● Socket - Ian's channeler. A magitech robot he built himself and is constantly upgrading. Socket is a remote control channeler, the first of its kind, and used to be controlled by a PS Vita that Ian modified. Instead, now he uses a special eyepiece that he built himself containing a neurotransmitter and circuit-infused glass, so now he only has to think the functions to control the bot. ● Socket's old controller - Ian still keeps the older controllers, two heavily modified PS Vitas, around to use them in a pinch. He has two - the master and the secondary, which are currently disconnected from Socket's network but can be booted back up fairly quickly. ● Laptop - Ian's laptop is full of his programs and test videos. (And, of course, his Steam account.) It's several years old and a bit beat up, but it runs surprisingly well. Ian has also upgraded his laptop to handle transferring Socket's programs and is compatible with other magitech. ● Notebooks - Ian has several notebooks crammed full of calculations using a mathematical system he designed to use with Socket's programs. The system, called "mathemagicks" (coined by Ian, what a loser) uses the minor and major arcana for variables and theorems respectively. Recently Ian has expanded to include some alchemic symbols.

Icarus is overall very toned from working out often and helping out at his grandparent's farm over the summers. He's got a pretty good looking face and dark blue eyes with fairly tan skin. Icarus also has very clean nails and very white teeth, tribute to his precise self hygiene habits. He's got three piercings on either side of his ears, two on the lobe and one on the helix. The bit of chub he had in his second year is completely gone, along with whatever baby fat was left in his face. He has a paw print tattoo on his leg, and the three dots that indicate 'toes' are the sigils assigned to his chickens. Sandrea -- Biological mother. A panicky but mostly friendly woman with a bad history with Daedalus. She gave birth to Iapyx and Icarus and is currently watching over Iapyx. Is part of a church in Italy. It seems that Icarus mostly only tolerates her, and they don't keep in contact much after she was introduced into his life during the summer of his second year at Merlin. Looks a LOT like her sons.
Daedalus -- Father. A inventor and a problem solver, he was an incredible genius. Framed for the murder of his own nephew and was in the Gambino family's holding for a while. Daedalus made lots of enemies during his lifetime, and there were a lot of attempts to ruin his life made by others. (Particularly these attempts were made by Sandrea and Perdix.) He was a sociopath with no sense of humanity. Regarded Iapyx as a mutt and had intended to construct Icarus into somebody who would take his namesake and do it justice. While there were rumors of him being horribly sick, it turns out that he was actually just inducing his own death. Committed suicide. Icarus owns all of his inheritance.
Caria - Both his aunt and his adoptive mother, but she doesn't know Icarus knows the first part. Mother of Perdix, she's a woman in her late 20s who is known in the magick literature community in Chicago as a brutal critic with a talent for picking apart books. Caria tries to make it seem like she doesn't care much about what Icarus gets up to, and tends to keep a very accepting approach to the hijinks he gets up to. Adopted Icarus when he was about seven and shortly after broke up with her boyfriend, keeping single since. Closeted Aromantic. She lives in a condo and is well off.
Icarus regards her as the closest thing to a mother that he has, but she makes a point of trying not to act like one. Despite her attempts at keeping a cold personality Icarus writes to her often, and Caria always replies back promptly, so maybe she does have a (HUGE) soft spot after all.

Iapyx - Icarus' half brother. They share the same mother, and Daedalus adopted him. His biological father is in jail.
Older by about three to four years, Iapyx was a very friendly man who is perpetually smiling and cared very much for his brother. He was a very powerful healer and quite rich. He used to keep uncomfortably close tabs on Icarus but did not care much for his friends. Wore a lot of black and an arm band that matched his little brother's. While originally he didn't look anything like Icarus or his mother, he had heavy cosmetic magic done so that he'd look like a mostly exact replica of Icarus.
Iapyx's life is mostly a twisted affair, and he essentially hated by everyone in his house. His attachment to his little brother, stemming from mental conditioning and the fact that his little brother was the only person who treated him kindly, grew twisted and subsequently Iapyx became horrendously abusive.
Currently possessed and going under the name 'Talos'. His memory has been wiped clean and he's being taken care of by Sandrea as a (mostly functioning) vegetable.

Perdix - Currently deceased, Icarus met Perdix only once when he was alive. He was friendly and kind of arrogant while he was alive, but generally a well meaning guy. Was Daedalus' apprentice for a while, and he was the one who brought Icarus to Caria. (Though originally he intended to bring Iapyx along.) Absolutely despises Iapyx.
Grandfather - A very friendly man and nothing like the rest of his family, he cries a lot and knits often. Loves animals and is very compassionate, he tries to come off as crotchety and wizened but instead seems rather silly and lovable instead. An extremely sprightly old man.
Grandmother - A woman with a smile that makes you think she knows everything about you. While generally kind, she has absolutely no idea how to talk to youth and can make ridiculously scary jokes. Holds a lot of guilt over a lot of things pertaining to her son, but it doesn't show at all.

End never really had much of a home growing up.

End was raised purely by his sister who, honestly, wasn't much older than himself. She did her best to make sure End was fed and safe and she did a good job. End was 15 when Hestia got into the wrong fight and was killed because of it. At that point he was more or less adopted by Ida, Faust and Nola and- well -joined them in using dark magic. None of them used it for malicious purposes, actually they used dark magic specifically to help others and didn't mind about the taint. It was End reviving a small dead dog that tainted him the most, to the point where he was actually dying. If Faust hadn't intervened, in spite of End's pleading for him not to, End would have died. But Faust had sealed End's spirit inside a mask and continued to work to cure End's body. End had just turned 17. He lost his memories expect for his name.
End, as a mask, was teleported from place to place, occasionally on someone's face. When someone put the mask on, End's consciousness took over theres and he- with no intent of his own -was in control of their bodies. Though, honestly, most of the time End was not conscious and not in possession of someone else's body. Combined time End was in control of someone else's body would have been about a year, up until Tadion.
Tadion was the body End was in when he first attended Merlin and the body End had spent the most time in. It was halfway through End's second year at Merlin that he found his original body- which hadn't aged without him and was now taint free -and had his spirit returned to it.

Sylvia - (20) The owner of a very successful potion shop in Hamburg. An ex-merlin student who is mostly known because of her genius.Also the original pet owner of Cinnamon. Takes a long time to answer questions and heinously antisocial. She cares deeply for anyone she considers her family and only her family. The eldest of the Woods siblings.
Dietz - (19) A year younger than Sylvia, he's magically impotent and has a complex about it. His relationship with his older sister is a bit chaotic because he doesn't think it right that she can treat him like she treats the rest of the younger siblings, but since their financial situation has stabilized they've learned to get along a lot better. As deeply invested as Sylvia is in their family. He used to be the prime breadwinner for the family by working at a bar, and while there isn't anymore pressure for him to gain an income for the family he still currently works there. (It might have to do with the fact he's in a relationship with the owner of the bar and was persuaded to stay.)
Gale - (18) The second eldest in the family with magic in him. He chose not to attend Merlin and decided to go to a small magick school in Germany, but transferred to a more esteemed school when the family moved to Hamburg. Good at reading people, he's friendly but also kind of rotten. Attracts things like ghosts and spirits.
Fritz - (15) Magically impotent, and closest to Dietz out of the older siblings. He's animated and excitable, but with Cabbage's appearance has tried to become more mature. His sense of direction is s**t and he likes to think of himself as a smart leader type, but his grades are average even though he tries insanely hard. Didn't really like Cabbage at all, but he's a nice guy.
Toji - (12) Feeble health, and closest to Gale out of the older siblings. He carries around a teddybear and generally doesn't talk a lot. Despite being quiet, his emotions are very easily read on his face. Attached to Beat and Fritz, he serves as their protector. Doesn't care for anyone other than his family, but he seems to be very popular with kids his age in the romance department.
Beat - (11) Tough and doesn't like showing his emotions, he's kind of the rebellious type and used to feel a bit estranged from the rest of the family. After Sylvia came back from school, he's eased up a lot. Veeeeery protective over his little sister, since he's determined to take care of her. He shows the same intellectual potential Sylvia does, but he doesn't really care about that kind of thing at all.
Czenzi - (9) A tiny girl who is currently learning Judo at an alarming rate. While she could probably learn magic if she pursued it, Czenzi is currently only interested in Judo. The family's spoiled baby, she wants to become a knightress and catch herself a member of royalty. Got along with Cabbage splendidly, because they both like fairytales.

Cabbage grew up in Germany, living in a potion shop/house complex for as long as he can remember with seven other people, one of them being an old student by the name of Sylvia Wood. Kesi has two 'families', so to speak. First is his biological mother, in Egypt, and his father, a diplomat and mercenary. The second is the wealthy family in England who bought his services a few years back.

Mother - Eshe Eshe was never a good mother. She was already quite unhinged when Kesi was born, (what with the stress of having to scrape together enough money to eat every day, being forced to live in a dangerous slum, and being unable to get a decent job because of her gender and social status) but when Fado told her he had to leave for an unspecified amount of time, she almost went off the deep end. Kesi was low priority to her, as she was nearly always engrossed in her prayers and religious studies. Kesi began to show signs of what she considered ungodliness, so she decided to put an end to it in the only way she knew how: force. She made Kesi's life hell, with abuse and neglect. The years of abuse are what left him with his PTSD attacks and distrust of women. When Kesi was around 11, she had run low on money and was all too willing to sell her son to an English family that was on vacation. They gave her the money and took Kesi to England with them. Kesi and his new masters haven't heard from her since.

Master - Gordon Lethbridge The wealthy elf who decided to take Kesi in. Kesi has extreme amounts of respect for Mr. Lethbridge because of this. Lethbridge, as a person is a large and jovial man with a big heart. He regularly uses the money he earns from his large corporation to give to charity and to help urban elves who have been shunned by mundanes. His only weakness is his wife, who he usually submits to. Mr. Lethbridge cares deeply for Kesi and sees him as another son, as strange as it sounds. When Kesi received his acceptance letter to Merlin, Mr. Lethbridge overrode his wife's protests and allowed Kesi to attend the school, in part because he realized Kesi wouldn't have many more opportunities for a happy life, and in part because he remembered how successful his sister was after she pursued a career in magic.
Mistress - Maya Lethbridge Mr. Lethbridge's human wife. She was opposed to the idea of taking Kesi in from the very start. She believed that a third fifth mouth to feed would be simply too much. But her husband ultimately got his way, and Kesi came to live with them in England. While she didn't (and still doesn't) particularly like the idea of Kesi staying with them, she treats him quite civilly, but ignites his fear if she gets angry. She wanted Kesi to stay at their home and continue his work, but Mr. Lethbridge told her plainly that Kesi would attend the school.
Masters' Daughter - Lydia 13 years old, as of Kesi's second year. She looks up to Kesi as a big brother and wishes with all her heart that he weren't so scared around her, but she appreciates his company all the same.
Masters' Son - Isaac A small and excitable 8-year-old boy. Kesi does his best to take care of the kid, but Isaac is one of those types that simply will not stay put, much to Kesi's chagrin.

Kesi grew up to a lower-class mother in Egypt. His father, a traveling elf and a bit of a diplomat between groups, couldn't stay and raise Kesi, much to his chagrin. Kesi's mother assured that he would be given the proper upbringing. Unfortunately, that didn't last. With his father gone much of the time, his mother grew resentful and unstable. When he was about 7, his mother caught him holding hands with another boy. She forbid him from seeing the boy again.
What started as overbearing mothering quickly evolved into much more potent abuse. She became obsessive and hit him, using religion as an excuse for her behavior. Over time she was less and less inclined to hold back. She changed up her methods every now and then to remind Kesi that he was a disgrace. She pulled him out of school and gave him her version of education. He was forced into a strictly regulated life of prayer and pain, which he never quite recovered from. The abuse left him with a curious tic of scratching the back of his neck aggressively whenever he gets stressed or nervous.
When Kesi was about 11, money began to get tight, so his mother was forced to sell him as a servant to a wealthy English elven family. Kesi went very willingly. He was desperate for a new life.
In London, he was treated more as a live-in butler than a slave. The years of abuse made him severely distrustful of any people however, with a very heavy emphasis on women. His owners treated him very civilly in spite of this, and even succeeded in getting him to open up to them enough that they were able to teach him English. He could still never talk to his mistress, though. To cope with his trauma, he tended to the family's gardens and developed a love for the peace and quiet that plants and gardening brought him.
One day while he was caring for the garden, his master brought him a letter, saying it had come for him. Kesi was quite alarmed that he had gotten into such a prestigious academy. As a thanks for the years of hard work he'd devoted to them, the family agreed to allow him to get an education at the academy and saw him off with a smile.

She's also an Organization member, and has began hanging around Justus due to a mission she's investigating. Pretty hot.

Really likes kids, and suspicious of all adults. Tends to put up a strong unyielding front in front of those younger than her, though. Adriene grew up as an urban elf in Paris, France. As such, she's very well-versed in human customs and trends. Adriene's parents raised her at home, where they taught her about magic and everything that came with it. They had a fascination with black magic that eventually passed to their daughter. The only difference was that they had no qualms with using curses and hexes to better study black magic.
When she was a child, it was very common for her parents to use her as a guinea pig for hexes. One of these hexes was an obedience hex that made Adriene follow any and all orders directed at her. Her parents used this in order to keep her under control. It worked fairly well until she went out one day to buy groceries. A group of human bullies followed her through the Parisian streets, jeering her as she went along. It was harmless enough until one of the bullied said, "Kill yourself, f****** b****!!"
Adriene's parents caught her at the very last minute. A second later, and Adriene would have plummeted off of the top of their 22-story apartment building. They removed the obedience hex. After this, she began rebelling in her own way, falling into the goth subculture.
Adriene received her letter to Merlin while she was under the effects of a new, harmless hex. Her parents always expected that she would be accepted to a magic school, so they let her go.

Bambi has wide shoulders and a generally stocky build, strong jawline included. She's pretty muscular and all of it is clear as day because she has very obvious muscle definition, though most of her strength is in her legs and shoulders. Her stomach is toned and she does have abs, but they aren't anything extraordinary.
Her eyebrows are thick and she's got hair on her arms/legs/etc. (She has thick arm hair in particular.) Bambi is also significantly tan from a lifetime of being out in the sun. She has two gold piercings on either ear and a slight tip to indicate her not-quite-human blood.
Bambi also has a black tattoo of a dried out winter cherry on her right shoulder blade. She always wears jackets or covers it up, though, so it's not been seen by many.

● Pigolem - A golem. tab The reconstructed, smaller and incredibly well made version of Boar, a golem Bambi's brother was gifted by her mother Xiu. Currently has ceramic feet and is being possessed by Bambi's deceased brother Chang. Shows an alertness and responsiveness that doesn't exist in golems, and has the unique ability to repair any time it's cracked or shattered should Bambi order it to repair itself. Pigolem also serves as a walking urn for taint redirection. tab Xiu's 'magnum opus', for obvious reasons.

Xiu -- Bambi's precious mother. A woman who traveled the expanse of China, doing performances with golems to entertain people. Like her daughter, she wants to make people happy. Bambi waits for her at the bus stop everyday.
Fa - A martial artist who uses her mystic disposition to channel magic through her blows. She's Xiu and An's childhood friend, and Xiu's main lover.
An - Bambi's nonbinary godparent and teacher, a longtime childhood friend of both Fa and Xiu.

Ever since she was young, Bambi traveled with her mom. Her mother was a travelling alchemist, entertaining people with golem magic. Her mother had lots of lovers and was in the business of making people happy, which also rubbed off on her daughter. The only place Bambi was truly familiar with was her mother's hometown (where they went to visit her grandparents periodically) and a sprinkling of cities that they often frequented to get mud for golems. One day in the midst of their travels, an invitation for Merlin came. Using the money she had saved up, Bambi's mother registered Bambi into Merlin.
Bambi has attended Merlin for a year, and has a LOT of struggle with her studies. She only barely passed her exams for first year, and is currently very anxious for the future.

Yani has orange eyes. Her paler skin is from both her mother's side of the family and her own avoidance of sunlight by staying indoors or under the shade of trees. The only real muscle build-up Yani has gotten was accomplished by squating while drawing things she saw and petting animals, and lifting animals and sometimes people... Her belly is chubby and if you're around her long enough you may be able to see her pat it gently like one pats their face with both hands. (She's grown fond of it after having it for so long)
Yani's mouth has a natural up-turn to it so it looks like she's constantly smiling. This means her frown is actually more of a neutral expression. Her smile tends to cause some fights and tension if people aren't aware that her neutral expession is a smile.

Yani's mother's half of the family is composed of average-income, French speaking humans of Japanese decent (her grandmother is a Japanese immigrant and her grandfather was of Icelandic decent (very little's known about him so they don't include him in their family tree. He died when Yani's mother was young and her grandmother has since remarried)) that have no known magic users besides her mother and now her. Her father's side of the family lives in an elven tribe in Northern Quebec that is slowly dying out from the younger generations leaving to live in the mundane villages, towns and cities. Yani's parents only hear from the village elders though and not his family.

Yani was born and raised in a small human town with her elven father and human mother. Both of her parents had attended The Academy of Merlin when they were younger, but after graduating the academy they both settled down into a Mundane human's lifestyle to look after Yani's human grandparents. Because of this, Yani was raised as a Mundane in their town.
At a young age, Yani drew an assortment of animals as well as people in their town and with commitment to her art she was able to develop a small amount of talent over time. She also ventured often with her father to his hometown and sat in the grass drawing the creatures there when he was called upon to help with scientific breakthroughs and trials (the only reason that his hometown allows him and his daughter back there is because of the work he helps them achieve). It was on one of these trips that one of the elders noticed that she was able to have a deer stay still in a clearing while she drew it and recommended that Yani's father enroll her to the academy, the elder didn't however mention their hopes that Yani would find an elven male to thin out the human genes in her now-tainted line in hopes of someday bringing more elves back into their thinning village.
