"Ah!" Doucette's lips popped open with a small noise of surprise at Tatiana's sudden departure, her eyes going wide at the girl's reaction. Looking between Ren and Cam, Doe again put down the knife and pushed herself to her feet. "No, you know Harrison. Scooted out right when the girls came in." The smile showed it wasn't a bother before her gaze settled on her frei, tone hardening just the slightest in its cheerfulness, "Ren, why don't you tell Cam what happened while I go get Tatiana?"

It wasn't a suggestion.

Revontulet's lips pursed to one side as Doucette maneuvered her way up the stairs and to the only room with the door closed, knocking twice before pushing in. "Tatiana?"

"I don't want to move." Ren told Cam rather matter-of-factly once Doe was gone. "No one told me anyone was moving."

Ren's shoulders lofted into a little shrug at the words. All of this seemed very blown out of proportion for her simply expressing her displeasure at being left out of the conversation.

Meanwhile, Doucette waited in the doorway for Tati to acknowledge her. "I know why Ren was upset, but why are you upset now? I thought you were ok with moving?"

Camille nodded at that. Harrison was a good man but he also hated personal life conflict. This wasn't something he could authoritatively slam down in a counseling statement. He had to be delicate with family. They weren't soldiers. He let out a slow and long breath through his lips and shook his head with a tiny eye roll, "yeaaahp, he does tha' now don' he..."

Slowly the medic moved towards the counter, taking a seat on one of the bistro chairs and leaned his elbows on the granite. He considered Revontulet, her explanation and settled his chin on the heel of his palm.

"Well, Revon? s**t sucks," He shrugged, "But unfortunately you don't get a say in the matter. No one told me I was going to get blown up and lose a leg. Life is full of little bomb shells and you can throw a princess huff fit or you can lift your chin up and take it stoically."

"That's not to say Tatiana isn't being a little p***k either, she's still very young and will get the same lecture. Don't worry..." He softened his voice and gave a small smile, "It sucks. An' h'm sorry. An' h'm here for you to soften th' blow but this is just a blip. A tiny teeny inconvenience that's gonna lead to a much better lifestyle for you. So cut the crap, take it like a bandaid and rip it off in one go and use this moment as a guilt trip on Trox and Doe for outings and get spoiled. Ok?"

Meanwhile Tatiana moved over to the door, opening it for Doucette and giving her a very terse expression before moving back over to the bed. She sat there with her arms crossed, wings lofted and fluffed in discomfort before rolling her eyes in the way Harrison despised.

"She doesn't care that he's leaving, she's using it as an excuse for her emotions and it's confusing so I left," Tatiana explained and curled her arms over her chest and glanced out the window, "She's contradictory. Is she always like that?"

At the lecture, Revontulet's gaze narrowed ever so slightly. It was hard to tell with the slant of her eyes if she was simply regarding Cam with the wariness that a young one feels when being told "life lessons" or if she was struggling to hide her irritation.

Yes, s**t sucked, as he said, but it wasn't very fair of him using the leg excuse. Surely he had known the risks when he went into the military? Although, realistically, she knew he wasn't supposed to be in a position that would put him at risk, her idea of any combat area was that personal injury was a possibility. Wanting to be told they were moving, instead of being kept in the dark like an unwanted outsider, was considerably different than voluntarily putting oneself in physical danger.

Her request was nothing more than simple politeness, in her mind. Doucette leaving her out of that politeness hurt more than she was actually able to show, despite the small tantrum.

"I am not interested in guilt trips," she said, lifting her chin as he had so eloquently told her.

Ren took another moment to consider Cam once more before softening, her wings limp on her back. "I thought perhaps...if they didn't tell me it was because they didn't want me. I don't spend a lot of time at home. Maybe Doucette took it as a sign I didn't want to be there, so she decided to move away?"

The aurora clearly did not enjoy the open confession. Her expression wrinkled with distaste before she picked herself up and moved away from the counter. "I am going to help Troxel with the food."

And with that she slipped out the screen door without another look back before the medic could try and stop her.

Douette watched Tatiana for a long moment and let the girl get her huffs and feelings out. Moving over next to her, Doe grabbed a chair and scooted it next to the bed for her to sit down in.

"Ren...she doesn't mean to be contradictory, darling." Doe frowned, trying to find the right words to string together for the other's sake. It had taken her so long to get used to the frei's reactions, but still the guardian could not easily put into words the inner workings of the aurora.

"You're half right. Revon cares most about Revon. When something happens, she focuses on herself first and then the people around her as needed." Doe pushed her fingers into some of her curls, but quickly gave up attempting to push them back. "When she found out she was the last one to know about the move, I think she was hurt to be left out. And that's my fault. I knew she wouldn't be happy about moving and I wanted to wait as long as possible to tell her. But I don't think that means she isn't also hurt that Cam isn't moving in with us."

Doucette bit her lip, unsure how or if she should continue. "Ren doesn't deal with emotions like you and I do. Usually, she doesn't deal with them at all. She doesn't know how to be upset and it comes across as contradictory.

"I don't deal with emotions. They're useless unless they're positive. I'm in trouble aren't I? For storming off? Harrison never lets me storm off... I just didn't want to say anything that would make the situation worse," She furrowed her brows tightly, violet eyes shifting towards the door then back at the red headed woman, "This was supposed to be a happy dinner night now Harrison is upset with Cam and everyone is upset with Harrison and why? Why is it this charged? It's unneeded..."

She groaned and flopped sideways on the bed, fingers pulling at her hair and she considered the flecks of iridescence in it, "I kind of want to... go swimming or something. This all leaves a bad taste and is awkward right now. What should I do next?"

Camille's stance was just as confused, he stood bewildered watching the aurora and bit his tongue as his brow fell, creasing and squinting. He dropped his hands and gave Ren a very dead look.

"Y'aint interested in guilt trips an' I ain't interested in Drama. Let's call it a day then--" He paused, face once again softening for the aurora a second time, "Awe, s**t Ren. That isn't how it is, I never thought y'd take this all that way--"

He let himself be cut off and waved the raevan out, scrubbing his hair and flopping over the countertop. The medic sighed, glancing over at the fridge and shook his head before moving to the fridge and grabbing a near-beer with a look of disgust.

--

"Heey there..." Harrison started, wide eyes tracking Ren as she moved onto the porch. His face flushed and he drew his shoulders up. The pilot was easily on guard again, especially cautious of the fire Revontulet had entered the room with earlier. The ground was lain with eggshells and he knew he was at the root of it. He opened his mouth to speak a few times. Anything to break the ice that was slowly building up in this proverbial battlefield. But he couldn't. Instead he let Ren choose the path of this encounter- be it begrudging silence or more words. He was hoping for the former...

Doucette let out a laugh. How nice it would be to be young again and be able to just ignore any emotions you didn't like.

"You're not in trouble, Tatiana, Doe said as she stretched her legs and wiggled her feet to stretch out her sore ankles. "Leaving isn't the best method of conflict resolution, but if it keeps things from getting worse, then it's not the worst either. I think you did the best you could do. Ren didn't mean to upset anyone, and I hope you wont think badly of her. She likes things just so, and when they aren't she gets off balance. I'm sure you can relate...?"

The question was cautious. She didn't want to call into light any discomfort Tatiana felt about her physical imbalances, but she also didn't want anyone unhappy with Revontulet, for what she felt was her own doing.

"I'm not upset with you, or Ren. I'm 100% sure Ren isn't upset with anyone either, especially not you. Knowing Ren, she'll have readjusted and gotten herself in check and happy again. But I can't tell you what to do next. I'm going to go downstairs and see what happened with Cam and Ren. Since there's been no blood curdling screams, I'm assuming Revon hasn't gone femme fatale on anyone." Doucette smiled and threw Tati a little wink in jest as she pushed herself up out of her chair.

A moment was given to see if the girl wanted to come downstairs with her, or contemplate things a bit longer, before the redhead returned to the kitchen and a solo Cam.

"You survived!"

Teasing, of course!

~~

Ren moved over next to the pilot at the grill, watching with fascination as the coals faded and glowed with a deceptive warmth. "Hi," she replied to him, imagining that if she had legs to wear jeans with she'd have stuffed both hands into the back pockets of them.

Troxel's silence was appreciated. She didn't want to be interrogated or lectured. The aurora just wanted the whole stupid thing to be dropped and to watch the food cook.

"You say that but Cam is always telling me off for misbehaving. Thank heavens your here now because between Cam and Harrison I'm very much done with the militant parental types," Her wings slouched and she smiled sheepishly, nodding to Doucette's explanation because it really did all make sense. Revontulet was a different frei, brought up differently, from different essence and soul... Of course she'd act differently.

The hamsa perked right back up, wings folding against her back and she floated a bit straighter in posture. She was demure in style and posture, "Thank you Doe. I'm sorry if I caused a scene..."

She then looked to the boxes of Cam's room. He didn't have much to pack in general but he was definitely taking his time in doing so. Her plum colored eyes flicked from belongings to the wall, wardrobe then back to Doe. What she said hit her a bit with a shock. Screaming? Femme Fatale? Like a black widow and a handgun.

"What?" She squawked quietly as Doucette hobbled out of the room. Her comment to Cam made the young frei jump up and fly to the door way.

"Yeah, shockin' ain'it?" Camille returned, catching Tatiana's eye and giving her a wink before looking back at Doucette, "Also, lissen... Y'probably already know bu' Ren mentioned somethin' bou' bein' treated like she were temporary or somethin'..."

His tone was hushed so Tatiana would strain to hear. Even still she could barely make out the noises in Cam's surprisingly low rumbles. For such a small man his voice was quite deep. She pouted again and moved out to follow Doe, catching up and resting a palm on her arm.

"Y'all head down, I'm gonna pack a bit before joinin'" Cam explained, pushing past again.

--

Troxel did indeed remain silent, content as the knots holding the tension in the air loosened. He grinned over at the Aurora and relaxed his shoulders.

The beats of silence passed by, fireflies blinking in the tall grass added no sound to the comforting din of crickets and frogs. Eventually though he hazarded an olive branch.

"Hey, didju know...that even the eggs of fireflies glow?" He slid out, beginning to pull a few steaks off the grill. Some individuals, namely Cam, enjoyed the meat a bit rarer than most.

Doucette smiled, "I wouldn't consider that misbehaving myself, but everyone's got a different definition. Just don't worry about it too much."

At the startled noise from Tatiana as they reached the bottom of the stairs, Doe instantly regretted her joke. She had forgotten that Ren often took jokes rather literally as well, and frowned at Cam for a moment in apology.

"Just a joke Tatiana, no worries! I've never seen Revontulet hurt a fly." The redhead patted the hand that rested against her arm once it landed there.

Camille's confession did not come as an overwhelming surprise, as the frei's reaction had been more left-field than the woman had anticipated. Knowing the girl as she did, and the lack of items she kept personal to herself, Doe had come to the assumption that the outburst had been more emotionally driven than possession driven. She had not wanted to call that to light in front of others though, if Ren wasn't going to bring it up herself.

"Thank you for speaking with her Camille. I'll talk with her when we get home."

~~

"They do?"

Ren's eyes widened at the information, as her attention had already started to divert between the dotting of the glowbugs in the tall grass and the orange red of the coals in the grill.

For a moment, the aurora was taken back to the first time she'd seen fireflies with Cruz, and she smiled. It was short-lived however, as she also remembered the time she'd attempted to feed off of them.

"Where can you find their eggs?" Ren's wings lifted on her back as if she were ready to fly away at once and see the glowing eggs in person.

Harrison laughed as he flipped the steaks one last time for good measure, pulling off corn- still in their husks- before turning to Revontulet. He had a soft grin on his face as he nodded to a serving plate.

"I don't think it's the right season for that, Ren. And they're so tiny I doubt you'd find any," He pointed to the serving plate now, biting his bottom lip, "could you hand that to me?"

He took a deep breath, taking the offered plate and began loading it, cautiously sneaking a glance at the aurora, "Hey, I'm sorry for the difficulty. Everyone is moving together to a big house, you'll still have your own space and it's logical. You'll be closer to opportunities, Doucette will be closer to medical professionals and Tatiana's been complaining about how long it takes for us to drive anywhere. It'll be rocky but it'll even out. Dolce and Gabanna will fit right in to the... pack we're developing..."

He actually hadn't brought up any concrete plans with Doucette about the move, definitely something they should tackle tonight if the tensions settled. Or maybe not. Harrison was piss poor at pacing himself with conversations and tended to drive on in a bull headed manner. He'd let Cam take charge of reading the room.

"But did Doc talk to you about a shopping trip with Tatiana?" He winced, he doubted Cam's suggestion of a girls day out would ease the transition any. Even Tatiana had regarded him warily after he announced the idea. Little ladies were hard to deal with- or maybe he was old fashioned.

--

Tatiana forced out a laugh, hovering near Doucette. She flushed at herself for not picking up on the light mood.
