According to the official site,
L's real name is supposedly
Ryuuzaki Kazuma.
But I doubt this to be true.

AkuGensho Sometimes i wonder if L even really had a real name (like, if the author ever though of a name for him.)
At this point, I think any name that the author could possibly make for L wouldn't be good enough for the fans.
@Chrono: If it is true, then Kazuma is such a common name... D:
Uhm, and on topic: I thought Nate was a good name for Near. whee
Is "River" a real name?

I dunno. Is Light? Or Keehl? Or Loud? Whether the names are real or not, I guess it kinda goes along with the series' suspension of disbelief.

I agree with the other um..3 or so people
I liked the name Nate for Near
River was kinda weird though
it reminded me of hte movie Final Destination rofl
I swear they said what L's real name was in the manga
when Light killed him, didn't it show it through Misa's eyes??

ChiFay It's alright, just when I read "Nate River", I thought of D.Gray-man. I just hope Near impresses me, rather than surprising me by saying "Dicksucker". @_____@;;;;;;;;;;
