Ade watched Avant curiously, "but then I'd be free" she said quietly. She bent down and ate some grass, pondering the thought of being alone.

Avant tilted his head, watching her practically ignore him after her statement. "Free, yes, I suppose you would." He shrugged one wing. "But there are certain types of captivity that not even I mind." Avant was thinking about a certain someone, a certain sparrow. "Do you wish to be gone from my side? You seem... lost in thought."

She watched Avant as he prepared to hunt, Her friend could not hunt and had been reduced to eating grass. This made her cruel and quite angry at the world. She did not understand how someone could live so out of balance.
"Tell me about yourself Avant, Since I seem to misunderstand so much about you and your..... kind"... she bent down to eat more grass and carefully swallowed before adding "All I have to go on, is the Lore of my people... which you seem to want to correct so badly"

"Good, I would hate for you to leave my protection just because you wanted to eat some more grass." Avant was mildly distracted by the idea of hunting something down to eat, but he didn't think he would be able to catch anything with her nearby, so he set aside his hunger for the moment.
"I have no real desire to correct the Lore of your people, just your misunderstanding that we are all the same. I am not a pure, nor am I an elitist like some of the others your people may have met. Tell me what you wish to know about me and perhaps I will share the secrets of myself." He shrugged his wings and looked back at her. "Isn't it enough that I haven't harmed you in anyway, isn't that enough to prove your people are mistaken about somethings?"
She raised her head and looked him in the eye "we were told you shadow walkers like to ... you with your food... gain their trust before you break them... and then... sometimes eat them when you have no use... " she said each word carefully.
she pondered what to ask him... unsure if she really wanted answers to some of them. "have you taken many? companions? like me?" she instantly regretted her question and then realized that regret became apparent on her face. She tried to calm her features while she waited for the answer then she added a small afterthought... " If you did... what happened to them?"

Avant shrugged again. "Yes, we do like to play with our food, but personally, I don't like Soquili as prey. At least, not the kind I eat. I prefer rabbits and other things that eat grass to others of my kind. Not that I won't harm you, because I will, but unless you really are a threat to me, or I am very very bored, I probably won't kill you" He didn't see the point, really. Most of the others that he passed weren't a threat to him, and he couldn't see the point in even acknowledging that they were there, let alone kill them or harm them in some way.
“I’ve taken some. Not nearly as many as I thought I would as a foal, but the ones I have taken have been useful.” He raised an eyebrow. “What makes you think you are one of my companions? They tend to stay around of their own volition, not because they are afraid I will harm them, but because they want to stay by my side for however long I will have them.” He tiled his head, observing her. “You, however, just want some questions answered. About me and my kind. Or me, specifically. I wouldn’t call you a ‘companion’, not just yet.” Avant seemed amused by the last question. “Well, what do you think happened? They broke. Or they died.”
"I did not mean to imply I was a companion, merely if you had other soquili like me... " she looked confused as if she were trying to figure out how to word a question...
"You said you were only PART shadow walker? how did this come to be?"

"I have had other Soquili. Some like you, some different." Avant responded simply, before shrugging. He didn't keep track of past conquests, so to speak. They had been entertaining at the time, and were no longer a part of his life. He waited for her to come to terms with her own confusion, before tilting his head and laughing softly.
"My father, a pure Kalona, bred with someone who wasn't Kalona." He, again, offered simply. "I don't see understand why that surprises you." Only he could, he just wanted to mock her question. It was obvious how it came to be. At least, in those simple terms. The truth behind him, and his sisters, was a bit more complicated, but she didn't really need to know that, now did she?
She sat in silence for a bit, pondering how to continue... she wanted to learn more, but unsure how to ask with out being rude.
"perhaps, you can.... show me.... how you are different... Your company is not, unpleasing... " she stopped herself... shocked she just said such a thing, "I mean, you are NOT as cruel as my friend... "
she froze.... in a mix of fear and embarrassment, what was she saying!!

Avant raised a mocking brow. "Why should I show you how I am different? From the looks of things, you couldn't even tell I was only half shadow walker. Give me a reason." He purred, amused despite himself. "I'm glad you find my company... not unpleasing." Avant smirked, then twitched his wings in curiosity. Not a cruel as her friend? Well, there was a mystery there, somewhere. She couldn't help but wonder at that, wondering why she was suddenly afraid and embarrassed. The fear made him wonder more, of course, that was the interesting part, really.
"Now, what on earth would make you say something like that?"

She was still frozen, look of horror shone clearly on her face. "I..... I'm not sure" she said slowly and carefully.... " I am .... Foolish, I'm sorry." she waited hoping he did not take her wording as an invitation to be cruel. "my friend, she is ... not the same as you... but she is in a way. She cannot see, she has been blinded, and left to fend.... on her own? This makes her cruel, hateful... hurtful.... a DEMON!" she spat the last words out as if they were rotten fruit on her tongue. She did not like speaking of her friend that way, she knew her friend would probably not be so mean if she had not been so dependant on another Soquili, if she had not been blinded by a cruel kalona who claimed her and left her. But Adeyoha's entire knowledge of Kalona's came from her friends stories of hate, and hurt, and being told that is not the case from another, in direct conflict of the teaching of her father, and reaffirmed by her friend left her confused at best.
