Deryk desummoned Tooley at that point to avoid any further accidents with his hidden blade. Biting his lower lip, he scratched his head and gave a sort of weak chuckle.
"Sorryaboutthat.Shejustkindofpoppedoutdidn'tmeantodothat," he blathered out before letting out a sigh.
"Not really, no. And not Ezio. Wouldn't be able to be as suave as him. Ever."

Chel patted Deryk on the back slightly. It seemed like he was in more pain and worry over her shoulder than she was. She wondered if he was going to actually explode with how fast he was talking. Poor thing.
"What? You totally could," Chel said, holding up her two hands to make a little picture frame, wherein she pictured a suave Deryk. Okay ... maybe not ... "But even so, you don't gotta be suave and s**t. You're fine the way you are and all that."
She rubbed her chin slowly. "Are there any girls on the island you're interested? Or dudes or whatever."

Deryk's brow furrowed as he stood there twiddling his thumbs together.
"Never really gave much thought. Little point in it anyway..." he mumbled as he fidgeted in place, "Look. Not really important. Um. You need ice or anything for shoulder?"
He eyed the shoulder again, hoping she'd drop the other topic.

Chel opened her mouth to protest, but if Deryk didn't want to talk about it, Chel wasn't going to force him. She was a firm believer in taking relationships at your own pace.
Instead, she shrugged and that caused her to recoil from the movement in her shoulder. "Ouch. Yeah, ice should be good." She rolled it a little more slowly, testing its limits. "Probably not gonna need more than that though. Coulda been worse if you were really tryin'."
She clapped her good arm around Deryk's next and said, "Take me there, assassino."

"Not sure about that. Worse injuries come from accidents," he nodded grimly. He was pretty certain Rep wasn't trying to kill him that day but...
Deryk shook his head, paling a little at the memory of all of that. It may have very well been his closest brush with death. And it wasn't even from a horseman or whatever. He hadn't exactly been put into a coma with his other injuries too, for that matter.
"But yes. Ice. Should help. Just don't freeze shoulder. Would be problematic."
Was it possible? Well if they had runic icepacks anywhere...
He could see it happening.

Chel nodded in agreement. "Very true, little dude. You know a lot of first aid or somethin'?" she asked him.
As they walked, Chel could feel her fear shield repairing. The ice would help with the pain, but really at most she needed a good meal and a nice nap. "So with your huntery stuff, what're you working on?" Might as well make conversation. "Or is it one of those if-I-tell-you-I-have-to-kill-you situations."
His last name was bond.

"Not much. Just... personal experience, yes," he said slowly. Deryk was about to reply to her other question, but paused as she made a little jest. A weak smile came across his lips there. It soon faded off, however.
"No. Nothing that exciting. Just some training. Some pod watching. Cleaning... Stuff around the island sort of thing..."
It was really far from exciting. But he kind of had been wanting to lay low and out of sight. It seemed safer that way to him. And he was still doing work, so people probably couldn't really get onto him or anything like that. At the same time, a part of him felt that there wasn't really any way to be completely safe anymore. He sort of gave that up in becoming a hunter in the first place.

"I feel that, I feel that," she said in agreement. "Somebody's gotta do it, right?" After all, if nobody checked the pods, no new hunters. Daily duties were important- Chel had that drilled into her since she was little, and she found it somewhat comforting on Deus.
Looking to Deryk, she added, "No secret death projects?"

"Nope. Nothing now. Just... normal tasks. Stuff," Deryk shrugged as they continued on towards the infirmary. It wouldn't be too long before they could grab an ice pack for Chel, and then he could... go back to doing whatever. He was just glad that he hadn't actually done any real damage to her there. The blond hunter wasn't sure how he'd feel if he accidentally crippled another in what was supposed to be a friendly training exercise.
