Everything seemed to happen in a whirlwind of motion, leaving Henrik feeling slightly baffled and more than slightly jealous, thank you Preacher. He still wasn't entirely sure what was going on between himself and Alec. He felt a fondness for the younger man that was new to him; it wasn't an emotion that could easily be put into words, really, but all Henrik knew was that it felt right, and it felt comfortable, and he very much enjoyed being in Alec's company. Quite honestly, Henrik was still reeling over what had spilled forth from Preacher, but with the final handful of words she'd said before departing, Henrik's mouth was left feeling dry, and that jealousy...

That jealousy... it was a bitter thing. Henrik didn't like it.

The gravedigger cleared his throat and rose to his feet, rubbing the back of his tanned neck as he shuffled towards the little kitchenette. He busied himself pouring two glasses of lemonade - fresh squeezed and delightfully sweet and tart. He wordlessly offered one to Alec before drinking from his own glass, leaning back against the big, thick table that dominated the living space.

Once he was finished with his glass (which had been decimated with only a few swallows) Henrik finally met Alec's eyes.

"You do not have to. It is.. it is fine. I just thought. Well."

Henrik took a moment to stick his hand into his pocket, withdrawing a very crumpled, very sad looking piece of paper. Almost reverently, he unfolded it before smoothing the wrinkles from it. He gave Alec a crooked sort of smile while holding the paper out to the redhead. It had the picture of the cat that Alec had drawn him; he'd kept it in his pocket since receiving it, just as he'd sworn he would.

"I am not so good at this sort of thing, Alec."

Henrik cleared his throat again and moved to sit back on the couch.

"You do not have to explain. I just want to tell you that I like you very much. And.. it is okay if you do not like me the way that I like you. I only wanted to tell you face to face and not through letters."

His crooked smile turned a little sheepish.

"We have not known one another so long, and you are off in the military, but Alec, I like you. Like you. And.. well, that is all. I am sorry if this all seems awkward, I do not want it to be. And I do not want to make it more awkward, but.. I feel better for telling you while you are here and I can look into your eyes while I say it."

Henrik's broad shoulders lifted in a shrug. His cheeks were a little flushed.

"Do you like the lemonade?"

Alec's mind struggled to grasp the details he finally relaxed as the other got up, fetching them each a glass of what looked absolutely heavenly in terms of content wise. The red head didn't even recall the last time he'd had a good glass of chilled lemonade. While the other practically chugged his glass, he sipped at it brows shooting up half way across his forehead in surprise from the tart and sweet combination but sipped grateful no less. (Savioring the drink for what it was worth)

Lowering the glass, Alec took his time to swirl the contents of the glass. Alec went silent, listening as the other spoke hanging on his words. Standing, choosing not to sit just yet he was presented with the letter he recalled he and Axel writing a few weeks back the moment he laid eyes on the contents. "You really did keep it with you.." He smiled then, most of the sense of awkwardness shifted away to much happier reaction. About to say something else, he lowered the paper, looking at Henrik as continued to explain himself clearing his throat as needed. The more he talked..the wider the shorter males eyes became.

There was a long pause, in which nothing was said and Alec simply took another drink from the glass, finishing the beverage before setting it on the table, closer to the middle so it wouldn't fall off accidentally somehow. It was Alec’s turn to clear his throat before he tried using his words again. "It..is actually a relief to hear that. I didn't know...how you really felt. Its easier when I don't have to wait a week nearly for someone to read me a letter." He admitted shyly grabbing one of the few chairs for the large, homey table pulling it up so they could sit together. "I like you as well..a lot. I don't know if that means anything, but military or not Henrik, n-no its not awkward at all!" Alec quickly insisted blurting out the last bit. While looking someone in the eyes took confidence he usually lacked, Henrik at least deserved the full eye contact he so willingly sought.

By the Walls, was Henrik's skin flushed? The other may have had a darker tan to his skin, however Alec swore for sure it was the case. It brought a small sheepish smile to his face. Most calming of all, the older seemed to understand the weird situation he'd been in..and wasn't mad. In fact he was sharing with him his feelings seemingly.

The trainee swore his heart began racing in that instance, by far faster than usual. It did nothing for his own flustered appearance.

Flushing slightly he nodded reaching for the glass grabbing the small ice cube still in the glass and thoughtfully chewing on it, simply because it still tasted like the liquid he'd finished. It was strange talking about lemonade after such an intimate confession...but Alec opened his mouth to reply all the same. "Yes, it's very good. Did you make it yourself?" He asked about the lemonade tilting his head slightly.

Henrik didn't answer. He was just silent, staring at Alec, a big and goofy smile on his face. He'd hoped that maybe, someday, he'd hear the very words he was hearing now. It was almost too good to believe, and Henrik didn't know what to say. Talking about lemonade after such a serious thing seemed a little too mundane, and so Henrik did the only thing he could think to do.

He kissed Alec, square on the lips, carefully cupping the redhead's cheek. It was an innocent, lemon-sweet sort of thing, a little sticky and a little cold. But it was a kiss, and the emotion behind it was undeniable. It was almost over before it really started, more a kiss of happiness and celebration than passion and intimacy. The redhead's lips were chilly; it was an interesting comparison to Alec's warm cheeks.

"Yes," Henrik mumbled as he pulled away, suddenly finding it absolutely necessary to answer Alec's question about the lemonade. "I have one lemon tree that grows, and this time of year is very good for lemon-picking." He dropped his hands to his thighs and merely started at Alec, looking a little embarrassed and a lot giddy.

Alec might have said something further, but that goofy grin on Henrik's face had stopped his talking. His own smile lined his face, the nervous worry absolved in a moment’s notice with the sudden act presented to him of the older not only grabbing his face, but pressing a kiss to his lips. A gloved hand reached up to touch one of the hands on his flushed face, a little silly smile of his own to match in that brief moment they had stayed close. Alec dropped his hands back in his lap blinking realizing unlike his first by the lake, this had been less demanding and something altogether gentler.

Certainly this hadn’t been how he’d expected to be greeted but it certainly wasn’t terrible. The now trainee gave the other a searching considerate look before he leaned his elbows on the table, listening to his explanation about his question. It was a little strange he had to admit, but he wasn’t unhappy. The furthest thing from it even, and when Henrik was done with his explanation he slid off his chair, standing up and hugging the other without explanation. With the other sitting it gave the illusion he was taller. The red head stayed like this a moment, pressing a soft kiss to the top of his head before taking a small step back.

“Mind showing me around your garden like you promised?” He grinned suddenly, tugging at the others shirt sleeve trying to get the other to his feet.

Henrik chuckled against Alec, keeping his hands on his thighs while the redhead hugged him. It was a good start; they'd gotten their feelings out, and now that it was done and Henrik's fears of rejection were abolished... well, now he could really and truly enjoy Alec's company. When Alec pressed a kiss to the top of his head, Henrik's heart melted just a little bit - and the urge to wrap his arms around Alec was incredibly strong, but then the redhead was moving away and tugging on his sleeve. Henrik chuckled again, the sound rich and filled with contentment, and rose to his feet.

"Yes, come with me."

Henrik stooped just enough that he could take Alec's hand in his own, and then led him outside.

"It is just around the house."

He tested Alec's hand in his own, squeezing his fingers lightly against Alec's. He liked the way his skin was so dark compared to Alec's fairer skin. He liked how soft Alec's hand felt in comparison to his own; not to say that Alec's hands were smooth - training had definitely taken its toll on his hands - but compared to Henrik's hands, well. They were definitely smoother.

As they rounded the house, Henrik's steps slowed. The garden was modest in size, but it was filled with ripening vegetables, countless flowers, berries and fruits - and three trees - one lemon, one apple, and one peach. Fruit hung heavy on all three of them, ripe and lush.

"My garden," Henrik introduced proudly, squeezing Alec's hand again.

Alec's only hesitation was the fact the gesture was rather sweet, and unexpected. Henrik's hand by comparison was darker, the evidence of his line of work vs what training had shaped in his palms was something he could easily grow accustomed too. He squeezed back on the others palm when he did peering up the distance between them with a smile lining his face.

"You weren't kidding, wow.." He was use to the site of his mothers own handy work, although she only kept small potted plants usually. "This is really impressive." Alec grinned up at the other, reluctant to release his hand but doing so only so he could walk under one of the fruit trees. Pressing a gloved hand against the bark he sat himself down in the shade leaning against the older tree as the pair chatted.

"Did you actually plant everything here then?" Alec mused, elbows on his bent knees all the while. In his going to sit down, he'd indicated if he could grab down one of the fruits, and not being told no grabbed an apple and rubbed it off first on his sleeve before biting into it gesturing for him to join given the hand motion.

While he had leave, he felt selfish really. Taking up what time he could before he had to head back to Wall Rose and re-enter the military compound.

"I did, yes." Henrik was incredibly proud of his garden, and it was obvious in the lines of his face. He watched Alec move towards the fruit tree, grinning broadly as the redhead plucked an apple free from the tree.

Henrik seated himself on the ground next to Alec, legs outstretched and crossed at the ankles. He leaned back on his elbows and merely watched the trainee eat the apple fresh from the tree. There was something pretty wonderful about enjoying the fruits of labor - Henrik was glad that Alec was able to enjoy the fruit, and the garden.

He felt eager, excited, and a little apprehensive. The last thing he wanted to do was to make Alec feel uncomfortable or pressured or anything negative. Henrik wanted the time that Alec spent with him to be nothing but pleasant, and so he did not force any contact, no holding of hands, nothing of the sort. There would be time later, when they were able to decide what they actually were to one another.

At least now there could be no confusion as to what Alec meant to Henrik. That alone was a rather impressive accomplishment, at least to Henrik.

"Is it good?"
