Awakening Mumbling.
That's all that could be heard from the warmth within. Breathless. The cage which held the creature was slowly dwindling in strength. He could feel it's walls thinning. The mucous membrane within began to eat away at the walls, the home of this creature for the past few months as it readied the outside world for him.
Days in and out, the little creature would sleep to no end. Awaken for a few moments before slowly dozing off again. It went on for weeks this way. Swimming about it's own private space, circling in comfort within the barricade.
Finally, the time came when the mumbling began to be coherent. The once strong casing around the creature was giving way. Curious eyes flickered as a paw batted against the inner wall. One. Two. Three. Crack. A glimmer of light shown through the small crack. With squinted eyes, another bat at the inner wall was in order. Crack. Crack. The one c***k became three small rifts within the surface. With more strength, surely he could breach the barrier. The curiosity, and now necessity, to see what was beyond his sanctum was growing evermore each second.
With a final burst of strength, the rift chipped further, finally allowing more than just light into his sight.
"Mommy! Come quickly!" a shrill voice called from the outside.
With chills down his spine, the little creature finally burst through the opening, falling out with much less grace than ever seen before. Tumbling to the dirt floor beneath him.
Opening his eyes at random intervals, the creature was able to take in the brightness of his surroundings and finally see who's voices he was hearing. Two beings stood overhead, both much larger than himself. Yet he felt strangely at peace and awe with the world around.
"Ah, I'm glad you have finally awakened, child." a large being stated with a grandiose smile, sweeping up the little creature into it's humanly arms.
"Alduin. Your name shall be Alduin." the kind voice stated, running her finger over the Orakoi's mouth, who instantly went in for a soft bite.
Soft laughter filled the cavern and all was right with the world at that very moment.
The Khehorian exited the cavern with the Orakoi in her arms, followed by the Orakoir whom had noticed the hatching in the first place. "Everyone, my second boy has finally arrived." she called to the congregation outside. Those who were walking past stopped and gave a congratulations.
Alduin took in all of the sights that he could, his gray eyes scanning everything in sight. It was a scary world out here, but his mother knew that he could overcome it, grow, strengthen, and be able to fend for himself one day. All the little dragon could think was how bright everything was in comparison to the norm in which he was used to.
After announcing his hatching to the people of the Okkovo clan, the Khehorian took her son back into the cavern and set him down on the small haystack which the family had crafted into a soft bedding for the two babies. He was set next to his brother, whom was only a few days older than himself; and there he sat, taking in the cavern and the beauty of the world around him.

Coming of Age One year after the birth of Alduin and his brother, Ysava, the two had grown up quite a bit. The leaders of the Okkovo clan welcomed Ysava and Alduin with much love and open arms, fully accepting them into the clan. Annivale and Laera tried their best to make sure the boys grew with confidence, grace, and power. Alduin knew that he was meant to be a healer, whereas his brother took the more offensive route.
The Orakoi was unsure of his potential, yet practiced day in and day out with his older sister who helps him learn of herbalism and healing when their mother is not available to do so. He has since become knowledgeable on many small aspects of the craft.
Their father, Odah, had yet to come home from the war. Laera and Annivale missed him dearly, as the two youngsters didn't ever have the opportunity to meet their father. Although they wished they could, as Ysava has heard many stories of the perilous tales their father had encountered and been able to get out of, he wishes to take on that role and has been quite protective of his siblings since that time.
As time went on, it was about the time when an Orakoi began to be considered an Orakoir. The dragon-blooded warriors were quite excited to be having their "coming of age" celebration. The tribe members would gather around the Orakoi and celebrate one last night of peace and good will with each other. Thus, by the next day, each Orakoi within the ceremony was then considered an Orakoir.
Alduin himself couldn't wait for his coming of age ceremony. He longed for the day when he would be able to show off some of his magical ability and prove to the rest of the clan that he was ready to take on the responsibilities of an Orakoir and further learn the ways of a powerful Ysali Khehora. He wanted nothing more than to strengthen his powers and become a strong Khehorian one day.
Finally, after almost a year of waiting, Alduin and Ysava were chosen for the next coming of age ceremony. The two couldn't wait, and so truly begins their life for power, strength, love, peace, tranquility, and honor.
The night before the ceremony, Laera came into the two Orakoi's room. "Boys, are you two ready for tomorrow? Make sure you have your chosen spells all ready for the dawn." she stated.
"Yes! I do! I'm going to show off the healing spell you taught me." Alduin said with a smile.
"And I'm going to show off the poison spell. I want to become a warrior like father is. I just wish he was here to teach me poison." Ysava stated, sighing at the end of his sentence.
The three siblings sat in silence for a moment, but Laera spoke up after a bit. "Ysava, don't you worry. You'll do fine. You too, Alduin. I'm glad you've each chosen your own path. I can't wait to be in the celebration circle with you. It will be great fun! But get some rest. Dawn approaches quicker than you know. Good night." the older Ysali said with a smile as she finished throwing a makeshift blanket onto each of her younger siblings and took her leave.
A smile crept upon the youngest Orakoi as he looked at the wall next to him. In a hushed tone he said, "Tomorrow will be great. The rest of our lives are ahead of us."
Excitement abound in the room as the two Orakoi slowly drifted off into a sweet slumber for the rest of the evening.

Being Born of a Ysali Part One: Healing It was a beautiful day out in the world of Serenia. The sun was high, and the lush green grass swaying in a light breeze through the valley where three Ysali Khehora were alone and training.
"You two need to pay better attention if you are ever going to learn anything." Alduin's older sister, Laera, scolded both of the brothers.
"He won't stop pestering, though!" Alduin stated, sending a glare towards his brother who just snickered under his breath.
"Ysava, stop. Both of you, mother expects us home in an hour and she's going to question your readiness for the outside world. I have to be honest. After your stunt last month, Ysava, I can assure you that you are not ready for anything. So much for a warrior. You both need to learn some sort of healing spells, and being one with the grounds and plants. Especially before going off to serve in the war effort." Laera said, directing everything toward Ysava.
Ysava rolled his eyes and laid down, resting his head on his claws as he did. "Yeah, yeah. I gotcha. I'm just so bored. I don't know how you two can sit in one spot all day and read tomes or spell books that the elders have stolen from the Magescians. If we're going to war with them, shouldn't I be learning poison spells?"
Laera looked at her brother and shook her head. "You will. Since you wish to be a warrior, you'll learn much more about poisons. But both of you need to learn each aspect of the Ysali life. There's both good and bad within the Ysali. Healing spells and supporting abilities will teach you, Alduin, how to help and support others through war. Poison will help you, Ysava, go into war prepared and ready to take down those who wish to bring you down. But both combined are necessary for any well balanced Ysali. Even if you are simply out in the world alone, one must have some knowledge of both types. Offensive and defensive. If you ever wish to survive out there anyway. And that's why your last attempt into the world ended so terribly." she said, nudging the tomes pages to turn them.
Alduin nodded. He certainly understood the importance of learning both sides to Ysali culture. His brother wasn't so enthusiastic, however.
"Okay, but if I'll be with healers during war, shouldn't I just focus on my poison spells? They'll be able to heal me, so why worry about it?" he asked.
"Ysava! You have not listened to a damn word I've said this entire lesson, have you? You need both to survive. Gods, why do I even bother with this one?" she asked herself, snout pointed to the sky.
Alduin rolled his eyes at his brother's ignorance.
"Chill out, sis! It's not like-"
"Ysava, just go home." Alduin interrupted. "If you really don't want to learn anything, than there's no use in you staying here to waste Laera's time. I'm also trying to learn you know. You can go home and I'll catch you up later if you wish." he concluded.
Ysava laughed. "Thanks brother, I will. See you later, sis. Take care you two." he started, as he got up to walk away. "Finally out of this shitty mess." he murmured under his breath.
Laera glared at the Orakoir and dug her claws into the grass as he walked away. "That boy needs some sense knocked into him." she stated. "Watch, he'll get out into the world and you'll see, he won't last one minute." she ended, taking a deep breath. "But anyway, back to the lesson."
The hour came and gone, and Laera and Alduin continued their lesson. Learning about healing was what Alduin really wanted, but he also knew he had to go with his brother to learn about the poisonous side of Ysali. He felt as though he was ready to take on the world, at least a little more prepared now that his sister had taught him everything she could. Though he agreed, the way Ysava carried himself when the two of them went out into the Forests of Aurinead, that was quite cowardly. He just knew that he didn't want to end up like Ysava.

Being Born of a Ysali Part Two: Poison A week had passed, and the two Ysali Orakoir found themselves out in the same open field less than a mile from their village, just as they had the week before. The only difference this time was the trainer. Karrak, an experienced Ysali Khehorian warrior for the Okkovo Clan, was assigned to train them in the art of poison and disease.
Alduin wasn't truly interested, but he kept his mouth shut, unlike his brother. This was where his brother was to shine. With a smile on his face, he sat there quietly listening to Karrak's lecture on how to produce enough poison to eradicate a small population of Dunkel.
"So, you kids understand what I'm talking about? I want you to show me!" he asked in his two legged form. He crossed his arms and raised a brow as Ysava took to the stage before them.
"How's this?!" he said excitedly, taking a deep breath and blowing out air. A bizarre, confused look appeared on the Ysali's face as he realized he hadn't done anything at all.
Karrak laughed a hearty, deep laugh that didn't stop for a good two minutes. "That was pathetic, kid! Do you even know how to access your poison glands? That was supposed to be in your first lesson. About both your magical properties and poison glands." he said, becoming ever more serious by the end.
Ysava's eyes widened and he looked at Alduin in shock and horror. Alduin snickered a bit, but tried to keep his composure. "Can I try?" he asked, curiously.
Karrak smiled, nodded, and extended an arm, giving the other Ysali the floor.
As Alduin stood and walked over to the center, he took a few quick, deep breaths. He closed his eyes, took in a large amount of air, and slowly breathed outwards, exhaling his dark green poison into the air.
Karrak was impressed; he even clapped. "See, boy," he began, looking Ysava in the eyes, "that's how it's done." he stated. "Very nice work there, Alduin. Turning out to be quite the warrior. Just like your father." he said, a grand smile on his face.
Alduin smiled, but glanced at his brother, who looked obviously downcast. He felt bad for his older brother's folly. But he had no one to blame but himself, Alduin decided.
"Very good. Now then." the Khehorian began, "Ysava, can you show me the basic growth technique? This is used for anything, from defending oneself to using the growth to help heal. Also stated in lesson one." Karrak asked.
Alduin looked at his brother with a hopeful heart. At least that was covered while he was still there. Maybe he had retained some sort of information on it?
Ysava looked at the instructor, then at Alduin, and finally down at the ground. Had he really not even known how to produce even a small flower? A basic life force? Anything? Alduin rolled his eyes, now this was truly a disgrace and he was just getting annoyed.
"No? Nothing?" Karrak sighed. "What about you, Alduin?" he asked.
Alduin stood up and bent down, snout towards the ground. He closed his eyes and when he opened them, they were glowing a bright green. He raised his snout slowly off the ground and a few feet in front of him popped out a small flower, beautiful in color, and perfect in every way. Suddenly, his eyes turned back into the beautiful, natural lavender color that they are.
Another applause. "Very nice, very nice. Now, Ysava, why can't you do any of this? This is basic." he asked, concerned and disappointed.
Ysava shrugged and continued to look at the ground.
"Well, that's enough for today than." Karrak said with a shake of his head, sending the two Orakoir home for the day.

The Jealous Sibling "Don't you dare begin to tell me I'm wrong, Laera! You have no idea what you're even talking about! You don't understand how I feel!" the Orakoir yelled.
Alduin awoke with a startling message. His brother was angry about something, and he was taking whatever it was out on Laera, their older sister. Alduin did his best to listen in on the conversation.
"I'm trying my best to understand, Ysava. I really am. But you've brought it all on yourself. You-" Laera started, but was interrupted.
"Shut up, Laera! You'll never understand. Alduin will always be the favorite. I'm never good enough, not for you, not for Karrak, not for mother, father, the elders, anyone!" Ysava cried. He let out small whimpers here and there, quite upset. He walked to the entrance of the cave and let out a dragon's roar. He needed to get away; go somewhere he was accepted. The Okkovo Clan wasn't the place for him.
Laera followed him to the entrance and sat down next to him. "All you need is discipline. Everyone thinks you are great. You just have to prove it to yourself. The elders, mother, and I all believe in you. You just need some discipline." she said, bearing her teeth as if to smile.
Ysava shook his head. "No, Laera, nobody will ever view me as any better than Alduin. I'll learn what I need to learn. Sure, fine, it's my fault I failed with Karrak. But the fact that Alduin came in and made a fool of me...that's not right." he stated.
Laera let out a growling sigh. "You are my brother, Ysava. As is Alduin. You mustn't let this get to you. I'm sure he didn't mean-"
"Of course he did! He stepped up and showed off in front of Karrak, shoving it all in my face that I couldn't do it. I'm tired of his smug little attitude. He'll get what's coming to him one of these days. I promise you that."
With that, Ysava got up and slowly made his way back to the bedroom for the evening, where Alduin had been "sleeping" the entire time.
~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, Alduin awoke to his brother, sleeping beside him on the next bed over. He looked at him with sad eyes. How could he feel that way? What did he even mean when he said that he'll get what's coming to him one of these days? Alduin was just so unsure of himself and his brother's mind the night before.
The Orakoir walked out of the cave to find his sister outside enjoying the breeze and talking with their mother. When she noticed him, she walked up to him slowly. "You heard it all, didn't you?" she asked.
Alduin nodded with a downcast look upon his face. Of course he had. He was surprised the rest of the village didn't awaken due to how loud his brother was being.
"Don't let him get to you. He's just angry that you were able to do something he wasn't. Don't take it personally. Just be the best Ysali you can be and forget whatever he tells you." his sister reminded.
Laera was always looking out for him, and his brother. She was the greatest big sister anyone could have ever asked for. She knew what to say and when to say it; and it always made Alduin feel better.
Alduin decided to take his sister's advice. Nothing was going to get him down. Not now, not ever. He would just be the best Ysali he could be. That was all he could do.
Sibling Spat "Brother, may I speak with you?" a timid voice spoke, claws clamoring with each step into the cavern.
"What do you want?" an annoyed Orakoir responded.
"I just wish to make things right. I heard what you said last night to Laera."
"You can't. And I'm glad you heard. You've always been an eavesdropper anyway. You've made me more mad than I've ever been, Alduin. You've taken my pride and stomped it down into dust. You've made a fool of me-" he began, yet was cut off.
"You made a fool of yourself, Ysava! If you'd only just-"
"Listen here, little brother. I don't take any sort of orders from you. None whatsoever."
"Little brother!? You've got to be joking. You're literally a day older. You have no power over me or my actions! Get over yourself, Ysava! You just need-"
"Shut up! I won't have you undermining me. You've done enough of that already."
"No, Ysava, you shut up. I haven't undermined anything of yours, and you know it. You're just mad because you're both a coward and an idiot."
The Orakoir growled and barked a bit, digging his claws into the dirt. "You...know...nothing."
"Obviously it's you who knows nothing, brother. Otherwise you would have been able to prove to Karrak that you're ready for the outside world with a simple breath of poison...or even a simple flowers growth. Ysava, please, don't bore me with your ignorance. If you even paid attention to one thing Laera taught us on our first lesson, you'd have been prepared for anything Karrak threw at you. But now you're sulking and you're making me sick. So if you'd like to continue this, an apology would be great." the stout young Orakoir stated, sitting down, tail wagging back and forth through the dirt with nervous-ness. He had never spoken to anyone like that before; and it was something totally different from what he was used to. Normally so reserved, his feelings were coming forth and he couldn't keep it back. His tongue wouldn't allow it.
"An apology? You...expect me to apologize...to you? The one person who was supposed to have my back from the beginning? My brother...born of the same clutch. You who stabbed me in the back, flaunted your abilities before me, made me feel so utterly foolish. You, Alduin, are the one who's making me sick, and you have since day one. Always trying to win and one-up me. Be the best at everything. Your face is poison to my eyes in the worst possible way. <******** you. I hope you rot." Ysava stated, walking up to his brother, pushing him aside with one claw and walking out of the cavern in a huff, twitching his tail in anger.
Alduin huffed as his brother left. How could he say that? What had gotten into him? All he had done was paid attention to the lessons, done what was asked of him. How was that wrong in any sense? He shook his head, now saddened by the way the conversation had ended. Hopefully he could make things right; though his brother had a way with getting under his skin. He just couldn't believe how his brother felt, and more importantly, why he felt that way. So entitled, so arrogant. That boiled the Ysali's blood more than anything else.
The Leaving "Laera! Laera! Come quickly!" called the mother in a terrified tone.
Once heard, the Orakovan bounded towards her mother's voice, "What is it!? What's wrong? Mother?"
"It's your brother, Ysava. He's...gone." Annivale stated, tears streaming down her Khehorian form's face.
"G-gone!? What do you mean gone!?" surprise and shock overtook the Ysali Orakovan. "Where could he have even gone to!?" she concluded her questioning.
"Look..." the mother stated, pointing to some scribbles in their draconic language that were etched into the ground.
A gasp filled the air. Ysava really was gone. And he blamed his brother for it all.
"We must alert the elders. We also have to get Alduin involved." Annivale stated, working through the tearstained face.
"Ysava is such an idiot. Alduin hasn't done anything wrong. Why is he acting like such a child!?" concern turned to anger in a blink of an eye. "Alduin truly doesn't deserve this kind of criticism, mother. He hasn't done anything wrong. Just give it time. Ysava will be back, I just know it."
Annivale kept her eyes on the note. She couldn't believe Ysava would just leave the way he did. She shook her head and another tear rolled down her cheek. "Go get your brother, I wish to see him." she requested.
Laera turned and went back into the cavern where Alduin slept peacefully. "Alduin, get up, we have a problem. It's about Ysava." she stated, a droned tone of voice.
"Wh-what's wrong?" a half awake Orakoir stated, a large yawn following suit.
"He's gone; and he's blaming you."
"What!? That's absurd." he replied, beginning to stand up and stretch out his back and wings.
"I understand, but mother wishes to speak with you."
"She...she wants to speak with me? About what? Did you tell her I have nothing to do with his leaving?"
"Yes, of course I did. She doesn't care. She wishes to see you nevertheless."
With a huff, Alduin slowly made his way to where his mother was sitting.
"Alduin, there you are. Look here." Annivale stated upon seeing Alduin arrive.
Doing as he was told, the Ysali looked over his brother's note before speaking. "Like I told Laera, this is absolutely absurd, mother. You don't actually believe I drove him out of Okkovo, do you?"
"I don't think you'd do that, no."
"Than what is it?"
"I believe that he's hurt by your presence, but you must go find him. Bring him back here; lest he be killed by dragons or other monsters out in the forests."
"Mother...y-you can't be serious?!"
"I most certainly am, Alduin. If you care for your brother at all; you'll go, find him, and bring him home to Okkovo safely. Take Laera if you so desire. I have to attend an elder council soon. Ysava must be found before something terrible happens to him...or worse...the clan as a whole."
With that, the Khehorian stood, wiped her face and made her way towards the council tent, where they would hold a meeting that she must attend. Alduin, stunned, was unable to think or process anything more for the time being. He was certain that his brother -- and mother -- had gone absolutely insane.
A Lost Brother "Alduin, are you ready?" Laera questioned.
The Orakoir scuttled out of the cavern, a look of pure annoyance upon his face. "Do I really even have a choice?" he asked, sarcastically.
"I can't believe mother is making us both go out and find our idiot of a brother."
"Yeah...neither can I." he stated, dryly, thinking back on his mother's words.
"...Ysava must be found before something terrible happens to him...or worse...the clan as a whole."
"I wonder what she meant..." he whispered to himself. "...the clan as a whole?"
"Alright, lets head out."
His sister's words brought him back to reality. He couldn't believe that he was being forced out of the village to find his brother.
~~~~~
Time had passed so slowly for the two, who were out in the Forests of Aurinead looking for their lost brother.
"He doesn't want to be found. So why are we even bothering?" he asked.
"Because...mother is counting on us. As much as I hate this too, we can't just give up. Mother would be so disappointed."
It was true, she would be, and nobody liked to disappoint anyone of the elder council, especially one of your own bloodline. Plus, actions like these embarrassed the elders, and caused dishonor within families in the Okkovo Clan. Thus, the two couldn't believe that Ysava, knowing all of this, would do this to their family. Mother wouldn't be sick because of her son leaving, she'd be far more sickened by the fact that the Quaron family name would be left tarnished so.
"What will we even say if we do eventually end up finding him? He won't come back with us, I'm sure." Alduin stated.
Laera nodded in agreement. "I have no idea. Maybe I can talk some sense into him? But we have to at least try." she stated.
Alduin rolled his eyes at the thought. But she was right. They would have to try.
~~~~~
After hours of searching, the two were headed back towards the village.
"I can't believe we were out here all day, calling for him...everything. And we have found absolutely nothing." Laera huffed.
"I know...mother is going to be so disappointed." Alduin stated, shaking his head.
"I hope we aren't dishonored for this."
"Dishonored...the whole Quaron family!? All because of Ysava's stupid actions? They would do that?"
"The elders can do whatever they please. They can even banish you because of it. So chances are, if we did return with Ysava by chance, they would likely banish him anyway for being careless."
The realization was true, and scary, for the little Orakoir. This world was so large and fearsome. He just hoped his older brother was alright; even if he did blame even leaving on him.
Upon entering the village, Annivale was outside the cavern.
"Mother, we've returned, and we found no sign of Ysava anywhere." Laera stated. "I'm so sorry." she concluded.
"It's alright, my dear. I'll have to tell the elders soon enough. Especially if he doesn't return by next sun." she stated, getting up and walking deeper into the cavern.
Alduin, head hung low, continued in after his mother. Why would his brother do this to them? This affected the entire family...how stupid could one be?
