Lenore looked over at Shakuntala. For some reason, she didn't feel her usual want to bite out sarcasm. Maybe it was because she was still upset at Santos? That didn't really make sense, though. She supposed it didn't matter. Instead, she shrugged. "Yeah, I'm fine. Gotta go run 30 laps, and probably won't make it, but I'm fine."Brushing her hair back with her hand, she sighed and looked upwards, staring at nothing in particular. "I really, really, hate that guy." She noted a cloud that looked kind of like a horse, but said nothing. Lowering her gaze back to her fellow trainee, she tilted her head. "What about you...? Are you okay?"

Shakuntala wrung her hands before her chest, her eyes concentrated hard on a pebble as Lenore looked to the sky. She shared the same sentiment; Santos was titan incarnate. A disgusting, disgusting man who deserved nothing but the worst! The teen's eyes widened a smidgen at her own deep hatred. She never knew she could feel such a feeling -- let alone comprehend it. It felt like the same thick, blood-boiling hate she had for her cousin.
She nodded her head solemnly as the wind picked up again; diverging a path between herself and the shorter, black-haired girl. It seemed to be drawing the line of opposites between them; Lenore, who could somehow stand up for herself and be dished punishment, and herself, who skittishly went along with whatever was commanded of her. A current disturbing the ebb and flow of the tide. And, for the first time in her life, Shakuntala admired someone for going against it.
Eventually, she answered, "I-I'm fine... At least, I think... I-I think I'll be..." She thinned her lips and added, "I-it's just... a few more years. A few more... A-and we'll never see that guy again..."

Nodding quietly, Lenore sighed. "Three years..." She whispered. "I can hardly remember three years ago." She thumbed at the ribbon in her hair absentmindedly. Despite her usually passive thoughts on the matter, she found it slightly unfair that her memories of Santos were already more vibrant than those of her own parents. She supposed it was to be expected, but it didn't make it feel any better. Looking up at Shakuntala, she spoke louder. "Now that we delivered our letters, we should probably get out of here." Lenore pointed a thumb over her shoulder, pointing at Santos' office. "No telling when the king of the jerks will decide to come out and yell at us some more."

Shakuntala opened her mouth to press the issue in regards to Lenore's passed three years, but it clamped shut like a vice before the words could spill out. No, it wasn't in her place to suddenly ask people of their backgrounds; she hardly knew Lenore in the first place. Still, there was still a tingling in the bit of her stomach as she fingered her hair accessory. There was obviously a story there.
But it was one she'd have to hear another time.
"Y-yea..." she agreed with a small, bothered smile. "I'll, um, s-see you around?" Well, whenever she left the horse stables that is. Inching out from Lenore, she backpedaled a few steps before turning and departing in a quiet manner. But that nagging feeling wouldn't go away.

Looking over at Shakuntala, Lenore nodded. "Sure." As the older girl left, Lenore sighed deeply. "Guess I should start on the laps..." She made her way over to the track and began running. To her credit, she made it to twenty this time.
