He was still fighting her. His brow was wet. She closed her eyes.
"M..Me?" She squeaked again, looking at the lathered wound. Her hands were shaking.
Her hands were shaking and she wasn't sure if she could do this. She grabbed the bandages, unrolling them and moving closer to the skin. Red, wet. Not blood but it smelled rusty like it.
She flinched as she gently touched the bandage down.

Noemi nodded, watching as the hunter left and laced her hands together.
"Should I practice on one of the princess golems?"

"Yes, I think that would be a good plan. Or keep coming in and practicing and live patients."

Lex finished his task of applying mineral oils and administering pain killers to the Hunter, hooking them up to an IV of liquids and nutrients for the time being. "Good job, Noemi. Let's move on to the next one..."

[ Patient Confidentiality ]"Well, the rules say we can't... but gossip happens. Lex shrugged, smiling. "Is there something you'd like to hear?" Another sip of coffee. "Altruism is the idea that one helps others to benefit themselves - even if it's just to feel good about oneself."

"Y...Yes sir." She finished the wrapping, looking sadly at the hunter who was finally relaxing after the pain. Maybe it was the pain meds? Maybe it was just the need to shut it out.
He was just one of many. She'd get used to this. She told herself she would.

"I was..." She fidgeted a bit. "How...do you know...ah...." She took a bite of her salad to chew over the thought. "Do hunters die here, of their wounds? Have you seen a hunter die here....after being wounded?" She didn't know if that was...really confidential. But she was curious.

Lex winced at the next patient they'd decided to pay a visit to. Holes riddled her arms and were swollen with puss and reeking of blood and decay.
"Looks like she had a run-in with Famine..."

[ Patient Confidentiality ]Lex held his mug in hand, staring at the black liquid for a while. "Not that I have seen. If a Hunter dies, its usually on the field. Or under the table, I guess." He breathed, taking another sip of the lifeblood.
"Though I suppose it wouldn't be unheard of."

Noemi had gotten used to carrying the general supplies around for Lex. It wasn't a big bag of supplies, just the personal ones that Lex liked to use. Specifically for him since she was shadowing him and all.
Their next patient earned a wide eyed stare from Noemi and a small muffled sound of distress as she set the bag up on the table for the life hunter.
She had to resist the urge to be sick, just from smell alone. It worsened only when she had to look at the wounds but...
"Where do you want me to start...." Noemi wouldn't back down from this. She was trying to be part of the infirmary after all. This would be nothing compared to what others faced.

[ Patient Confidentiality ]Noemi let that sit for a moment. She wouldn't be able to save all hunters, but it wasn't uncommon that was the case. She wondered if she adopted the mentality that hunters were like the animals of her farm, it would make it easier.
"What's...the worse thing you've ever seen...in the infirmary?"

"The worst thing I've seen in here?" His eyes narrowed, lips sucking on an empty coffee mug now. He'd seen plenty of things in the infirmary, many that haunted him for quite some time. Acid poured into an eye, gauged out eyes, accidental amputations, terrific burn wounds, puss filled burrows in human skin. Anything and nearly everything, he'd seen.
""It changes upon the day. You see a lot of horrible things."

[ Patient Type: Bug Wounds ]Lex was grateful for Noemi's diligence in carrying his gauze, bandages, IV pouches, and pain killers. He quickly grabbed all those things from his bag and set them on the metallic tray beside the cot.
Unlike Noemi, he was no longer effected so adversely by the smells and sights of the infirm. Taking a patch of gauze and dabbing it with rubbing alcohol, Lex took a deep breath in before applying it to one of the open sores. "Clean her wounds out like I am. The bugs are gone." Thankfully.

"So you've seen too many?" Noemi reached over to take Lex's hand and squeeze. "Does it becoming...numbing?"
