"I was not a farmer," said Arorangi with a smile. "But my family did a lot of gardening because we like fresh fruits and vegetables to eat! We had a field in our backyard, plus we often climbed the trees to get to the good coconuts, the ones you have in America are the brown kind, the kind we feed to the pigs." He made a face. "Real coconuts are green on the outside, not fuzzy and brown like hair."
His lips curved upwards in a smile. " 'Aroha' is a term of affection," Arorangi explained. "It means dear, or sweetheart in Maori, the language of my culture. I am from New Zealand, in Auckland! I came to America when I was in my teenage years after my father passed away."
"And yes," Arorangi added, grinning, "I did play rugby, mostly in high school. Americans do not play as much as Kiwis do, but it is still fun!"

She blinked because she felt like she was learning SOOOO MUCH. He was not a farmer but he sounded like he had farm like home. "Oh..Oh I didn't know that about coconuts! How come they send us brown ones?" She frowned, "Are green ones better, sweeter?" she wondered if she should look up coconut dishes to make too! That would be good.
"O...Oh. Sweetheart." She made a small noise, "Oh...but...I am not your sweetheart?" She waved her hands in front of her, "I...I mean...I mean I am not...I am not someone precious to you! I mean...I mean...." She covered her face. "Do...Do you have another nickname? L...Like you can call me...Mimi if you want." Others did and that didn't bother her.
"K...Kiwis?" She was losing him now. She was lost.

"It is cheaper to send the brown ones," said Arorangi with a nod. "They are easier to pick and they are more common, so they use them for easy money. But I say bah, because I will just climb the tree to get the coconut I want, it is much cheaper and more tasty that way!"
His smile was wide, but there was a gentle note to it as Arorangi looked down at Noemi. "Sweetheart and dear are not only names for those precious to me, they are just meant as a term of kindness to pretty young ladies," he said. "But if you do not wish for me to call you that, I will not! I will call you Mimi, or maybe toutouwai. It is a type of robin," he added, smiling all the more broadly.
Arorangi pushed a few dreads from his shoulder with a tattooed hand. "Kiwi is a term for Maori!" he said brightly. "It means the people from New Zealand, my home! I am a kiwi, and so was my father, we are both kiwis!"

"Ohhhhh but they cost so much!" Noemi frowned, wasn't that the way at america, charging more for lower quality. "Aren't...coconuts really high up?" She looked at Aro, "That's reall...really dangerous. I hope you're being careful!"
She blinked twice, mostly because she was still trying to process. She should be used to endearing terms from strangers but it was always a...it was just a mindset she wasn't good at handling. When Finn said it, she assumed it was just out of...well...she didn't think he was very sincere with it. Aro...SEEMED sincere!
"Um...I wouldn't mind...Tou..touwai." She nodded, "I...I just am no sweetheart." She nodded again.
"O...Oh! So you are not american? That is...That's so interesting!" She inched a little closer, "Are all Maori's...so large?" She wondered if maybe it was because she was small that everyone seemed much bigger.

"They are not so high!" said Arorangi, tapping a finger against his chin thoughtfully. "Sometimes when the trees are watered well, they grow past the roofs of the houses, and then I must be careful when I climb so as to not lose my grip, but I have been climbing coconut trees since I was a child! I have grown used to their feel, so I climb them and I get the coconuts to eat and drink!"
He smiled and swept his dreadlocks from one broad shoulder. "Toutouwai it is, then," he said, and it was clear that he didn't quite agree with the not a sweetheart comment, but abiding by her wishes was important, and he did not want to make her feel uncomfortable. Arorangi shoved his hands into the pockets of his pants.
"No, not American," he said with a laugh. "Though I have lived in America for the past five years! And the Maori are a very large people in general, yes, though there are the occasional small one. My cousins were all small, though not as tiny and pretty as you," he added, with a teasing wink.

"You must...You must be very brave to keep climbing up so high!" Noemi smiled at him, "I don't think I could ever...I don't think I could ever get so high." She murmured. "I'm not really brave....enough to climb that high. yeah." She shifted her folders.
"Thank..Thank you!" She cocked her head, "Should I call you anything? Since..Since you've given me a nickname?" And it might be easier then Arororoangi. Or however you said his name.
She made a flustered sound at being called cute and tiny because fkdjflksdjk. She didn't think she was cute, but she was tiny. "I see! Maori are generally large? That must be..." don't be rudeeee, "fun! Oh do you like America? Where did you live? I'm from a small town in texas." She nodded, "From small farm on texas yes."

"You could!" said Arorangi, giving Noemi an enthusiastic look, his smile bright. "Anyone could do it if they just wanted it enough! And please," he waved a large hand. "My name is good enough, though if it is too hard to pronounce, you are free to call me Aro. I usually go by Arorangi, but any variation I will answer to!"
He gave her what he hoped was an encouraging look. "I have lived in the middle of Nebraska," Arorangi answered cheerfully. "With a friend, it was a very beautiful place! Very flat, but very beautiful. I do prefer New Zealand, though."

"A..Aro is easy! If you don't mind." Noemi nodded. "th..Thank you." She let the folders rest at her sides again, relaxing just a bit more around the larger mountain hunter.
"I've never been to Nebraska!" Noemi's eyes widen, "Isn't it awfully cold up there?" She waited, "Is New Zealand cold?"
She looked at her folders. "Oh! Do you want...to come with me to drop these off? I fear I've been s..standing here too long and they might be missing these!"

He tilted his head from side to side as though considering. "It can get cold sometimes," he said agreeably, after a moment. "But then there are days when it is very hot. I do not mind the hot days, though, I am used to them, so I like them better than the cold. New Zealand is both hot and cold, so it has a nice mix of both! Our seasons are switched, however; in what you think is the summer is our winter, so I am still getting used to that."
He realized he'd kept her from wherever she was going, Arorangi looking concerned. I am sorry for keeping you!" he said quickly, and stepped out of the way. "I will escort you to drop them off, please accept my apologies! Are you just going to the offices?"
