Shaina turned around and saw a male dark elf who's drinking whiskey. She flinched.
"There's a dark elf here, girls. We might want to be careful...."

The Dark Elf's ears twitched. He was used to things like this. Especially lately; One Dark Elf goes psycho and wants to destroy all of existence and suddenly the entire race was something to be feared. Unfortunately this Dark Elf was "something to fear"; He was wanted in at least five countries for robbery, aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon, grand larceny, possession with the intent to sell, and arson- but that was an accident. He was drunk that day. Sure, his image and what he has done doesn't help the general image of his people, but even he knew it wasn't nice to stereotype. The Dark Elf thought of hopping off the bar stool and scare the hell out of the girl, but that wouldn't have helped- Her first impression of him wasn't good. Did he really want to make it worse? Instead of doing what he originally intended to do, he simply said, "I can hear you, you know." shortly after speaking, he took a sip of his straight Whiskey.

Shaina was shocked at the elf's reaction. She knew that only vampires had enhanced senses. She did not thought that this applies to elves as well.
"Really? I thought only vampires can do that?" She said while remaining on her seat.

The Dark Elf raised his right brow as if to say 'Really?'. He turned to face in the girl's direction and he said, while pulling back some of his hair to reveal a pointed ear baring quite a few piercings; A zero gauge plug on the lobe with a sixteen gauge loop ring sitting behind the plug with two more sixteen gauge rings on the cartilage, "You think these don't serve a purpose?" He let his hair fall back into place. If she didn't know just how well a Dark Elf's hearing was, it made him wonder just how many she had ever come across, and if she ever spoke of them this way. From his back pocket he took out a small case, he opened it to reveal six clove cigarettes, as he took one out he looked at the women and asked, "Mind if I smoke here?- I only ask because I didn't see a 'No smoking' sign anywhere."

Aylin looked at Shaina with a slight puzzled look on her face. Surely she had noticed the recent copper red moon from the full eclipse that lasted for more than just a single night. There was something not right about that. However, if the younger woman had not noticed it then maybe it was not worth getting her worried about. It appeared Shaina had moved on from the subject of the current bright half moon to engage in a conversation with the gray skinned elf she seemed more concerned about.
"Oh, I thought you were talking about the recent lunar eclipse is all," Aylin commented matter of factly as if it were nothing to concern one's self with.
It was then Aylin smelled the distinct smell of tobacco. Even though it wasn't lit she still knew the distinct smell of a tobacco product about to be used. Aylin wasn't about to deny someone the enjoyment of their tobacco as she herself had engaged in a few victory pixie cigars with the males in her unit during her time in the military. However, pixie tobacco was far sweeter and more herb and floral based smelling a lot nicer on clothing and hair than human tobacco.
"If you're going to smoke just be sure to not blow it in my general direction please," Aylin said not even looking at the darker skinned elf as she drank more ale.

*Hydro couldn't hide a sigh. Sure the newcomer did appear to be a dark elf and dressed in a plethora of leather and chained garments, but surely if he wanted to cause trouble he wouldn't have calmly sat down. More likely the person wanted a drink, and Hydro saw the man fix himself a whiskey and pull out a cigarette. Personally, Hydro hated the things, but simply nodded to Alyin's comment about the smoke. She did give the newcomer a smile, and then turned back to the girls. No need to be rude.
She was seeing it more and more, though, people were quite tense. Tense situations produced a fair bit of paranoia and eventually prejudice, that she could be certain about.
She hadn't roamed the streets of Akeka lately, but Barton, Durem, and the Isle were on edge. There had been a bombing in Durem, and whispers about vampires and dark looks on the faces of people...*

The Dark Elf gave the Pixie a nod then took a clove cigarette from the silver case. Afterwards, he pulled out a zippo lighter and when he opened the cap it ignited an obscenely large flame. He used that to light up his clove, once it was lit up he used his other hand to close it and took a long drag and then -politely- blew the smoke in the opposite direction of the girls. The Dark Elf hated how quiet the room got. It was bad enough that this happened in Durem, but up here? He would be treated better over in Dref Dur. Even if the place was unfriendly. He took a drink of his Whiskey, and now sick of the silence The Dark Elf said, only half jokingly, "So, is it always this quiet in here, or are you guys only this quiet when you encounter someone 'dressed funny'?" He knew they were quiet because of what he was. In his mind, adding humour to this situation didn't seem to hurt.

"The air hangs heavy in many places these days." Hydro responded, then tried to reciprocate with a joke, "I think there are many people that are need of a good drink and a more open eye to wardrobe." She flipped a lock back of her obnoxiously long light blue hair for emphasis.
The elf's state of dress had nothing to do with the quiet air in the tavern. With most of the island still at work the usual patrons had yet to arrive for the night. The crowd of locals who pressured Denwale Kounds into drinking himself into drunkenness was responsible for the loud raucous atmosphere in the tavern. Aylin was grateful for the lull in the activity around the tavern because at the moment there were other things to worry about than whether or not she would be hit on or greeted with yet another marriage proposal by the town drunk.
"Honestly, you came during a lull in the business. The local regulars haven't shown up for the night yet. And I for one am pretty thankful for that. They're a great bunch of people up here but you do not want to be around the town drunk. He'll hit on anyone and anything," Aylin remarked with a slight chuckle, "You heard me right. He'll hit on anything. There's quite a few casimir trees, airships, and a single rock that have the distinct pleasure of being proposed to by him. But hey, I will hand it to the guy he did pick the hottest looking rock on the block."

"I hear that s**t," The Dark Elf said, raising his glass to the light blue haired girl and then drank the rest of his Whiskey. He poured himself another glass while he took another puff of his clove cigarette. As he exhaled the smoke through his nose, he reached for an ash tray to tap his ashes onto. After a couple taps into the ashtray, he heard the Pixie speak and he grinned at the idea of being hit on by the town drunk. It would be a nice change from the dirty looks he had been getting as of late. Keeping the grin on his face he replied to the Pixie, "He sounds like a real charmer." And took a big gulp of his Whiskey.

*Hydro wondered if she could order a drink with her the meal she selected. She was 17*, not all taverns would serve her one.
Yin chose this moment to claim out of her hair and explore the bar at which she sat. Yin made little squeaking noises while wondering around.*

Upon hearing the elf's obviously uneducated compliment of Denwale Aylin, Frank, and Billy began laughing rather loudly. If the elf really knew Denwale he would know the local florist was the meekest most socially awkward individual on the island incapable of uttering a single word to any woman he came across. It was only when Denwale was drunker than drunk did he turn into an overly confident person who didn't see male or female, human or animal, animate or inanimate he just saw the opportunity to hit on someone or something. However, it came at a great price. Once sober Denwale never remembered a single thing he did while drunk. He never once recalled all the marriage proposals he made and the locals had come to know each proposal wasn't real.
"Denwale, a charmer," Frank commented between laughs.
"Yeah right, he's a real charmer," Billy added.
"He's so shy around women he can't even get the courage to speak to his own mother," Aylin remarked as she laughed and slapped the bar.

The Dark Elf watched the light blue haired girl walk around a bit, but his attention turned to the Pixie and some of the other people in the room laughing. They knew he was joking, right? He didn't know if they knew. But just in case they weren't, he took another gulp of his Whiskey and wondered if he should even ask. He decided against asking, instead he took a long drag of his clove cigarette and then exhaled out his nose. He said, "So. Any other 'friendly' locals I should avoid?"

*Usually patient with her little dragon, Hydro nevertheless scooped Yin from the floor and placed him on the drink bar in front of her. She finally requested an order for a plate of food, fore-going a draft for now. Too early in the day for a young drinker to get started. She giggled at the conversation between Alyin and the elf, whose name she realized she did not know.* "So, what does bring you around here, sir? I'm Hydro, by the way."
