One kin chooses left, but as luck would have it, he gets nudged towards the right or a wrong bump into a wall leads him down the correct path. He didn't mean to go towards the echo but he ends up being able to continue with the maze. __________________________________________________________ thyPOPE Your lucky roll has resulted in you remaining in the maze!

The echoing does turn out to simply be emptiness. The path continues down and down, deeper into the cave. With no pitfalls or dead ends, the kin walking down this path have to assume that this is the correct path. The muffled quiet of the cave eventually returns to replace the strange echoing as they continue their journey. The next time they are given a choice, they face only silence. To the left, there is no sound that any kin could hear. Imagination conjures up illusions of sound, but there is nothing. To the right, there is also no sound. Again, ears and noses trick some kin into hearing or smelling something, but there are no clues. __________________________________________________________ You have 24 hours to respond to this prompt with a short paragraph explaining your kin's decision. Tribe Westfen Kin Flame of the West
The echoing had led him nowhere. Silence met him in every direction. Flame paused for a moment before turning left. He had thought he heard something, but only silence filled his ears.

Tribe: Westfen Kin: Shameless
Shameless grew dreary of the constant sound of her hooves against the cave floor. It almost felt like the echo was taunting her; wandering blindly with no sense of direction or any hints to tell her where to go. She had half a mind to tear the blindfold off in frustration, for surely in the pitch darkness it wouldn't matter if she had it on or not.
Of course, she refrained from doing so (she would probably get disqualified or something and then receive a lengthy speech from her father as a result), but the thought remained until she bumped into a cave wall; another split, it seemed...
There wasn't much to distinguish between the two, though. Though her ears swiveled to try and catch any sounds, there were none to be heard, and there were no especially distinguished smells—only the same damp earth that plagued her nostrils since she'd stepped hoof inside this awful place. She had a feeling about turning right though, be it good or bad (her intuition was never the best per say), and headed in that direction.

Tribe: Westfen Kin: Westward Bound
Soon the echoing faded, and all he knew about the next fork in the cave was that, well, there was one. He kept thinking he'd heard something - but it might have just been another kin moving along, or something rolling. Or nothing: silence meant imagination took over, sometimes. He frowned, and took the left path, merely because he'd turned right before. There was nothing else to be done.

Tribe: Westfen Kin: Time to Go
She headed towards the falling pebbles.
Or, well, she thought she'd been headed in that direction, anyway. In actuality as she continued walking, echoes grew around her - of what? She couldn't tell. There was only one way ahead, and the cave had narrowed so that it was impossible for her to turn around, and walking backwards was inconvenient at best. Slowly, the echoes faded. Her nose met a cool cave wall: ah. She felt along the way, and came to the conclusion that again there were both left and right forks. She took a breath and stepped to the right. She had to go somewhere, right?

One kin chooses left and finds that this silence leads to a simple dead end. There are no crumbling rocks, only a smooth, damp wall that he bumps up against before being led out of the cave by kin stationed there. __________________________________________________________ Minsuil Unfortunately, you didn't roll, so Flame of the West has been led out of the maze!

One kin chooses left, but luck is on he side. Due to some random nudge or wrong turn, he ends up going the opposite direction he meant to go and ends up going down the correct path. He joins the other kin who chose to go right. __________________________________________________________

The silence leads to nothing. This path is entirely empty, devoid of anything except the mushrooms that brush against legs as kin pass them by. The path winds on and on, taking turns but offering no choices to the kin walking it. The darkness stretches these empty spaces into eternity. When they are finally met by another choice, left or right, this time, some are relieved, there are clues to be had. To the left, there is a rushing sound, almost reminiscent of the howling of wind even though there is no movement in the air. To the right, there is the sound of running water, trickling along. It seems to meet no resistance or ending, just going on and on. __________________________________________________________ You have 24 hours to respond to this prompt with a short paragraph explaining your kin's decision. Tribe: Westfen Kin: Shameless
Relieved indeed, Shameless was glad to be met with sounds after the drawled silence, even though the sudden rushing sound had made her jump. Her ears flattened against her head regardless, hissing through her teeth as she realized there was another fork. The howling had died down considerably, leaving her to wonder if it was made by someone (or something), but she could scent no kin nor any other beast, leaving the cause of the sound unsolved (perhaps for the better).
As she stood there pondering, the trickling of water caught her attention. Not nearly as loud as the sound before, it was a much preferred ambiance; not to mention it sounded as if it was continuing on and on and on and well—the water could perhaps go further than she could, but Shameless still decided it would be a better chance than trying the path with the fake-wind howling noise. Marching forward with a certain determination (if only because she wanted to be done already), she managed to ignore the fungus at her feet as she went right.

And...nothing. Sun walked along for a while, unsure if he was imagining the mushrooms or if they were indicating that he was about to be removed from the maze. But soon enough he came to another fork - he'd made the right decision. (Well, he'd made the wrong one, but he was blissfully unaware of that fact.) He cocked his head carefully, discerning first the wind - which was louder - and then the water, slow and steady. It was slightly less intimidating, he thought, and he turned right to follow it. It sounded like it was trickling: there must be little enough of it that he'd be fine.

Tribe: Westfen Kin: Time to Go
Time to Go, too, stomped along the path with determination. She didn't care much for this maze, preferring the songs and beauty of the swamp to...blindness. Quiet. Almost solitude. And she was glad to finally start hearing things again: the melodic trickle of water, the gathering power of wind. She appreciated that, since - well - where would you find wind in a cave? It had to lead aboveground, she reasoned. Maybe it was time for the cave to reach its finish. So she turned left with eagerness. Someone give her the sun!

Two kin choose the running water, but through a series of lucky missteps, they end up on the path that leads towards the strange rushing sound. They join the group that chose the correct path and continue their journey. __________________________________________________________ Melancholies Your lucky roll has resulted in you remaining in the maze! thyPOPE Your lucky roll has resulted in you remaining in the maze!

Those that end up following the path filled with the rushing sound find that it comes from a small hole in the cave that somehow leads up to the surface and lets air in. They can't see it, but each one feels it as they pass it by. The slight wind passes over their wet backs and causes them to shiver as they press onward on the journey that never seems to end. The next choice they have gives them two sounds that suggest that there are other creatures in this cave besides them. To the left, there is the soft sound of scuttling, perhaps of beetles or other small insects making their way across rock. To the right, there is rustling sound that speaks of something a little bigger than small insects. __________________________________________________________ You have 24 hours to respond to this prompt with a short paragraph explaining your kin's decision. Tribe: Westfen Kin: Shameless
Even though Shameless had unknowingly bumbled her way in the correct path, she was not nearly as startled by the rushing sound as she had been previously. It was quieter now; in fact she hardly heard it, more or less feeling it as she passed under the natural ventilation shaft. Cold on her skin, yes, but the smell was reminiscent of home and gave her hope that maybe she would soon be done with this exhausting endeavor. She had a lot more better things to do rather than fumble blindly in a cave.
But alas, there's another fork and thus another decision. The hunter perked up at the sound of life, trying to decipher the cause with merely her hearing (there wasn't much to smell in the damp cave interior other than water, anyway). She wasn't exactly too keen on the rustling from the right, as the scuttling sound reminiscent of insects sounded much less threatening. She quickly veered left, beginning to get antsy with anticipation of maybe finishing this forsaken maze.
