Caelius opened Gale's file, wrote a few choice lines on it, and closed it again before answering.

"I appreciate," he didn't, "your enthusiasm on horsemen-related missions, but there is a difference between useful information and a waste of ******** resources. You will be granted specialization clearance in your horsemen expeditions. Using a golem is restricted, and a horseman golem is limited. You will research in person, and that includes taking the time and effort to create the resources necessary to gain proper exposure. When enough useful information has been gathered and compiled from you on the promised situation, then I will consider the deployment of golems for lair excavation. Everyone's safety is already ******** endangered, promising someone a false sense of security is not going to change a slow death through pure ******** ignorance."

kuroopu
Gale has been given clearance to do reconnaissance missions at horseman bases. That means he can "PRP" with horsemen while trying his best to blend in and be as unsuspicious as possible as to who he is. Of course, this can play out with mixed results, so feel free to do some trial and error, if he fails the first time, he'll learn a bit more the next time! A small budget has been granted so he can stop looking so dapper. He is also able to bring in a couple of Hunter accomplices if he wants as backup, though this should obviously be a series of small, covert missions. Once he's done a few and compiled the mission reports, you can quote me and we can discuss horsemen golems more in detail!

There had been rumors that the division meeting would be in a few days, so Shu the intermediate hunter had been nervous and attempted to keep a habit of waking up earlier in the morning. Thank you so much for the news, Mr. Hunters that she didn't know. Waking up so early meant she had many time in the morning with a clearer mind. From what she overheard, it was a time where hunters make proposals to get approval and supplies and assistance. Yet, she recalled what she did in this half year, she didn't have any idea or direction she wanted to go for as goals.

It might be one of the most wisest decision she had ever made she thought as she received the text message threatening termination. She just had a walk to the beach and came back for a shower. For an important situation like this, she did rather dress more formally to show respect, for her, it meant black and white.

So she was able to arrive thirty minutes earlier, peeked into the room, and went for a relax walk before showing up at fifteen minutes later. Different from her normal cutie style wear, she was dressing in a black double-breasted vest, a black and white striped shirt together with a black tie inside as the top; and a pair of black shorts with a classical checkered belt, accompanied with long stockings and boots in black. Of course she was wearing the new white hunter coat with beautiful gold trims, the petite Asian was proud of being one of the Death hunters.

The girl in a very neat look greeted Caelius - their super hot megane Death Lead, Mark the forever Uncle unless he shaved and clean himself and Oz the someone she didn't know with a smile and sincere nod before she went to find her seat. Kostya, her dear neighbour got a hand wave and a proper greeting he deserved, but she didn't bothered the hunter who had been preparing his proposal idea one last time to avoid visible errors. Good luck, Mr. Bashmet.

Looking around the quite spacious room, she looked for familiar face to be seated with. Ah, there. The initial dash quickly became a careful walk as she remembered she was in a formal meeting organized by the one she admired so much. "Good morning Miss, can I sit next to you?" Shu offered Cee a bright smile but controlled her voice under excitement and anxiety. "Thank you for taking us for the makeover last time, it was so much fun. Is that your first division meeting? It's my second one, but the first one was a sudden one." She expressed her nervousness in the form of a chatter.

She didn't need to wait long from talking to the lady with beautiful dense black hair or stole some glances at the Death lead who always look so perfect before he spoke. Shu's immediately response was leaning forward, sat straight and had her ears pricked up. With a perk-up look, she paid 1000% attention to the valuable lecture. He's definitely her favourite teacher if she was in school. The petite huntress busily jotted down notes and diagrams so that she didn't forget the essence of a qualified Death hunter, it was one of the many goals to be completed in this short life of the Asian girl.

Are you sure?

Not until towards the end of the speech, Shu realized the danger. An assessment! Oh my, she had - nothing to say...did she hold any of the useful information? The silence from the waiting made her heart beat quicker and quicker, until Kostya stood up for his proposal. The mention of the horsemen called back her memories, she did meet some of them, at the Class A mission, Haunted House and recently the Sahara reconnaissance, and she was pretty sure they all came from different clans. The hunter totally startled the girl, but she knew he suggested something appealing and great. She did like to help, but she wasn't sure if she liked to force horsemen into weapons, so she just pressed her lips together, pondering. Cee and another hunter's volunteer didn't change her mind, in her heart, she innocently believed not all of the horsemen were bad.

Luckily or unluckily, her attention was all caught when the pink hair hunter appeared. He was so adorable! Shu screamed in her heart, believing she might find the perfect candidate for Aoba. The hunter seemed to carry the color of pink so well, ahhhhhhhh~ Who's he? Then, the someone he brought with, more like dragged, gave her the answer. At that moment, she remembered these two, the same team that broke into last meeting and delivered a bunch of information about Ourboros - the one who are resourceful.

Get closer, approach them.

Yes, she needed to approach them and maybe make friends with them, but surely not mainly for that reason. The proposal that Gale suggested was what she could do, reconnaissance missions, just like what she did in Sahara and the external mission to Elkmont and the awful abandoned hunter base. It still hurt her when she thought of what she saw and experienced.

Anyway, she decided to keep quiet and listen until anything came across her mind.

Just you can see how admired and respectful she is.

The second Quinn walked in, Caelius stared right at the Life Hunter. "Sit. If you were requested to be here, you were requested to be here."

He didn't elaborate.

Bradley didn't like Caelius. He was sure Caelius didn't like him. There was a mutual hate going on and he was perfectly fine with it continuing. This posed a problem since Caelius was his division leader but the tall trainee simply didn't care. He hadn't really cared about much since the Sahara and the Tower, since he'd weilded Excalibur and was tarted around by a shadowy version of Yzalin. He'd kept to himself, barely leaving his room except to go out into the courtyard to practice with Yza and train. He sort of had to leave for this, but he'd left most of his armor and gear in the room, opting for just a simple pair of pants and one of the nicer t-shirts.

The amount of caring Brad had in him was low today.

He took sparse notes. Honestly all this s**t about information and execution and that it was a privalege to be in this division was crap. He wanted to fight things, not research them.

[[ Mine, going in unprepared is going to get you killed. Caelius has a point. If you don't know what you're fighting, something like the Sahara or the Tower will happen again. He's simply looking out for the division and the hunters as a whole. ]] If Yzalin was a person, she'd be petting his hair and smiling encouragingly at him. Bradley ran a hand through his hair.

That's all well and good, but if you've noticed you're a scythe, not a pair of daggers. I can't exactly rogue with a two handed weapon. He idly cracked his knuckles. She always wanted to do what they were told and the 'right' thing. A perfect soldier, that one, something that Bradley just... wasn't. Being tied down to information, and books, and research when he wanted to explore and do things was frustrating and incredibly boring.

[[ Then why don't you ask him if you can go 'do research about locations' and then you can explore to your hearts content? ]] It was clear from her tone that she as annoyed with his complaining. Even if he hadn't realized he was thinking it. He blinked and glanced up in the direction of the earring.

... Why didn't I think of that?

[[ Because you were too busy complaining. ]]

It made him look like a complete newbie (regardless of the missions he'd been on) and he hated it. God damnit all he hated this. Bradley stood up, a good head taller than some of the others, and raised a hand.

"I'd like to get more experience by exploring and documenting places of Horsemen or Halloween activity. I'd prefer if what happened in the Sahara and the Tower did not happen again to me. I don't have a specific place I'd like to document, so feel free to put me where you'd like," he said, keeping his face as neutral and passive as possible. Ugh, documentation. Ugh, paperwork.

But if it kept him on the good side of Caelius, he'd do it.

The Death lead gave his full attention towards Bradley, and the look was far, far from encouraging, and in fact probably the opposite. In any lesser person they might have reconsidered for a second how bad termination could possibly be. "You prefer not to. You prefer it because you ******** have a choice." Snap. There went the pencil in his hand. "You do not have any choice, you do not even have a semblance of choice unless it is something I prefer. There is no room for incompetent preference, there is no room for blind consideration, and I will place you exactly where you deserve which is at base trainee rank, following orders. If you cannot even take basic orders without preferring not to do it then I will make sure you never obtain what you prefer."

There was a long pause, and Oz opened one eye from his nap, looking up to see if there would be any sort of more exciting public demonstration, as the division had gotten a lot less exciting and murderous after Taym had left. Nothing happened however, other than the room being stiflingly quiet, all pairs of eyes focused on the two, and especially Bradley.

"You will accompany Gale and Konstantin on their missions. You will document for them, and they will be responsible for your behaviour. Any misconduct on your part will be reflected on their records as well."

the_scowling_cat
Thank you for posting in the mission! Bradley can contact either Gale or Kostya (feel free to pm cherno astra or kuroopu) and set up a mission with them to gain a little more experience himself as well as what he is looking for can be gained from what the two are doing!

"I will continue," continued the Death lead, not really giving anyone any recovery time, as, as far as he was concerned, they had been all given a fair chance to speak with what he considered infinite patience, "First, everyone will submit in a review of themselves for the past quarter, and depending on your progress, be considered for a monthly pay bonus. Second, if you have a project requiring confidential clearance, you will stay." He gave Lucky, Shiloh, Quinn and Gale a very adamant you will stay sort of look.

"Lastly, I have an assignment for everyone in this division this quarter. You will compile as much information as possible regarding both Ourboros and the Four Clans. Information is rank in this division, those who submit critical information will be considered for promotion. You are all dismissed except for those with classified missions."

OOC

Everyone is good to go or you can stay! If you still have a question/idea/report you can also stay behind to ask about it! Feel free to log your past progress in a mission report and submit it in the mission report thread for an easy +1 rp point (if you go above 600 words). In addition, please DO plot with each other and those from other divisions, and feel free to submit those plots as mission reports as well (you will get +1 rp points every time you go over 600 words for these).

You were quoted please do stay

It was not the words that kept him from bolting, but more the commanding tone behind said words. Words could be cheap, easily confused or even muddled. Combining them with body language and a strong enough oomph of voice, someone saying 'fluffy bunnies' would have gotten different flavors of meaning behind the words depending on the cues.

Either way Quinn heard the command, and least he not be terminated he slid into a chair dutifully next to Shiloh, Lucky, and Gale. They were the three here he actually knew, the presence of Lucky (a fellow lifer) calming him down more than he would like to admit.

Still he might as well take advantage and listen to what was happening, he was given a rare chance to see into a different division. He wished he could say he was surprised when Cael turned all that malice in his direction as well, but he WAS here for a purpose right? Still, he found it hard keeping himself composed and suddenly had a strange urge to slip out of his chair and hide under the table. Though he was certain that would not help matters. Instead he gave his friends a confused look, but kept his silence.

Cee had gripped onto Shu when she arrived and as the girl joined her, she looped arms as if they were the best girlfriends in the world.

"Oh no problem.." She chuckled a bit and waved a dismissive manicured hand. Her voice stayed at a hush though, to avoid the wrath of Caelius. As if on cue he'd snapped a pencil and she watched wide-eyed and bemused until the ranting was done.

"You wanna git outta here?" She whispered to Shu.

Gale had only nodded at Caelius' observation of his proposal, gritting his teeth and biting back the urge to say something stupid that would most likely get him thrown out of the closest window. He managed to reign in his temper, give a slight incline of his head towards his boss, and murmur a flat, "Thank you, sir," before heading back to the seat near Shiloh, Lucky, and Quinn, the latter of which whom looked positively petrified. There were a few more proposals, a question, and then Gale found himself presented with one of the trainees to accompany him on missions. Quite apart from being surprised that Caelius had not referred to him as Gale #1 or anything remotely referring to Otto, he gave Bradley a small nod in reassurance.

By the end of the meeting, Gale was quite ready to leave, and he gathered up his papers, stuffing them back into the file folder as he stood up -

- and then promptly froze as he heard the rest of Caelius' sentence, a feeling of resignation coming over him as Gale slowly pivoted back around to face the Division Lead. The look on his face was unmistakable, and with a soft sigh, Gale went back to his chair, sat down, and waited for whatever was about to come.

EVERYONE AROUND GALE

Shiloh had several questions that he’d intended to ask as soon as the others had finished, but left his mouth hanging open as Caelius cut in with some further information about reports and then a look that said quite clearly that their row of seats would be staying behind for detention.

He sighed a little, closed his mouth and fidgeted in his chair. His questions were probably confidential anyway, though he didn’t exactly expect any winning or insightful answers from his highness. But if he could at least get the clearance to work on things on his own, without fear of dismemberment or blowing up, then he was sure he could track down the information he was looking for. He made a note to speak to Gale afterwards, and perhaps Kostya, if he could manage to find the courage to talk to the other hunter. He’d caused him quite a blunder after all, and though he worried, he couldn’t blame Kostya if he saw him as incompetent.

Either way, for now, he sat. Sat and squirmed, like an energetic five-year-old told to stay put. A couple of hunters caught his eye as they whispered, one he recognized from one of the dream sequences, the other was unfamiliar. They did, however, look far more pleasant than was the norm in the division, and he made a mental note to talk to them later as well.

So many mental notes, he thought, leaning back a bit in his chair. He was probably going to forget.

Hanna arrived punctually -- and with a notebook in hand to boot.

Though the Death trainee had one thousand ideas (roughly) for various projects, she was not the type to blindly demand funding until she had properly explored every angle of her concept. It itched at her mind not to raise a hand, but it was the sensible thing to do. And so she remained sensible. It was easy to remain quiet in Caelius' presence anyway.

Seated near the front, Hanna crossed one leg over the older, twirling her pen in her fingers. A few proposed projects she would love to help on -- though, in truth, they all intrigued her on some level. She nearly raised her hand to volunteer assistance with Kostya, but others chimed in quickly, distracting her train of thought. Hanna didn't want to scramble for popularity if it came down to choosing the best of the best, which likely didn't include her. Plus, she figured any actual appointments could be negotiated later. The trainee made a mental note to follow up with him; they'd already bagged one horseman together on an external mission, after all.

Golden eyes slid to the doorway as Shiloh made a noisy, late entrance. The tsk, tsk in her expression was plain to read, though it was doubtful anyone was looking. This was as much about listening to the proposals as it was about scoping out her peers, at least from Hanna's perspective. Gale stepped up, and Hanna realized, with a start, that she knew him, indirectly, from years ago. He spoke with a directness and eloquence that Hanna immediately felt drawn to, not to mention that his proposal aligned most closely so far with her own interests.

Other voices rose with ideas, but Hanna's notepad remained mostly blank, scribbled only with a few notes on what Caelius said and a couple notes on what Kostya and Gale proposed. The quick efficiency of the meeting was something else that Hanna thought made Death superior to others. If she was going to be part of a secret society, then she sure as hell was going to be in the most intimidating one. She made a mental note to squeeze in one last external mission, if she could, before her review was due. Since this was her first real quarter of consciousness, Hanna assumed it had to be an improvement from the time she spent back in the pods for a second time.

Ourboros, Four Clans, more notes on paper.

Working with Kostya or Gale could help improve her chances at stumbling across critical information. But she had shown success on a mission with Kostya already, which Hanna hoped would make her a viable choice as an assistant on the mission. So, with that, she decided to first try to convince him to take her on. The Death division was dismissed, but it was clear that Kostya had business with Caelius. Hanna got to her feet slowly and moved toward the door to give an appropriate distance out of respect.

Others milled about; hopefully she could grab Kostya’s attention before someone else got to him.

cherno astra
Hanna is waiting to volunteer to help you.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 03, 2014 5:49 pm

Others were volunteering to help-- it was unsurprising. It was a momentous thing to look into, with much gravitas behind it if they could replicate the results. It would change...everything. So Kostya nodded at Cee and Rex before Caelius spoke, offering him a much better deal than the Russian had anticipated.

Of course-- the punishments for failure loomed over his head. He took a seat after Caelius addressed him, listening in on the man directing other, more junior hunters in his direction.

Since the mission bestowed upon him likely fit the bill of classified, the Russian lingered, making no move to leave before Caelius truly finished speaking.

"If your name was not called," Caelius repeated, "you will wait outside until we are finished." It wasn't said with any urgency, but there was a very strong suggestion to urgently evacuate the premises; it seemed Caelius 101 was back on the training menu, and while it made a few more sadistic Hunters' lives far less interesting, it also relatively decreased internal casualties. Relatively. Marginally, as overall on Deus there were greater problems than a Death lead threatening termination.

The door closed behind the last Hunter escorted out, courtesy of Oz, and then the Death lead began. "All of you assembled here have been assigned to very specific tasks. That gives you full Hunter clearance and access to restricted information. You may use the information to your convenience, but anyone sharing restricted information to others will immediately be demoted and have their clearance removed. All information is earned, and opportunity should not be squandered so easily. Next, I will assign you each individual tasks. I will expect all of you fulfill to the best of your limited abilities these tasks. This binds to you to the division as Death Hunters," a blatant look was given towards Lucky, "and you will complete your assignment as Death Hunters."

There were a stack of a few folders, and it seemed Gale, as always, was first, as indicated by the name on the folder. "Gale, you are currently in charge of external Sahara operations. I want you to expand your work to interrogation, and you will work closely with Oz if needed. You will infiltrate, as proposed, and interrogate horsemen. I want very specific information, especially on their secondary locations. By destroying all branches from the tower, we will cut them off from gaining any more power."

Caelius looked at Lucky, but did not even mention his name. "You will continue your infiltration of the Ouroboros bases from where Sam left off. You will find new information on their weapons expansion project, and find as many of their operative bases as possible. Contrary to popular belief, there exists an entire network outside of Deus Ex, and we are becoming obsolete. You will gather as much information about them so that we will be given the opportunity to strike back."

"Next, Konstantin." He took a moment and just stared directly at the Hunter. There was a good indication that he possibly knew. "You will make a decision soon, and a new project proposal based on your decision. If you become a threat, you will be eliminated, but if you choose to become resourceful then you have the opportunity to gain power and advantage. You have already been tasked with weaponization, it is an integral task, and finding a replacement is cost heavy. I will expect you to fulfill this task, as well as submit a report involving your secondary research to me whenever ready." He didn't say any more about this topic.

"Quinn, Shiloh. I want you two on the resurrection project, seeing as both of you conveniently have been branded. You will collect fragments that were once part of the Ancient of Death." He didn't bat an eye. "Nothing is entirely destroyed, everything can be reassembled and used to those who gain greater power. As you have been branded, the fragments will find you. You will collect them and return them to me. Your completion will be properly noted."

All the folders had been properly cycled through, and the Death lead placed them back into his drawer. "If you have any further important questions, you may stay, otherwise you are all dismissed."

OOC

All Hunters listed have official "Intermediate" information clearance. They can now access the information of all Hunters listed on Deus (based on information from the dorm journals/ general information), as well as BASIC relations. Of course they cannot share this information, so they can FIND it but must keep it to themselves
- They may also ICly know more information in regards to the Horsemen (as seen on the new Horsemen guide).

If any Death Hunters have questions they can stay/come back and ask/quite Zoobey!
