Firstly, Otto was disappointed in himself for knowing what a Horcrux was, having read Harry Potter. He'd gotten the whole series not once, not twice, but three times as gifts. He'd read them all. Secondly, the more the back and forth went on, the more he began to sweat. He was a blonde someone. He'd touched a thing. Otto looked guilty."Uh.... m-maybe?" He murmured, wide eyed and nervous. His Majesty would kill him dead. Certainly. Otto had touched a great deal of things he ought not to lately. Two came to mind. The Key. And the Marble. But the marble went away, and he found an awesome pair of sunglasses in their place. Said shades were perched on top of his head at present. So then, what was it? "Can you be like... more specific?"

Shiloh mouthed 'I'm sorry' to Quinn, but it was probably safer for now, Shiloh thought, to stay that way at least for now. He could 'break up' with him once they were out of Caelius' office. He was relieved though, when he was passed for suspicion, not being able to think of anything he could have possibly touched lately that could be considered a hot tux or similar. The basis was, of course, anytime someone did seem to touch one of the things, the end result was usually painful, if not during the event then immediately after, incurring the wrath of one death lead. Shiloh was pretty sure he would have remembered if something like that had happened recently. He looked up in surprise at Otto's answer, having thought, well of any of them, that he too would know not to touch things anymore... Shiloh was a bit concerned, but then there was also the fact that he was curious, which often trumped concern and got him into trouble in the end anyway, without touching anything at all. "Are you sure they touched it?" He asked, unable to help himself. Mark was way less scary than his highness.

A hand came down on Oz's head, karate-chop style.
"Stop harassing people in public," said Gale, and then gave Quinn a smile that clearly said "Quinn, control your man friend."
Mark was looking suspiciously at the pair of them, and Gale raised his eyebrows in mild exasperation. "I'm not really blonde anymore, if that helps at all," he said, with a roll of his eyes. "That being said, there are about a million blondes here, so unless you've got something more specific..."
There was a long pause in which Gale's eyes slid slowly towards Otto.
"Why are you asking us all of this anyway?" he said to Mark, and then added, "And besides, Shiloh's got a point - you didn't really actually see anything did you?"

Lucky felt someone grab ahold of his coat and sharply reel him in. He turned around to find himself face to face with -- someone he had never met before in his life. Apparently the life hunter's preceded him by a wide radius. He blinked at the confusing dissonance between their dismissive tone and uncomfortably interested look. "Sorry...?"
"Shiloh." His shoulders dropped in a resigned fashion as he was quickly grabbed from the other side as well by Sunshine-and-Rainbows Parish. With the death grip both of them had on him he felt like a prisoner being walked to an execution. Probably not far from the truth. What other reason would anyone ever have to come to this office?
He only had a second to give Quinn a glance of solidarity (that could probably easily be mistaken for quiet defeat) before they were all herded through the door, some more roughly than others.
It was a relief to see that Caelius hadn't actually looked up and noticed them at any point. Lucky allowed himself to take a half step back, as if that was supposed to hide him from view behind when nearly everyone else was exactly the same height. At the strange explanation, Lucky leaned over to the one guy who still had a fairly decent grip on his coat, and who was conveniently at the perfect height to whisper to. Shiloh was a death hunter now; it was his job to know what the hell death hunters were supposed to be doing. "Vhat is he talking about?"
His hands twisted behind his back as he reflected on the location of a certain organic bomb that he was sure had not been defused yet. He chose not to volunteer that information freely, though. Gale and Otto had this under control, definitely. Probably. Enough that he could just stand there on edge and not also under scrutiny at the same time.
Quinn did receive an additional look shortly after that was far more clear in expressing I'm so sorry as Oz inspected the trainee like a showdog.

"Well," Mark responded to Gale, "we didn't actually see anyone, in theory, but we know it had to be one of you guys, because the camera-"
-"Did you take anything from the Ancient of Death." Oz bluntly asked, looking pointedly at Otto. He didn't actually know Otto had, but Otto's body language was more than clear that he was pointedly hiding something. "Because if you did, first of all, you are a bad boy and deserve to be punished, but second of all, we'll need you to donate preferably your head, arm, and one leg to sacrifice to the dark gods to get things back to normal."
"As normal as things could be," Mark muttered. "Okay, so like, action plan, part one. Step one-"
"Hello," interrupted Caelius. He beamed.
Silence.
"I thought you fixed the golem." Oz judged.
Mark look affronted. "I did. Someone must have tampered with it, its probably that weird fan club, you know, I swear I didn't-"
-"Forget about the golem, I'm tired of looking at Quinn's chiseled a** now. Just throw Otto into the sacrificial portal and call it a day, I'll try not to enjoy his agonized screaming."
Mark stared. He very, very quietly turned to the rest assembled. "All right, so mission plan. You guys are going to go into the portal, you're going to get whomever did the thing to take back what they said, and then you're going to hop out and hopefully all of this will be fixed, "he gestured at the perfectly normal room, "and just go for the sword okay, the sword, that's all we need, you can't miss it. Don't touch like, anything else." He looked nervous.
"Absolutely nothing else," Oz confirmed. He looked murderous.
About five seconds later, Mark assembled a portal in the office, a makeshift out one of the runes he had gathered, and Caelius waved them goodbye.
It was absolutely dark on the other side.

"Um... yes. Yeah. I did." Otto admitted, not bothering to lie. He stared in horro when Caelius spoke. Even more when he smiled. And his face cringed when it was revealed it was a golem. Why would they even... "Get what back to normal? Everything is fine." Otto contested. If he took back what he did, his deal with Death might be forfeit. Which meant he might have to... die. "I ain't givin' you none of this, shadow boy." Otto growled at Oz, gesturing to his own body. No sacrificing limbs. None. Luckily for Otto, even if the other side of the portal was pitch black, he had a backup. The teen huffed, confidently slipping his night vision sunglasses onto his face. "Whatever. Sword. Got it." Otto walked through with attitude in full swing. Defensive much?

From the looks around the room it looked like he wasn't about to get help anytime soon with his...Oz problem. He really had no idea what to do about it right now, still unsure if any sort of negative reaction would end up in some sort of torture session. So what did Quinn do? Stay quiet and listen to the others talk. He pulled his coat tighter around his body, flicked the hood up, and followed them through the portal trying his best not to let them see his face aflame.

As Otto had his glasses on he could see her. Sam, still waiting next to the bed. She rested her chin on the empty bed, and turned her head towards him. A smile. "Did you come to give it back?"
Nobody else could hear them, or see them, except Otto. Nobody else knew what they were facing, except Otto.

Shiloh looked back and forth between Oz and Mark, and nearly jumped when Caelius appeared, looking pleasant, of all things. It was so strange, he nearly laughed, placing a hand quickly over his mouth. It was way weird, seeing Caelius' expression set to anything other than kill, and Shiloh was glad it was only a golem. He didn't have too long to think on it, as it were, as Otto promptly admitted the one thing Shiloh had learned not to do on the island. He slowly stared at the now Sun hunter, his mouth agape. Otto had even been there, with the key, and the not-smiling Death lead, he would have known, wouldn't he? Shiloh shook his head, he didn't understand, but Mark and Oz were ushering them through the portal, and into darkness. He reached down to clasp Haruko's charm tightly in his hand, he didn't like the dark.

Gale was still staring at the Not Caelius in horror as they stepped through the portal, flashbacks to a certain hug and the pure bizarreness of a smiling Caelius enough to give him PTSD.
In the dark there was a great deal of shuffling, a flash as he summoned his weapon, and then -
"Ow. Did someone step on my foot? The bloody hell are we?"

Frankly, he didnt realize the trouble with the smiling Caelius. Not dealing much with his highness personally left Quinn not as wary as he should have been probably. He did instantly feel better, even in darkness, being away from Oz. " Oops, Sorry Gale."

He was back. So this may have meant what he thought it did. Otto's temples began to bead sweat, his heart beat beginning to become panicked. "That's what I'm supposed to do, yeah." Otto murmured. "I don't get why though." If he gave a certain something back, the deal would be off. The deal would be off, and Otto might die. He didn't want to die, especially not for some vague reason such as 'get things back to normal', when they seemed normal enough as is. "What happens if I do?"

"Well," said Sam, a Sam only Otto could see, "that depends what you're willing to give up."
She disappeared and at the same time there was a loud crack.
The ground beneath them lit up in hundreds of red sigils extending outward. For a moment they formed eyes, bulging, staring all directions, mouths, and then clawed red hands that began to scream and echo-
- "Answer it"
-"Solve it"
-"IT IS A TEST"
- "Give us the answer and we will let you free"-
The ringing increased, loud, the words blurring until everything began to shake. Finally, slowly, each one closed and everything turned back to nothingness again.
From where they stood, a series of six numbers appeared from where Lucky and Quinn were standing.
Below it was a single line, also written in red.
"Things are not as they seem." OOC HERE IT GOES: - You MAY ask questions in BOLD RED by having your character search or attempt in different things ICly. For example "Bob touched the sigil numbered 5" or something. Each character can only ask ONE question Icly this way per prompt until the first one is solved. - Feel free to talk to each other as well. - The answer is also 6 numbers so feel free to look around. Once your character thinks they have the answer (and you can collaborate) post it in BOLD BLUE. If you do not get an IC response it means it is WRONG. - Good luck!

Quinn decisively chose that moment to latch onto the arm of the closest person to him once the light show started. Unfortunately for Lucky, he was that 'lucky' candidate. He found himself chewing his lip, listening and watching the light show worrying about the 'test' they were apparently to receive. Quinn was about to question such things, when rather melodramatically numbers appeared before the pair of them. "What is even... " THIS was the riddle? Frowning at it he had a hard time finding himself able to focus. It was the sheer creep factor of the darkened room, and the eery red glow the letters seemed to cast on everyone making him afraid. He did at least let go of luckys poor arm. As he stared more though, he realized something about the numbers. He always did enjoy a good challenge of his intellect, even if this room did scare him something silly. Taking a step or two around the numbers, he stood facing where he was once standing, looking at the group. "Some of these numbers can be flipped over to form new numbers." He pointed at the '666', which was now '999' from his point of view.

If Quinn looked closely, he could see that all the numbers could indeed be reversed.
But what did it mean?
