Preacher arched one brow. Hot damn, the girl was in love. It was adorable; Harper was adorable. She opened her mouth to reassure the girl because, really, who would reject a soft, pretty thing like she was? But Preacher wouldn't know. It wasn't like the shorter girl had any experience... not much. She'd lived as a boy for so long that this whole acting like a girl thing was very, very new. And a little confusing.

Then Harper breathed out Axel's name and Preacher froze, the smile falling from her lips. Him? Of all people? But no, there were other Axels, other gentlemen who were tall and pleasing to the eye. It did matter, Harper! But Haper was a good girl, a nice girl. If it were him, maybe she could wish them well. Still, when her voice came out, it was a little tight, a little strangled. Of course it wasn't the Axel she knew; that infuriating person. Of course not. "Axel? Oh, um. I know a gent by tha name. I'ma sure ya can... can get him! Use ya looks, Harper! And-"

Luckily, the bells sounded, cutting off Preacher before she could babble out something embarassing. It was for dinner or another class or something that was not mucking out stalls. She shrugged at Harper. "Gots ta go. Lemme know iffin ya need some more advice. Be.. be confident!" And Preacher high-tailed it out of the barn.
