Maebe did look mildly offended, but it only lasted a moment. A sense of dawning came over her, and her lips parted as she took in an acknowledging breath. He confirmed it, and her twisted, quirked half-smile pursed her lips. As Ever moved to leave, Maebe very skillfully put herself between him and the door. "Ah, but that's insulting my craft. You just said I'm lacking a chromosome, so why does it matter? You should let me do what I do best. After all, I did say I know how to get someone laid. That doesn't just apply to a pretty face." Her smile lengthened, and turned into something much more predatory professional.

"...that's good, because I don't have one." It was carefully self-deprecating, blinking down at her, phone in hand now and slowly -- just slowly -- sliding toward something uncomfortable. Obviously, Ever had stepped in it good, and he tried to come up with something to say that would get him out of it again. "Besides, aren't you, er." He waved, vaguely. Judging from twitter, anyway, it seemed like she was busy enough without messing with him. He paused again. Considered. "You have better things to do with your time, I'm sure."

"You are assuming that there is something in this world better to do than take pictures of dicks." Yes. He'd stepped in it good.

For a moment, Ever just stared at her -- like he couldn't believe she'd said that. Then, slowly, he tucked his phone into his pocket and reached out to catch her around the waist and guide her, gently but firmly, out of the way of the door. She'd have to fight if she wanted to stay.

Maebe did not fight for anything as trivial as this. She did, however, fully enjoy being picked up and moved out of the way of the door. She liked being man-handled in any situation, and this was no different. When he let her go, she wiggled in delight, and waved her fingers at him pleasantly. "Well, if you ever change your mind, I'm here for you. I hope you get everything you're looking for. In fact, if you do, you should come tell me all about it. I love stories!" She did not move for the door, she knew he was going to get out of there on his own - and she gave one last, regretful sigh while looking pointedly at his crotch. "Oh well. Can't win 'em all, Maebe."

At least, in the doorway, with the door open and Maebe out of the way, Ever was able to grin again: a grin that was half relief and half genuine amusement and her rejected tone. He shrugged, adjusted the hem of his shirt, considering her. "Buy me a drink next time." He shook his head a bit, watching her for just another moment before he took off. Already regretting having given her ideas.

Maebe watched him leave, and took out her phone, typing out a little note to herself. Quote: Memo: Buy Ever a bottle of liquor, and leave it on his doorstep with a USB drive.
