Huh. So she was connected to past-Babylon through some kind of teacher-student relationship. That was interesting and kind of cool. Not cool enough that she wasn’t going to leer at Finn whenever she saw him for the next month and a half. She dropped her feet, and crossed one leg over the other. “I guess I can see that,” she said. “I’ve burned down some s**t that probably shouldn’t have been burned down.” Like, uh… buildings. And people.
“I don’t understand how we’re the same person,” she said, a little guiltily. She’d always had the internet, and the people she met there, to teach her to ask questions and to dream bigger. If Caramia had only ever had Gideon and those guards outside the door… Maybe she was being a little hard on her past self. But not on her past society. “I understand reincarnation. I know I wouldn’t stand for someone locking me up in a tower; I’d burn the ******** thing down.” It wasn’t an overstatement. She’d sacrificed her phone to set some Negaversers on fire. Burning her world down was still on her to-do list.
She shrugged. “So, any pro tips on fighting the Negaverse? Because I’ve tried killing them, and they just seem to replace themselves.”

Menachem nodded. He’d never expected anything else from Sailor Gunn than mass destruction, not with her powers being what they were. It was a boon that she was on their side and not aligned with Chaos. “It is a bit complicated,” he said. “A matter of who you are instinctually versus who you are as a matter of circumstance. The starseed inside your chest is the same that rested inside Caramia’s, but your experiences are your own, just as hers were hers alone.”
“You are not bound by your past,” he said, “But you are still connected to it. You are you, first and foremost, and your past incarnation’s life is no indication of your power nor your potential.”
He sighed. He wished that he had some advice for her, but as she already knew, he had lost his war. “I’m afraid I never discovered any surefire way to destroy them,” he said. “I believe that the best way to defeat them is to turn their numbers against them. Purification not only reduces their power but fills Order’s ranks. Beyond that…”
He shrugged his borrowed shoulders. “Do not lose hope. Losing hope is how Chaos spreads.”

“I’m an ace at not losing hope,” she said smugly. She’d come back from a very good friend, a leader, turning to Chaos. She could sure as s**t handle anything else thrown her way. “But I’m not sure purification really works. It worked for Oenone. He was already terrified of the Negaverse, though. Killing them is surefire. It saves civilian lives.”
She considered this a little deeper, and then shrugged. “It was worth a try. Intel’s just as important as firepower, as they say.” There was a winning smile there, but she was a little concerned. If in the past, with so many soldiers, so spread out, with the home field advantage, they had been overwhelmed… what chance did the knights and senshi of the modern day have? She sighed, and shrugged again. “Thanks for the advice,” she said. “Then and now, I guess.”

“Killing them works, too,” nodded Menachem, smiling. Gunn was a warrior through and through - perhaps if she’d been allowed to fight… no, it was fruitless to dwell on the past like that. “But purification, where practical, is certainly the option I would most endorse.”
“You’re most welcome,” he said, dipping his head towards her. “I wish you the best of luck.” He was glad the conversation was over, because he could feel his hold slipping-
The world slid sideways.
Finn blinked at Kaatje, and then down at himself. He was stark naked, and scrambled to reposition the towel around his hips. “Did you have a nice chat?” he asked, flustered. “Yes? Okay. Good. Can you please get out so I can get dressed?”

Kaatje bounced up by request. “Tell your ancestor thanks for the advice,” she said, flipping her orange curls over one shoulder. “And I’m going to see if I can’t get a cat to keep an eye on you. Call out from work or I’ll ******** punch you in the nuts, a*****e.”
Then, as per request, she ollied back to her own apartment.
