.
"Fortunately for us, they made escape a little too easy here. I'd rather not take the muscle for a garden walk." he said, referring to his body guards.
At least they were pretty used to him disappearing by now so they probably wouldn't raise alarm if they did realize it before he got back. Not unless they had to.
Oh, the number of times he had disappeared without guards, only to be found in some bar, or club, or even back in his rooms as if he had never left. Well, or countless other places really... including some places they insisted on "smuggling" him out of to "minimize publicity."
After directing Nae out onto the deck, Richard set the wine down to finally button his shirt and then picked it back up and held his arm out for Nae to loop hers through.
"Lead the way darlin' but we need to keep a low profile. Avoid those search parties and whatnot."
They would need to go around the private beach and hope it connected to the castle grounds by more than just private rooms, or something...

Holy s**t.
Nic had been right. Even though it had started to become increasingly more obvious to him that this might be the princess, it had still just seemed too weird before getting the confirmation.
And even weirder after.
"Woah woah shhh" he looked around again, as she declared herself so nonchalantly right there in the middle of the store. Several people had at least glanced their way, but he hoped they hadn't heard clearly. Real diamonds... jeez... of course they were real diamonds, she was the princess! But damn.
"I mean, sorry. Princess. Just... please, quieter. You don't want to draw attention to yourself right now, around here...." Nic said, still quietly, suddenly not entirely sure how to behave around the princess... Princess Aruna. No matter what though, he needed to be careful.
Trying to think ahead at the same time, Nic listened to her reasons for being here all alone.
She wanted to explore her kingdom... so she ran out all alone and got lost. Of course. What kind of friend would talk a pampered princess into going out alone?
"Ok.... umm. Princess Aruna. Listen. I will help you get back to the castle, of course. It will" Nic thought for the proper words for a moment, "It will be my honor to assist you." Yeah, that sounded good.
"But I don't think you realize how dangerous this part of the city is. And no offense... but you don't really look like you belong here, downtown, I mean. There are plenty of people around here that would hurt you, or worse, just because your a pretty girl. And wearing all of that expensive jewelry and clothes... I mean... do you have a bag you could put some of that stuff away in before we go? I would rather not get into anymore fights on the way back... unless I need to protect you of course!" he added.
"And.... if you tell the wrong people you're the Princess they might try to kidnap you instead of help you. You are very lucky that you are okay, but I'm guessing you haven't been in this part of the city very long if those were the first guys that tried to harm you."
Alright. Well. She made it down here okay... except for when he had needed to save her. But she had made it that far alone! So getting her back to the castle in one piece shouldn't be too difficult, right? And then he was supposed to get a reward.
Nic didn't want to leave the relative safety of the store until she put her jewelry away, if she was going to, even though Abu was probably hanging around on the roof waiting for them.
He just hoped no one in here had been scoping them out to follow them to another alley.
Damn... this would have been a really good time to be able to call one of his kin that had a car. Especially since it was starting to get later and would be dark before they reached the castle if they went by foot. But Nic didn't really have that option anymore. The only thing that's been on my mind

Not a good diplomacy tactic... hmmm.
"Well, we wouldn't want to further worry the kingdoms would we?" Nae joked back, rolling her eyes. She may be a princess, but she never took the whole thing that seriously. She wandered around the water, wanting nothing to do with her royalty. No, she'd rather mingle with the citizens and yet here she was spending all of her time in two different kingdoms... that weren't even hers!
How ironic. The feet were supposed to give her freedom...
They walked towards the deck, and suddenly she felt a hand touch her. She shivered, her innocence showing. Nae's cheeks reddened as Richard discussed wanting to ditch the muscle. Perfect. Good plan. This was all too easy...
Then his hand left her body to button his shirt. Okay, now she could actually breathe. Momentarily.
But her cheeks were back to crimson as soon as his arm hooked hers.
"Lead the way darlin, but we need to keep a low profile."
Kanae tried to breathe her way through a pounding heart. Why couldn't he be ugly? Seriously.
And Nae had her fair share of mermen that were attractive... there was just something about Richard. "I think we can manage to keep it private." She snatched the bottle from him, taking a little drink before laughing and handing it back to him.
"Shhh..." She glanced to the right, noticing some staff members beside the stairs. But they were just out on smoke breaks... probably nothing to be concerned with. Nae led him down the stairs that came off of his room side deck, nodding at the staff as they passed.
Nae led him down some paths, but you could see the jungle-like garden up ahead from miles away. The palm trees layered the area, sprinkled with all sorts of flowers. It was gorgeous. Nothing like the lame coral under the sea...
The pathway eventually hit the beach, but she knew she had to distract him from that particular place... For her own good.
Aruna had wanted to go to their private beach a couple of days ago and Kanae had to use the cute beach house as a quick distraction. But the beach house was a little ways down the path yet, as was the beach. First, they would run into a little socialite area for parties and fires.
Quickly, she snatched the wine bottle and took another drink. Oof.. She stumbled a little as the wine washed over her. "Maybe we could sit for a little bit?" She offered, then before he could answer took a seat on a love-seat sized wicker couch, patting the empty space beside her.

Richard could see the way Kanae blushed when he was close and in contact. He was used to that kind of thing with certain women, but he was almost surprised in this case. After talking with Nae so far, he hadn't expected her to be so shy.
And yet, definitely not so shy. Weird.
He laughed when she took the bottle for a swig, about to do the same himself when he got it back, until she alerted him to the staff nearby.
Once they passed him, Richard chuckled again, looking over at Nae.
"Better not get too ahead of yourself girl, but more importantly, me!" he laughed again, taking more of a chug than a swig now, as they traversed some paths.
It looked like the garden she was talking about was up ahead.
"So maybe your not a local Banian or whatever, but you've been here longer than me. Tell me about it. What do I have to look forward to after this?" he asked, gesturing toward the garden they were headed toward.
Before long however, Nae was drinking more wine and stumbling down sit down.
"See what I mean?" he said, amused. "Not a big drinker normally I take it?" he asked, sitting down beside her in the spot indicated.
Richard rested his left hand across the back of the couch, just behind Nae's head, while the other took the wine back from her.
He looked it over, seeing that they had gotten it down about halfway already.
Richard shrugged and drank some more. It would take quite a bit of wine to get him going, but a nice little buzz at the back of the head was a start.
Well, she better be okay, because Richard wasn't planning on sitting still for long.
He could have a little patience for some good conversation though, perhaps.

Nae laughed, realizing her limits a little more. "Not at all.. it's not exactly a big thing where I'm from." She shrugged, not realizing how strange that probably sounded.
"You go ahead with that one, think my head rush is gonna do me just fine."
Kanae rested back into the couch, leaning her head onto his arm a bit. "Okay, so you asked what you have to look forward to?" She sighed. Then she crossed one leg over the other, finding it comfortable. "I dunno. I've only been around a bit and am told a lady shouldn't wander most Bania streets alone. So, exploring has been hard alone." She shrugged. "From what I understand it's pretty thief ridden, unless you're privileged enough to live near the palace... or inside it."
Richard began drinking more of the wine, good. She wanted him a little buzzed up. "But it's pretty. I mean there are beaches everywhere... but I guess your kingdom is pretty much the same way." Nae chuckled softly.
"Honestly, I don't know much. I would really like to look around... it's just a little scary. I wouldn't wanna get lost or worse, you know?" Yeah.... maybe then he'd offer to explore with her sometime or something. Good. Good start.
"We could continue walking around, the palace grounds are vast enough for tons of exploration. There's like, a whole entertainment room inside. But I love it out in the garden. It's peaceful, hardly anyone comes out here, I've noticed." Nae jumped to her feet, stumbled a bit at the head rush, and steadied herself by reaching out for Richard..
I've been so wrapped up in my warm cocoon.,
But somethings happening things are changing soon. I'm pushing the edge..

Maybe she was from a small town? Then again, if Richard was from a small town, he was pretty sure he'd drink way more than he already did... which was quite a bit.
Richard nodded, grinning, drinking more of the wine. So Bania wasn't really the place for a lady to wonder alone, well big surprise. Richard knew his kingdom quite well, or parts of it anyway, but that was a different story for him. Although he had run into trouble enough times... That was actually something they had been working on, with his help, before they left - increasing the police force throughout the city. And the funny part was, they had realized the need to do so mainly due to Richard's antics. If he hadn't gone running off all over the place they may have never even paid the lower city any attention.
So how similar were their kingdoms? He really wanted to check it out....
Then again he really wasn't supposed to screw things up here.... but he could probably rig something to get them out into the city at some point. Well, to get him out... and why not bring this Nae? She was.... interesting...
"I would like to see the city," he hinted noncommittally, grinning.
"As I said, the garden sounds like a great start." Richard stated, as he stood up just after Nae, instantly becoming her support.
Richard steadied her with a strong arm as she stumbled.
"Well, lead the way my lady" he said, free hand gesturing onward and they headed toward the garden. From here it did look somewhat impressive. And private.
Perhaps he would speak to his mother about revamping their garden back home, which was large and expansive, but it was lacking something by comparison.... that something possibly being private areas out of passerby eyes, which could serve quite useful......
"If you can walk that is." he added with a laugh as they started out again, him offering continued support just in case. It appeared Nae was definitely having some walking-straight problems, though she didn't seem too drunk yet. He would hope not considering it was just wine... although she had certainly slammed some before he took over the bottle.
Thinking of which.... he took another swig.

Nae held onto him for the first few steps, but found her balance eventually. The pair of them wandered around through the garden further, she lead him slightly away from the house that they passed... saving that place. She took him under rows of various floral arrangements. "I always thought this was beautiful."
In all reality, it was pretty corny. But it was unlike anything Nae had ever seen before. Everything around here was so vast and beautiful. Man made was different than the undersea's natural beauty. It was different. It was intriguing. Much like Richard, he surely didn't treat her like the mermen her father approved for her. No. To him she was just a normal girl. A really normal girl.
How could she even hope to beat out a princess if she was a normal girl? Why hadn't Ursula thought of this...
Nae had gone silent, sucked into her thoughts as they walked along. Lost in thought, she didn't see the lose tree limb that caught her flip flop, causing her to fall... flat on her face. Thankfully, she mostly broke the fall on one knee and one hand, so her face remained safe. But that's what it would have looked like.
Nae yelled out, then toppled over onto her butt. She looked down at her broken flip flop and bleeding big toe. She wiggled it, winced, and then looked up at Richard in horror. "Oh. Oh... No." She felt her skin heat up, turning her paled skin crimson once more. "I am... Oh," What was the word? "I'm so embarrassed." She scrambled to her feet, attempting to dust herself off a bit.
She was unsteady on her feet, her ankle hurt... "Why did I think legs and feet were a good thing?" She couldn't do this... She was a mess. This was a disaster.
"Well," She limped, clearly favoring her shoeless right foot. "Now that I've made a complete fool of myself, would you assist me in hobbling back to that house along the path? Uh, please, sir?" She barely choked out that last bit. Her princess mentality threatened to surface. This was not how she was used to behaving... But she really couldn't boss the Prince around. That would defeat her purpose.
Nae did manage to flash him a small smile, her cheeks softening back to their normal hue.

As they strode through the gardens, Richard looked around, seeing how expansive the garden was, with tall walls covered in plants such as vines. The area they started under with floral arrangement was typical, but on a grander scale than most gardens.
And yet Nae seemed to look at them in wonder even now, when she had obviously been in here several times or more. It was kind of cute. But weird.
Richard was trying to up one of the walls to see if there was sections of more garden on the other side, or whatever else, when he Nae cry out.
He jumped back down and ran over to her as she managed to stand up.
"What happened? Are you okay?" he asked, crouching down to examine her foot. It looked like her toe was bleeding and part of the toenail was ripped.
Richard just stood there, shaking his head slightly, trying to hold back a grin as she went on about him possibly assisting her and didn't sound sure if he would, and irritated as hell at the same time.
"You need to stop worrying so much." Richard said, crossing the distance between them in two long strides, and scooped Nae up into his arms.
"Oh you're light girl, do you eat?" he laughed, bouncing her slightly in his arms once.
"Hobbling" he scoffed with a role of his eyes but he was grinning by the time his eyes settled back on Nae.
"Now where are we going?" Richard asked, beginning to walk back out of the garden and stopped to look along the path.
"That... house?" he said, almost referring to it as a shack. He started heading that way, but added, "I can take you back to the castle if you were just worried about hobbling too far."

Kanae was not expecting Richard to lift her up into his arms. But that's exactly what he did. He scooped the girl up, told her to stop worrying, and bounced her around. "Hey hey, careful." She laughed, hooking one arm behind his neck to hold herself steady.
"Just go back the way we came and then hang a right at the fork instead. Yes, that uhm, house." She shrugged.
He recommended taking her to the castle, still picking on her for her word choice.
"Okay, hobbling is a perfect description of what I would have done." Nae narrowed her eyebrows, giving him a very serious look and tone to match. "And I don't wanna go back to the castle. We just left there." Her face softened into a small smile.
"Now hurry up!" She winked, "I'm going to bleed to death, that's a thing you know." Well, she knew at least. She did her research on her new body parts limitations and such. Blood was not good. Cuts needed to be cleaned... "And I broke my shoe!" She pouted, her eyes portraying a playful smile still.

Following her directions, Richard went back and took the right fork and saw the house she was talking about. He walked on as if he wasn't carrying anything more than a blanket.
"Yeah, sure you might have hobbled. I'm just offended you thought I'd let you hobble. Why is hobble an even weirder word than hobbling?" Richard added rhetorically, jokingly thoughtful.
"Good point." he grinned, when she said why she didn't want to return to the castle yet.
Richard rolled his eyes when Nae was being over dramatic, going on about bleeding out and whatnot, knowing she was just playing around. He acted like he wasn't listening, but then broke into a trot for the last stretch, making sure that while she bounced, she was firmly in his arms.
He also didn't slow down as soon as one might have expected when he approached the door to the house, almost barreling into it, before turning on his feet and letting his back fall against the door instead.
"Are you alive!? Did we make it!?" he cried, pretending to check her foot out and actually tickled it instead, while his other arm kept a good hold. And then he tried the door.
