The young man grinned widely as he considered actually doing it. The way she blushed was cute. It would probably freak her out if he did and it would be hilarious. In the mean time, he answered her question.
"Orah is my older sister. She's 18 and has been pretty much mom since I was a baby. Our mom died when I was two, so... she likes to think she gets to boss me around because of it. Is your dad a Jesus freak or something?" Not the most smooth way of asking that question, but when you didn't grow up religious, things like that just seemed less serious to you.
Finally, Matthew hunched forward and reached up over his head to grab the back of his tank top, hauling it up over his head. Shirt dangling off one wrist as he pulled the other free, he pulled his long ponytail back over his tan shoulders and braced his fists on his hips. He gave Dana a crooked grin, flexing one of his arms to show off the tone of the muscle.
"So how do I compare to a werewolf?" He teased, covering up a sudden case of nervousness with bravado. Matthew knew he didn't have the bulk of Taylor Lautner... It wouldn't be cool if Dana took one look at his lanky body and laugh him right out of the underpass.

"Oh," Dana's lips pursed and eye contact was broken again at the explanation of Orah and his mom, in a slightly skewed fashion. This wasn't an act of shyness, but rather one of cold detachment. She could relate, better than she'd like, since she had her own overbearing older sister who had issues with imposing authority after they'd lost their mom. But Dana and Evie's relationship had escalated to a level of brutal hostility, and the ability to relate resulted in something of a weird shut down.
At least until she should casually roll her shoulders in a shrug, "Nah, he's a reverend." It was equally less serious to Dana, having grown up exempt from all the formality and had been accused more than once of sock sliding down the sanctuary aisle.
Her eyes finally found their way off the ground just in time to watch the process of him pulling off his shirt, and she froze where she stood. "I-I..." Eyes nearly bulged out of her skull as she stared.
And then her face turned a bright and vibrant shade of red as she covered her mouth with a loud, long gasp. Oh my god he took his shirt off.
Her cheeks, the back of her ears, even her neck felt white hot and her heartbeat started ringing in her ears. Suddenly nervous, shy, and embarrassed she moved with lightening speed to grab her backpack, leaving behind the two paint cans she'd taken out earlier.
"Gottagobye!" She squealed, fleeing the scene.

A reverend? Ouch... No wonder her dad was a basket case over things. The blush his lack of shirt solicited was intensely gratifying, right up until she suddenly panicked and took off, snatching up her bag as she went.
"Hey, wait!" He called after her, cupping a hand beside his mouth. "Can I at least have your number?"
Dang it... Well, she did leave her paint cans. Pulling his shirt back on, Matthew bent to pick them up, twirling one on his palm thoughtfully. He'd have to keep an eye out for Choir Girl around town so he could return them. Starting to whistle, the young man strolled the other direction with the cans stuffed into his pockets, his shoes stuffing the sidewalk.
