Uquin wasn't normally one to laugh - but as Pahana teetered off balance, and in the face of this surprising revelation, he felt amused and giddy and let out a sort of drunken snicker, sliding his hands up from Pahana's wrists to her elbows so he could hold her upright and keep her from toppling over.
Flowers warriors? Hwuh? And how on earth was this woman related to Yaholo if he was an Alkidike? But Alkidike were all female anyway... he had no idea.
It was weird, but he didn't really want to get bogged down with the details of how they were related. The man had only been holding Pahana up for a moment before she knocked his arms away - and instead drew him into a hug, his hands raising to awkwardly pat her shoulders, blinking blearily in surprise at the hug.
"Mmm friend? Met him once - would like ta be his friend though. Would like ta be your friend too." Uquin muttered, his voice especially slurred. Instead of pulling from the hug, Uquin hugged Pahana close, happily, satisfied, under his breath.

Pahana continued on her giggling tirade and snuggled Uquin close. He was so warm and friendly, and her brother knew him... He had to be the best healer around! Yeah! Better than... Than... Rasputin? Rastafarian? What was she thinking about again? Healer, brother... Raspberry? No, no, no... Oh, who cares? Whatever she was trying to think about wasn't as important as Uquin was!
"Ooooh, yessss!" She chirped, leaning further onto his shoulder. "Orrrr, better! Better than that! We should beee... Better than friends!"

Normally, hugging was just STRANGE to Uquin, and he probably would have been awkwardly still, unwilling to shove the hug away, but too awkward to return it. But alcohol had easily solved the problem, because now he'd loosely looped both arms around Pahana's middle, half-sitting on the table that had been intended for placing ale cups while you danced around bonfires with one another.
Most of the people around them (which Uquin seemed to have forgotten existed) simply rolled their eyes at their drunkenness, but waved it off - it was a party, after all!
Pahana's cheerful chirping and giggles made Uquin smile, a small and somewhat goofy smile, but a smile nonetheless. "Better ?? ... Mmm best friends?" He suggested, letting his cheek tilt to settle against the top of Pahana's hair, lazily drawing circles with his fingers against her back. The only other thing he could think of, other than becoming good friends was very inappropriate, and he flushed and turned from Pahana, feeling around for another flagon, and pouting when he didn't find one. This was, after all, a table for disposed cups.

All the people around them didn't seem to care, espescially those who were handing out the drinks. A young man who had been watching the pair in amusement had set another pair of full glasses upon the table and wandered off to the side again to have a laugh with his friends, not that Pahana or Uquin would notice them there. Pahana giggled along, unaware to how close she was to Uquin, and crawled up onto the table, practically sitting on Uquin's lap.
"Mmmm, best friends..." She chuckled, giving Uquin a nuzzle. "Okaaay, but... Maybe more..." She had already forgotten what came after best friends on the relationship scale, but part of her really didn't care. The way they were sitting, the music, the festivities, the lights... Everything was just so... Wonderful. She looked to Uquin with a smile.
"Wanna dance with me?" She asked, arching an eyebrow.

If laughing at a pair of drunks was how people here had fun, Uquin couldn't fault it - especially when it meant receiving more free drinks. He hadn't noticed the cups being placed, but instead stumbled happily upon the magically appearing cups with almost childish glee that he certainly would never have expressed when sober - but now, as a drunken man, his eyes lit up and he seemed relieved as he lifted the new cup and took another drink from it.
It wasn't that his goofiness was randomly appearing - more that his iron-hold on his own behavior was normally fool-proof, and now that he was drunk he was letting it go for once. He had never realized just how much he choked back his emotions most of the time. After setting the only half-drunk mug down, Uq only then seemed to notice Pahana's sudden proximity - on his lap, actually, which she must have done while he was tossing back another beer. That or he'd blacked out for a second, he didn't know.
But... whereas normally he'd have been embarassed by her forwardness, and especially that nuzzle to his face, now Uquin just smiled, a bit dopily and shyly, but it was a smile nonetheless, and tilted his face just slightly to brush their cheeks together with the bumbling uncertainty of someone unused to such affection. And then just as it was getting comfortable and wonderful to the point he felt his chest might burst from all the fluttering in it, she asked him to dance - and he couldn't resist.
It was comfortable, sitting with her on his lap, their faces tilted close together, but the invitation was so sweet he felt denying her would be horribly cruel. "Mmm... alright. Just don't make fun of me for stepping on your feet." He answered, tilting his face just slightly, his lips pressing in a small kiss against her lower cheek.

Pahana let out a delighted squeal as Uquin accepted her offer to dance, and stumbled off of him quickly. Her footing was far from stable and she ended up teetering a few feet off to the side, before flopping back upon Uquin with a laugh. Okay, maybe dancing wasn't a good idea? She was normally so good at it, though! Oh, well, she felt better snuggling up against Uquin, anyway.
"Maybe we can do... Something else." She muttered, kissing him on the cheek. "...I really like your hair... You're handsome."

Earlier this evening Uquin had questioned Pahana's judgement in inviting him to watch her dance when, clearly, she was drunk - even at that point. Now they were even more so, yet he seemed to have forgotten his earlier quarrel with the idea. As she slipped off his lap (and he found himself missing the comfortably warmth against his chest, despite himself), Uquin pushed himself from the table to follow, but then Pahana stumbled against him, which caused him to bump back against the table, which lurched.
The ensuing vertigo made his stomach lurch, but once he realized the table hadn't tipped over and was, instead, holding firm, he burst into laughter, his arm slipping around Pahana's middle and dragging her close against him again, his heart skittering at the simple scare, but also secretly elated that they could continue to sit together instead of pulling away from her comfortable warmth. It was clear that he was quite happy at this - especially when she leaned in close and kissed his cheek, her lips soft and cool against his drunk-flushed cheeks. He tilted his face towards her without realizing, and bumped their temples together with a soft chuckle, then a surprised flush at the unexpected compliment. "I'd rather talk about you." He responded, quickly, not sure what to make of how giddy that compliment had made him.
Before he realized what he was doing, Uq's hand rose up, trailing his fingers lightly over the back of Pahana's shoulder and neck - but finally settled at one bun at the back of her head, tied up as it was to keep her hair unmussed and comfortable. Though drunk, Uquin's fingers were careful and coaxing as he tried to figure out how she'd tied it back, and once he realized how to undo it he did so - carding his fingers through her long soft hair, smoothing it out so it half-fell down her back. His hand was far from shy, half burying his digits in the soft locks, seeming to revel in touching it more than any one should enjoy petting a stranger's hair. Had he been sober he would have been scandalized by his forwardness, but now he simply leaned back and smiled, tilting his head at her. "If you're judging appearances just based on hair, then you're beautiful." He teased, drunkenly convinced it was the best thing to say. But after a moment his eyes widened and he leaned back a bit, mortified. "But - you are beautiful. Not because of your hair but-" Ahhh nonono. Uquin was an idiot, smashed though he was he was convinced of it.

Pahana didn't realize that Uquin had moved and the resulting bump back against the table, followed by Uquin's laughter, made her burst into a fit of giggles herself. They almost fell over and broke all the glasses! That would've been a fiasco! She readjusted herself against Uquin again and smiled. This was really fun...
As he pulled her hair out of one of the buns she had made earlier in the day, as per ritual, and ran his fingers through, she felt an odd sensation flow through her. She really like how he was holding her... And how he was stroking her hair... And how he was complimenting her... She blushed, smirked, and planted a kiss on his lips.
"You're too cute, Uquin." She said, giggling. "Thank you... You're beautiful, too."

While falling over was normally rather serious, in his drunk state it was the funniest thing that could happen, and his lack of grace left him in a fit of childish chuckles and even giggles. And Pahana's laughter only urged him further on. But once he settled into uncoiling her done up hair, he calmed and instead watched as his fingers sifted through the soft strands, the digits pausing once he embarrassed himself with his uncertain words. It wasn't until Pahana smirked at him that he sagged in relief.
And even if it was a small, brief kiss before she spoke - she had kissed him. A confident press of their lips together in what could most accurately be called a 'smooch', then another compliment - this time calling him beautiful. And he could only blink, startled by the kiss, but then he laughed softly and slid his hands up to undo her other bun. Once that hair, too, was coaxed free Uquin let Pahana settle on his lap and, instead, loosely fisted his hands in her hair, loving the thickness of it, despite the utter softness.
It was with this handhold in her hair that he pulled Pahana close and kissed her - with the confidence only a drunk person could muster, closing his eyes and brushing his fingers against her scalp and the soft skin at the back of her neck.

Pahana's body was like a feather as it was tugged forward and grasped, but like a bag of sand in terms of how it thumped upon Uquin's chest. The kiss was more than welcomed by Pahana's lips, and thus, her mind and body as well. All inhibition seemed lost as she relished the kiss and the stroking upon her neck, until she suddenly recognized how many people were around. Oh... This was too public... They needed to go somewhere... Private.
"Uquiiin, can we continue this at your house?" She asked, her voice both cute and, oddly, seductive. "There are too many people..."

Had he expected things to go this way? Maybe not - and though not a naive man, in this regard, he wasn't really sure just what Pahana's intentions were. After all their kiss though, and briefly losing himself in her lips - until she pulled away, seeming almost shy about those possibly watching. And how could he begrudge her that?
So he nodded, leaning in to kiss her again, but lightly this time, then pulled away from the table, holding her against him until they both got used to the sudden shift in their positions, world spinning thanks to the alcohol they'd consumed. Maybe, just for once, Uquin could throw himself into the moment and enjoy just being close to someone? Just this once?

Sure, the world was spinning, but as long as Uquin was there, Pahana's focus was clear. She wanted to continue this closeness, these kisses... She wanted to feel so much more. Drunk and stumbling, fumbling and leaning, nothing could make her change her mind. Not even the smash of her brother's hammer could snap her out of this blissful whirlwind of a meeting.
"Which way is your place...?" She asked, flailing her hand outwards. "Are you... Up hiiiigh?"

Maybe with one less mug of alcohol Uquin would have decided enough was enough - taken her home, and put her to bed. But as it was he was more than happy to be caught up in the sudden zap of heat between them. Whether it was just alcohol or if it would have happened regardless, he didn't know - but he knew he felt it, and that was more than he'd felt - ever, actually!
For now he didn't see any potential issue with this plan, so he looped his arm loosely around Pahana's middle and pointed up one ladder to the rickety home he'd been given when he came to Yera as a prentice. It was clean, inside, if a bit dilapidated - hopefully that would change now that he had an income. If the pair hadn't been climbing these ladders, and trees, since they were younglings, surely they would have had much more trouble - but somehow they ascended up into the trees without incident, even if, at the top, Uquin was eager to yank Pahana to his side again, having had to pull away for them to climb, sending them stumbling to fall against the side of the great tree, laughing, his head tilted so their foreheads bumped together with a happy, buzzed smile.
"You know - at this point I'm half convinced yer-- ahem YOU'RE ... some pretty dream I've made up, and maybe I'm really sleeping back on that table."Pidgeons Go Meow X3 Jeez Uq I'd say your pick up lines are terrible but he's 100% serious. Also, going back and rereading, it's embarassing and hilarious just how FAST they get drunk. XD HOly crap.
