Rep moved away from the laptop, typing only with his fingertips and outstretched arms, trying to put as much distance between himself and the ******** nightmare crystals as he could while still trying to find the profile.

"Sir is there a trick to getting these things to - " he tried to tug the laptop away from the blackness and addressed the unspecified strangeness instead "- go the ******** away WHILE I ******** WORK."

"Have you tried to press and hold the circular O shaped button with a little I through it." Caelius remained oblivious.

The black had now warped, distorted and shifted into a colourless white. It was forming a giant mirror frame, right on the table. The laptop constituted the bottom border of the mirror frame.

The Death lead had moved on to sending texts on his cell phone while staring majestically out at the ocean.

Rep muttered under his breath as he tried to move further away from the laptop-mirror. "Oh aye I'll just ******** reboot these ******** nightmare crystals, ******** update their OS while I'm ******** at it."

He really didn't want to touch the thing if it had been enough to brutally murder one James Smith, deceased whose ******** file was a complete mystery.

"Is this ******** normal?!" he finally asked aloud, snapping and losing his restrained composure, waving a hand in the direction of the mirror frame. "Because most of my laptops didn't turn into ******** bedroom furniture."

By the time Rep turned back around, Caelius was gone.

Instead, a terrible abomination had emerged from within the mirror, a clear-white crystallized beast made entirely of unblinking eyes and limbs that stretched itself forward, at least ten feet in height and width. A few of its fragmented limbs snagged Rep's ankles, attempting to drag him into the mirror.

The laptop was smashed instantly as collateral damage as several crystal fragments shattered instantly before reforming itself. Despite Rep's best efforts, the remaining fragments were still intent on taking him beyond the veil. More filaments, crystal-white hands, reached out from the mirror surface, tugging at his weapon, attempting to cocoon and smother him.

All he could do was fight back as hard as he was able, twisting Tracey's blade around as the angel commanded him to, trying to free up enough give for a swing.

Focus.>

So he pushed aside the thoughts of the bruises he was still nursing, the helpless rage at Mark and his situation, and trying not to think about how much the laptop he'd just ******** up had cost, he brought the axe down once again with all the force he could muster.

The mirror was all but shattered, the hands and limbs retreating, leaving only fragmented glass behind, showcasing Rep's enraged expression in all his glory.

A tiny crystallized limb may or may not have curled backwards in defeat, trying as a last minute effort to drag the remains of the laptop and all its precious spare parts with it into the void.

Rep got a very marked rush of adrenaline and determination at the mirror giving up its advance, smirking broadly as anger gave way to malicious satisfaction. No c**t was going to trap him, not today, not right now. If Cael wasn't going to help him he'd ******** help himself.

He stomped the tiny crystalline hand with more force than it really warranted, standing disheveled and panting in the wreckage of the parts of the lighthouse which had gotten in the way of his axe.

He fully intended to blame any and all destruction on Cael, because he might get no other ******** job perks to speak of but he was damn well going to take advantage of this one.

It was about then that the Death lead strode back, with a couple of Death Hunters, including Oz, in tow.

He took one look at Rep, eyes immediately sliding to the absolutely destroyed laptop pieces just bare inches away from the axe weapon. It would hardly take a small army of the best Death Hunters to figure out what exactly had happened here.

Oz snorted, and it was pretty obvious he was trying to hide his laughter in a cough.

Silence.

"I hope for your sake," Caelius began, clearly deciding whether two heads rolling on the ground was better than one, "that your division provides coverage for your damage costs. I want all of this cleaned and fixed," he turned to address the other Hunters, "I want everything possible salvaged."

Without another word he left, also leaving behind a lot of Death Hunters who really did not appreciate Rep's sense of decorum.

It would be about four pm when Rep would get the next text.

Rep froze when the others returned and from his moment of triumph over the mirror creature he plummeted into dark despair as everyone - and it just had to be more than just Cael didn't it? - took in the broken laptop and the mess he'd caused. It felt worse than if he'd been found with bits of people all over the floor, he actually cared about laptops and would never willfully harm one.

The idea of Simon trying to cover the costs of more s**t on his behalf made his stomach twist. But he didn't argue, because who would argue that they had been almost killed by something that made no ******** sense at all? They'd just think he was bananas. "Sir yes sir." he said.

With Cael gone, he spent the rest of his time, doing his best to help the snarky Death hunters who rather enjoyed bossing him around.

He had only managed to grab a drink, snack and a brief sit down when the next text came his way, and not knowing what documentation was meant by the text in question, he instead decided to play that he had any ******** idea and brought a notebook and pen, if worst came to worst he could say he picked up the wrong documents and maybe, just ******** maybe survive.

Heading into the room, he really wasn't hopeful at all that things were going to get better.

The door was wide open and there was the Death lead, and Oz it seemed.

"I hate you more than I hate myself," Oz managed to whisper to Rep just as the Sun Hunter entered.

There was also a body on the table and it was bleeding rather profusely, rather questionable as to whether or not it was still dead or alive, the head and chest cavity mostly covered up. Occasionally the body made a wheezing noise so either it was indeed alive or undead, which was still possible. It also notable that both Oz and Caelius were facing away from the body, Oz cleaning up instruments under running water, the Death lead writing his own documentation on actual printed documentation and not homebrew notebook.

"I want you to document the body at the time of death." Caelius didn't even bother turning towards Rep, "Record every single abnormal detail."

The 'body' was still making wheezing noises.

Rep raised a brow at Oz and muttered to himself irritably. "You and me both." before slinking over to the wrecked and wheezing body to inspect it - though after the body in the lighthouse, he was keeping his distance in case there were more creeping crystals or mirrors. The fact that no one in the room seemed too upset that the guy was still alive and probably was just another crazy thing that was consigned to the corner of his mind reserved for things too worrying to deal with. He just had to tell himself whoever this unfortunate ******** was, it wasn't him and right now that was all that mattered.

"Uh. Yes sir." Rep said anxiously, opening his notebook, donning his glasses (hugely self conscious as he did so, because Oz) and getting down to writing.

The only problem was finding things to actually write, he tried at least.

Abnormalities at time of death

Wheezing
Still Alive (?)

He looked up thoughtfully from the notebook "So um. He, she it's not dead yet I'm guessing. Do I have to kill it?"

PostPosted: Tue Jul 22, 2014 10:48 pm

"It is dead," Caelius confirmed irritably.

Another Death Hunter knocked on the door, looking jumpier than usual. Both Caelius and Oz moved out to intercept him. They closed the door behind them, leaving only Rep inside the room.

The body coughed a few more times, and then began to twitch violently.

A hand reached out from under the covers, bloodstained, muttering a mutilated, raspy "Help"."

Well then, he figured. If it was dead, it was dead and that was all there was to it. He wasn't one to question orders or intelligence, it wasn't really his job or his specialty.

Abnormalities at time of death

Wheezing
Still Alive (?) Very Dead

He amended his notepad, crossing out the alive part, because it wasn't alive, even if it was doing the whole wheezing thing.

And coughing.

He took a neat step back from it and noted both the coughing and the twitching before raising both eyebrows at the plea. It was a dilemma, on the battlefield it was really easy to just let the axe fall on whoever he was told to and generally off the battlefield he didn't really give much of a s**t about people in general, people were less important than even the most trivial possessions (with few solitary exceptions). But most people didn't plead for help either. One of Rep's many and varied weaknesses was his desire to feel needed, entirely and completely. It was why his Blue Kingdom self had been so drawn towards extensive torture and why now, faced with someone pleading for help, he felt the tug of desire to step into that gap, to be the rescuer, to be needed for even a moment by one other human being as the most important person in their lives.

But his life was also on the line here, helping in some ridiculous escape attempt with a person who was already - despite all the other things - dead, would do nothing for him.

So he swallowed his dreams of being wanted and instead ventured a question, pen at the ready. "So how's that whole being dead thing working out for you there man?"
