Xiao smiled as he looked about in absolute wonder. This cave with its glowing flowers and crystal formations was a well kept secret. Only she and Pumpkin knew about it. This lake was actually the headwaters of her little stream. She wondered at time if the crystals and flowers helped her own plants grow. Maybe they had some unique properties to them...
"You know you can wade in if you like. The lake is actually fairly shallow for about twenty or so feet, then it gets deeper. You would be able to smell some of them!" She stepped into the slightly chilled water to show him that it was safe before leaning down and smelling a flower. It's scent was light and airy, in her opinion it smelled like rain. If rain had a smell!
"Truly I am not the one who found it. My dear friend Pumpkin Spice did." A slight pause, "Pumpkin is... Unusual. She has this odd curiosity to her. One day she wandered down here and promptly fell into the lake because it was too dark to see!" She smiled and laughed a bit thinking of the big clumsy draft mare. "When she fell in the flowers all floated close to her and the glow confused her so she plucked one and wandered to my home where she showed it to me. The flower she picked didn't glow though." She shared with him a look of disbelief and continued her tale, "Pumpkin insisted the flowers glowed so she showed me the cave and promptly fell in the lake again!" Her eyed glittered with humor at this memory. "The flowers disturbed once again by her splashing about floated close to her and indeed they were glowing. It took my breath away and we kept the secret. Only sharing it with true friends or our loved ones..." Her voice trailed off as she shyly looked at Mahlar. Wondering what category he fit into. Friends or more...
