Now that was more like it. There was nothing quite like going back to the extreme basics of fighting with tooth and claw, while
out of mount form. Shaheen sometimes preferred the use of her own hands to that of steel, (especially when dealing with Shik, it would seem), and having a chance to trade blows with the other man in this way was refreshing, though he clearly held the upper hand as he rained blows against her and her shield faster then she could keep up with, arms blocking what they could but becoming scratched and bloodied in the process.
His words were a small revelation in and of itself. He knew that Shik's relationship with his parents wasn't ideal, much like he knew of hers with her parents.
"Mine...saw me as a tool, nothing more." It was a weak reply to the way he had opened up to her, but he knew the rest of it. She had not hidden much from him by way of their treatment of her, of the attempted drownings used as punishment, of the nights spent locked outside, forced to sleep on the ground or perched in a tree, of the days she missed class because of how badly they had beaten her for not doing things just exactly the way they had wanted her to.....
But this wasn't about
her, it was about him, a man who it seemed to her was coming completely unhinged just at this small discussion of a potential promotion, a change in status, a chance at just a little more power....
And he was fighting it, fighting her. It was his choice to make, not hers, however.
"You asked for my reasons." She huffed between blows, attempting to find an opening in his relentless assault, an assault that forced her back, though she took it a step further wings flaring as she used the extra added space to jump in the air and sweep at him with a kick that had her twisting in the air, her foot connecting, breaking through his Fear shield with a solid crack.
She landed, crouched, eyeing him warily on the off chance he should continue to attack.
"Do you still want to hear them?" HP: 24
