I would have to say that both are very good authoers. Some of Anne Rice's books are...well hard to read. I find Lestat s great character but the way she writes him makes them hard to read. Laurall K. Hamilion's books are much easier to read and have more flow to them, if you know what I mean. Also her characters are easier to realte to then Anne Rice's.

As much as I like Anne Rice I have to say that Laurell's style of writing grabs me more than Anne's. Laurell's books have a lot more action and can keep me entertained for longer than Anne Rice's books. I have to be in a certain mood to read Anne's books whereas I can read Laurell's books any time and get sucked in. Just my opinion but I think Laurell is a better writer than Anne.

Laurell K. Hamilton fits the mold of the style of author I enjoy reading more so. I guess if you're a detail freak, LKH might not appeal as much as Anne Rice. I think LKH also has a better character list. Lestat doesn't fit the mold of a Vampire. He fits the mold of someone with megalomania. He's just lucky Edward can't jump to that World blaugh

I completely agree with you on Anne Rice. Her writing is way too flowery. Yes, the couch is blue, but I that doesn't warrent you to tell me the favric, maker, and history of it.
"The couch was a brilliant blue"- how Laurell K. Hamilton writes "The cornflower creation was a wonderful silk, and looked like a fabric came right from the clouds. The creator must have had a vision on what the davenport should have looked like, and did all in his power to make sure the vision came to life."- How Anne Rice writes
The examples were just created out of my head(and my opinion); sorry if they're not accurate

I like Anne Rice, but she's hard to read. I'm a very avid reader, and it took me a while to finish one of her books. But she is a good writer. I would definately prefer LKH though.

I liked Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, but Laurell grabbed me with Anita blake and I can't escape. I love old language writing styles, but I think the more modern writing style with all the different accents mixed into one just grabbed me. I couldn't imagine that with Anne.

I adore LKH books, but I have only read a few of Rice's books. THough inmy fav book list has to be Rice's Sleeping Beauty books. they are so amazing, and llike nothing you have read or expected. i love them. But as far as long term series go, LKH hands down wins.

I prefer Laurell K. Hamilton to Anne Rice because Hamilton's style is more entertaining.. its more real world issues.. while Anne Rice has a complexity that some writers fail to address..but the complexities sometimes make the story drag and it gets a little boring.

I prefure LKH to AR, because, hey, even though their is alot of sex in LKH's world of Anita Blake, (and I like sex) Anne Rice is just a bit ******** in the head because she is waaaaayyyy to detailed about mundane things. Sex details, I'm always willing to read...whereas in depth detail about a depressed male vampires life....is not my favorite.
Although I do enjoy the vampire armand..but nothing else really. twisted
I need to tally how many times Anita gets laid in each story. ninja
