Molly gave over the plate with ease, because she was still too busy staring at how perfectly, quickly, and nicely Al had chopped up that onion. Wow...way better than her! She blinked though, confused as Al denied it. "Oh...but..." She pointed a finger at him. "But I saw...you..." Her finger dropped and she looked back at the onion. "You did a really awesome job!" Molly then snapped out of her stupor and moved over to the diced up onion. She picked up the cutting board and deposited the contents into a pot that was cooking the stew. Returning to her station, Molly resumed cutting other vegetables, moving onto potatoes next.

Al was turning a rather apparent shade of bright pink as he pretended he absolutely could not talk while there was food. Food he was eating very very slowly. He ruffled his own hair thoughtfully and tried to distract with a new subject.
"Nice weather lately, huh?"

The thunk thunk thunk sound resumed as Molly chopped the potatoes, briefly glancing up at Al before glancing back down. "Oh...yes!" She nodded her head a bit. "I like the cooler months, though, personally but the weather has been really nice!" There was a pause. "Do you do a lot of cooking?" Molly asked with a smile. Sorry Al, you weren't escaping.

"I like the summer because that's when all the bugs were out." He was about to leap into stories of chasing bugs on summer evenings while on holiday - but instead he sputtered as her line of questioning continued.
He was turning a bit more red in colour now. "I-I, no. I do not cook," at this point if she looked at him absolutely no eye contact would be kept. "Why are you asking me such a thing anyway?"

Actually, Molly would have been delighted to hear about Al's bug catching tales, but the cooking was still very relevant, thus she wasn't distracted from the subject. She blinked again. "...Oh..." Molly looked rather lost, staring at Al who was not looking at her. "Um...because you chopped the onion so well! Like those professional chefs on T.V.!" She tilted her head. "Al...are you alright...? You're turning red..." Her brows knitted in concern.

"I'm fine, it's just embarrassing," he grabbed his scarf and hooded it over his eyes and resumed cleaning his plate. Why did he ever try to help anyway?

Molly was just oh so confused, and it clearly showed on her face. She shuffled to dump the cut up potato into the pot, but then turned to look at Al, picking up another potato to cut. "...W-why is it embarrassing?" That she couldn't comprehend. Wasn't cooking a great thing to do?

"It's not something most grown men do where I come from," that was the most polite way to put it that he could muster. He frowned as fork hit plate with a soft clack. All gone. It was just so good.
He propped his chin up on a hand as he decided to watch her work instead.
"Why wouldn't it be embarrassing?"

"Oh...how come?" Molly asked once more, cutting up the new potato. Molly, so confused as to why cooking was bad. "I...don't know...I didn't think cooking was embarrassing, whether it was a girl or a boy doing it..." She then beamed as Al finished his plate, and moved over towards him to take it. "I hope it was good!" She then moved and deposited the dishes into the sink, and resumed cutting the potato.

"It was extremely good," he admitted openly. "As to the cooking however... different worlds I guess. There were certain expectations," he frowned at her. "It still feels wrong breaking them."

"Oh, good! I'm really glad!" Molly was really relieved about that at least, and ended up slowing her pace again as Al talked a teeny bit about what he was uncomfortable with it. The trainee hummed a bit. She really couldn't wrap her mind around cooking being bad for...boys? "...Expectations from home?" Molly asked, blinking. "...I....guess I don't really think about stuff from home anymore...because this is my home now...and everyone cooks!" She smiled a bit sheepishly. "I'm sorry...it's not as easy for others, huh?"

"Maybe... some parts of home will follow us to the ends of the world, I think." He forced a small smile to the surface. No sense feeling bad about it. "I'll try though, will that make you feel better?"
Really the question should have been if that would make him feel better. But he didn't think like that as often as he probably should. What made others happy, generally made him happy as well.

Molly tilted her head and her eyes drifted up to the ceiling as she thought about that. "...I think you're right." She murmured after a while, and smiled a bit. "They do follow us. Some parts." She blinked though, as he said he'd try. "OH! Al, you don't have to do that to make me feel better! You should be the one feeling better!" She beamed at him. "I just think you have an amazing skill! I wish I could cut up vegetables as good as you do!"

"Well... if you promise not to tell other people. I uh. I can do way more than just chop vegetables.... but if you tell anyone, it's a blatant lie." He was oddly vague but it was easy to guess what he had been vaguely hinting at as there isn't much more in that train of profession before you are cooking.

Molly seemed to perk up incredibly as Al said that. When people said things like that, it meant they were about to show her something. Molly's lip curled up into a "C" shape and she lifted a hand and extended her pinky finger. She then waved it. "I promise!" She declared. She pink promised. That was going to her grave.
