"...No." Pisces admitted. "I admit I did not. But I was... Close. I'm the youngest in the court, and... I awakened... At 13 or 14, I think." How long ago was Barren Pines? How far back did the war... She cleared her mind of it quickly. "My court... We were drawn out because of the Negaverse, at Barren Pines." She didn't know how to describe events - did she want to? And a creeping tendril of guilt began snaking up, the old guilt of living - when the others, even briefly, had not. She hadn't been there for them. She suddenly felt, momentarily, like she failed - but they'd been okay in the end! And she pushed the thought aside quickly. "Unfortuanately I moved shortly after and haven't been.... Well, I haven't been around until lately."

“Chibi or not, that's still insanely young to be fighting a war,” Ganymede said.
Sixteen soon-to-be-seventeen had seemed bad enough. Even twenty didn't feel any better, though she knew she'd grown over the years, could acknowledge the differences between her sixteen-year-old self and who she was now. The war came easier to her these days, though she thought it sad that anything involving death and combat should come easy to someone only just leaving adolescence behind.
Again her thoughts drifted to the Surrounding and the few Zodiac Senshi she'd encountered there. She remembered Princess Chronos most of all, but there was Virgo, too, wasn't there? Hadn't Chris been paired with her during one of Gunn's training sessions just a couple of months ago? It seemed it'd been so long since she'd seen any of the Zodiacs, she'd begun to wonder if they were even still around.
Clearly at least one of them had been out of town. Ganymede couldn't entirely blame her, though she knew she could never leave herself. She'd thought about it, but ultimately decided that her place was here.
“What was Barren Pines?” she wondered. “It sounds... familiar somehow. Something about a school. I think I used to hear rumors about it but I never really paid attention back then.”

Pisces' breath hitched and she bit her lip, fidgeting only a moment before looking down. "A slaughter." Was all she seemed able to say, grey eyes cast downward at her skirts and ruffles, the senshi fidgeting a bit. "It was a slaughter. People - died. Because of the Negaverse. Because - " She swallowed. "I don't know fully... But it was.... Horrible."

“You don't have to talk about it if it's too hard for you,” Ganymede said.
She could understand the difficulty. Elysion was never easy to explain, partly because she still didn't really understand what it was, and partly because it brought up too many bad memories she'd rather not have dancing through her mind. The Surrounding was no better, and there still remained so much bitterness she carried around for it, regret that she'd not done more, even if it would have meant earning the ire of the Zodiacs.
If she could go back to that time, she would have destroyed every single one of those mirrors. Even if the Dark Mirror Court and the Negaverse had still found a way in despite what effort they made, at least they would have exhausted every option.
“After something like that, it was probably best to get away for a while,” she observed. “What brings you back now?”

"Maybe. But... I can't help feeling more useful here. With the others... If anyone besides a small number remain, if any at all." Pisces sighed, closing her eyes. Where were Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, her princess now? She'd let them down again. Not anym0ore, even if she was the last Zodiac alive. "I came back for college.... Because my family couldn't keep me away anymore. I... Couldn't run. Not knowing the others remain."

Ganymede heard the sigh, watched the way Pisces closed her eyes. She could recognize fear, regret, and concern when she saw it.
“They're still around,” she said intuitively. “The Zodiacs, I mean. I haven't seen Chronos in a while, not since an ambush the Negaverse staged about two years ago, but I figure we'd've heard about it if she was dead, so she has to be out there somewhere. Virgo's... somewhere. My husband saw her a few months ago. She's around.”
It felt awkward speaking of them as if she knew them, when the truth was Ganymede knew very little about them at all.
“I don't know about the rest,” she admitted. “Anyway, there's still plenty more of us, so... it's probably not the same, but you've got help if you need it.”

Pisces trembled, nodding. "I appreciate that. Truly." She admitted. It was... Frightening not having too many others, and Pisces trembled to think they were missing, hurt, or worse, and a knot formed in her throat. Were they damned to die repeatedly? The thought hurt, and she pushed it from her mind. "I hope the others work well together, at least..." Had the senshi organized?

Ganymede tossed her head back as she laughed. It was not the hearty chuckles of one who found any sort of delight in Pisces's comment; rather, it carried a tone of irony. It ended a few moments later and she went back to watching the other girl. Ganymede's eyes twinkled with suppressed mirth.
“I wouldn't say we work well together, no,” she admitted.
Even so, she didn't sound entirely bothered by that fact.
“We're no organized army,” Ganymede continued. “Some of us have our own groups, or teams. You Zodiacs, for example. I'm with the Jovians. Moons of Jupiter, plus a few others without any relation to Jupiter at all. But we know how to work together when it matters. You'll see.”

For a moment, Pisces flinched until she understood what Ganymede was laughing at. amd then the girl frowned, sighing. "I hope so." She said, with no small amount of concern. "We can't do anything without teamwork. Otherwise... They win. What's your team like?" She smiled, trying not to miss the other Zodiacs again. It felt.... Off being cut off and she didn't like it. At all.

“My team's alright. Plenty of different kinds of people involved,” Ganymede said. “You've got me. I'm mouthy and I have a habit of arguing about everything. There's Valhalla, a Knight, whose probably got the highest morals of the bunch. Pasiphae's probably the sweetest person on the entire Earth, but she tends to not draw too much attention to herself.”
There was a certain fondness and pride that entered Ganymede's voice as she spoke about her teammates.
“Europa's the most experienced Senshi on the team. She'd been awakened a long time before I came around. As far as I've been able to tell, I was the second Jovian to come along. Then there's Kallichore. Her sphere's madness and I guess it suits her alright, except she's not quite as mad as I used to think she was. There are others, but... it'd take me a while to go through them all. The team's pretty big, I guess.”

It was nice seeing the other senshi talk about her team. The way Ganymede discussed them showed she paid attention and cared for each, and Pisces smiled softly, letting Ganymede continue with small sounds of acknowledgement. "They're a second family, though." Pisces admitted. "Like the Zodiacs ar3e for me." But all she had was the past, and Pisces hesitated a moment sadly. "Teams are a family. It's good to have that."

Family. Ganymede smiled and nodded her agreement, though the idea of family was something of a touchy subject for her, if only because hers had not always been so peaceful. Besides, the Negaverse liked to claim they were a family, and Ganymede didn't particularly like borrowing any of their ideas.
But still she said, “I think I'd be lost without the Jovians. I wouldn't know who to turn to or what to do with myself.
She sighed, staring up at the night sky and trying to pick out a few stars through the ambient light of the city.
“It's late,” she said. “How long have you been out? We probably shouldn't stay too much longer. Might attract some unwanted attention with our power signatures.”

Pisces smiled, following her gaze and sighed. "A couple hours, admittedly. Investigating layout changes and things... Reaquainting myself." Pierrette smiled shyly. "You? And would you ever like to meet again?"

“About as long as you have then, I guess,” Ganymede said.
She stood to her feet, lifting her arms over her head to stretch. Then she brushed stray grass off of her fuku, shaking out her long red train as she did so.
“I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities for us to meet again. It's been quiet for a while. That usually means something big'll happen soon,” she added. Ganymede summoned her phone from subspace as she continued, “But if you want, go ahead and scan me into your phone. If you ever need anything, or if you're feeling lonely and just want to chat or something, you can send me a text.” Ganymede pointed her phone at Pisces as she said this, scanning the other Senshi into her list of contacts.

"Oh no..." Pisces sighed. "I hope I can help." At the offer, Pisces smiled, nodding as she sowly withdrew her phone, scanning Ganymede for her own contacts. "You can contact me, too." Pisces said, smiling. "I'm always happy to be near others!"
