"Heh...y-yeah..." He spoke softly with the tiniest of smiles before shuffling into the house. Still a young boy, he felt the pressure of keeping on Ocie's good side. Especially since he'd no doubt see the naiad hybrid in the future with him being friends with Rose. His gentle blue eyes flicked over to Flutterby, noticing her stammering. Why was she so unsure of herself around family? Did he scare her so much? Hemi couldn't fathom that he was intimidating. Maybe she likes me? His teenage hormones instantly thought before he quickly squashed them. Those were dangerous thoughts to have around the girls father. Might lead to him staring which would lead to him being...

well, probably dead. "Oh, tea would be great!" Hemi exclaimed as his eyes shifted from one sister to the other. Rosewater was unexpectedly nice at the moment, considering how mischievous she acted at the party that they met. Maybe just like him, she was working out a rebellious streak like him and this was her real self? He liked this side of her. Slowly he lowered his pack to the floor, finally relaxing. But he was reminded of his journey with Rosewater's offer, so he looked over at Twinkleshine. "You're sort of like those faun pae, right? Can I ask you a question?"

Rosewater carefully listened to her family's conversation with Hemi as she waited for the fire to die down. Sure, the guy wasn't unlikable or anything; heck, some might even have the nerve to call him an attractive sort. Just how the heck had he managed to find her in this area of the island?

Before Flutter could reply, Twinkleshine turned her attention to the boy. Apparently he had a question for her? "Well, more than sort of like them really. We are both faun, even if we look a bit differently." She paused as she thought to herself, continuing more softly. "I think it is just differences from where we were raised or something like that..." Smiling, she shrugged and nodded. "But sure, what do you want to ask me?"

At this point, the embers had dampened enough that she could use them. As she left the kitchenette, she brought a sort of pot with her to her father's room to fill it with water from the hole connecting it to the lake. Most families would have been against going into the room of a parent, but this was the easiest way to fetch water for their abode. Once it was full, she returned to the kitchen and set it upon the 'stove' to let it heat the water inside.

Her explanation of what she was exactly was interesting, but he had more pressing issues at hand than to learn about Faun back history. "Well...you see...I have an uncle. A great uncle actually, who is a Faun. I'm on my way to meet him, only I didn't know how to get a hold of him so it's sort of a surprise." Now that he said it out loud, it sounded pretty foolish. Lets run out by himself farther than he ever had been to visit an uncle who he didn't know and wasn't aware he was coming.

He was going to be grounded for forever once his parents got a hold of him. "I know he lives in the Tree. Is it easy for me to just walk on in? Or is there some pae I have to talk to first?" Come to think about it, Hemi didn't even know what his great uncle looked like. Only a name. Boy was he in trouble.

The confusion on Twinkleshine's face was fairly obvious as he spoke. Him... with an uncle who was a faun...? But he didn't look anything like a faun. Of course, Sparrow didn't look like her either, so perhaps adopted relations? Either way...

"You? Enter the tree...?!" She hadn't meant to place the emphasis on him, but you couldn't really blame her. He was an angel...demon...hybrid? Either way, he was certainly not a faun nor a naiad, so him entering would simply be out of the question. Completely and totally. But she couldn't say that to him so simply after he'd clearly been traveling for some time to see this faun. "Well..." she looked to Ocie, trying to see if he might nonverbally suggest anything.

Might as well do this as quickly as possible.

"...no, not really... You cannot enter the tree."

Having just finished making the tea, Rosewater brought in a makeshift serving dish with a number of steaming cups. "Only faun, naiad, or their direct decedents are allowed in Laisidhiel." As she set the tray down, she picked up a cup and held it out for her mother.

Twinkleshine smiled as she took it. "Thank you dear."

She then picked up another to hand to Hemi next.

Flutterby stayed silent, having been cut off by a question. Mostly she wanted to listen to what everyone was saying anyways. Finally when Mom suggested he couldn't enter the tree Flutterby gave up and retreated to her little corner. No one was likely to notice it either. They were all content to talk about Hemi entering the tree, or not doing so it seemed.

Ocie coughed, "Hemi, you could always ask someone who can enter The Great Tree to look for your uncle?" He couldn't remain silent, Ocie knew how hard it was to gain acceptance into something like that. He still wasn't sure himself if he would be allowed into the tree. It was already tentative enough for him to be in the waters that allowed him to live. "Do you know any faun or naiads well enough to ask them for help?"

Flutterby's slinking away didn't go completely unnoticed. At her movement Hemi's blue eyes flicked towards her, but instantly went back to Twinkleshine as his matter was fairly pressing. He felt like he was slapped in the face, despite the gentle way she put it. "Really?" Rosewater gently chimed in then as she came with tea. Direct decedents...probably didn't mean adopted. He was obviously no faun.

Hemi quickly shook the sad look that had crept onto his face. "Thanks." His hands wrapped around the warm cup. A cough brought his gaze from the steaming surface to Ocie. Flutterby he had noticed, but the fae/naiad had gone almost forgotten. Of course he kept tabs on the hotties! "Well...no. Just you guys really." He admitted embarrassedly. "Would...anyone be able to go in for me?" Tall order to a family he just met, Rose aside. Perhaps Rosewater could go with him on his roadtrip...

Road trip with a Hot-hot-hottie!

Twinkleshine felt a tinge of immediate regret once she saw the teenager's broken expression. Taking her tea to her lips, she took a sip before squinting ever-so-slightly; Rosewater hadn't sweetened it yet? Maybe she was trying to tell her something... Nah. Laughing lightly, she looked over to Rosewater, then to Flutterby who had removed herself from the conversation it appeared. "Flutter, dear, would you mind bringing the milk and sugar please?" and any cookies they had left; did they? The fauny couldn't remember at the moment, but it would probably seem a bit much if she asked for them as well. Darn her sweet tooth.

Rosewater did, in fact, give her mom a slightly-irritated glance when she asked for the additions to be brought out. Why ruin the pure taste of a nice tea with sugar and milk, or with the wrong pairing of sweet? It was more than just a shame.

Quite consciously not looking to Rose in anticipation of that reaction, Twinkleshine instead set her cup in front of her and stared at Hemi. "The tree is near a day's trip from here by hoof; I usually go once every couple of weeks for provisions..." pausing, she looked to Ocie to let him know that she wanted his opinion on the situation as well. "...but I suppose I could revisit a bit sooner on this occasion?" She couldn't just leave the situation like this.

"Do you at least know his or her name: the faun you are trying to meet?"

Flutterby blinked, looking at her mom. That was mildly unusual, she was usually ignored when she retreated from the conversation like that. But, she knew Mom would want the sweets for her tea, and Rose was never inclined to get them. Rose and Flutter shared a different opinion on how tea should taste. And so did Flutter and Mom. As quietly as she had extracted herself from the conversation, she left for the kitchen.

"M-m-milk... Cookies... Su-su-sugar." She frowned, not seeing the sugar immediately. There were always cookies though, someone was baking often enough. Always cookies. There couldn't be tea without cookies. Or milk. Mmm, milk tea. Flutterby shook her head, clearing the thought as she searched for the sugar.

Ocie shrugged a bit, wondering if it was really safe for Twinkle to go alone most of the times anyways. "Maybe you could Dear." He offered, smiling the best he could. His mind was elsewhere. "Perhaps take one of the kids with you too?" Ocie offered, knowing how much it meant to her to have the children introduced to the tree. He would never admit to it, but it would mean the same thing to him if they went towards the lakes.

"I don't think Flutterby has been up there yet, I'm sure you two could use the company?"

Milk and sugar? He never even fathomed putting that into his tea. Then again, they lived a rather simple life in his cave. Everything was brought in by hand as his granddad hated the 'plush life' of the City. Now a dab of honey on the other hand was always delicious...Sweet, but not too sweet. And soothing to the throat with a cold.

"Really? That would be amazing Ms. Twinkleshine! His name is Kaiden. I at least know that. An adult male. That's...really all I know though." He took a sip of tea as the father began speaking again. He honestly had forgotten the naiad was even there!

Wait. He was suggesting what he had been thinking. A hot-hot-hottie to come along! And it was the actual father suggesting it so couldn't be mad with the idea. This was the best day ever.

Clapping her hands together, Twinkleshine nodded to Ocie at his idea. "Oh yes! This could be a perfect chance to get her to come with me." She crossed her hands and pouted slightly. "Each and every time I ask her to come, she blows me off..." She sighed, whining lightly. "Why are teenagers so difficult?" Or, the girls anyways. Sealight never seemed to go out of his way to trouble them. Good boy, good boy. One day, he'd be an excellent man, just like his papa, but maybe he'd flirt a bit less with the girls...

"What do you think Flutter, would you finally come with me to the tree? I'm not going to ask you to swear your allegiance to it or anything, but you could at least see where your mom used to live."

Pausing, she clapped her hand together and looked over to Ocie, a serious look on her face as she thought before grinning and nodding. Yes... Good idea. "Maybe you could bring Rose and Sealight down to see Alu Spring while we're gone?" She knew, like mothers seem to know everything even if nobody actually said anything, that he wanted to bring them to visit. This would be as good a time as any, right?

Looking to Hemi, she addressed him next. "A male named Kaiden. Got it." A pause as her tone quieted. "You... will have to wait a ways outside of the tree without us when we go in, is that okay?"

"Sounds like a lovely idea Twinkle." He smiled, putting the springs out of his mind. That was a trip for another day. At least until she brought up taking the kids to Alu Springs. Would Rose or Sealight actually go? "Only if they want to Dear."

Flutterby frowned. She really didn't want to go to the tree, but it sounded like Rose wasn't going to go. And she might get to spend more time with a boy. Even if her mom would be there too. Setting down the tray with the goodies, the teen stepped back, thinking about the offer. Rose wouldn't be there. "O-o-okay." She finally agreed, hoping that Rose would go to Alu Springs.

But then Mom said Hemi would have to wait outside the tree. "I could wait with him Mom?" She squeaked, surprisingly clear. No need to stutter when you were shocked to be saying something in the first place.

"Rose, would you like to visit Alu Springs?" Ocie offered, figuring it was best to just get that line of questioning out of the way. No need to force the kids to go anywhere they didn't want to. He'd ask Sealight when the boy was feeling more social.

Flutterby was difficult? She didn't strike him as such. Then again, the amount he knew about the hybrid could fit in a teaspoon. He was a touch saddened with the thought of Rosewater not tagging along, but at least he'd have one hot-hottie with him. "I don't mind waiting outside. Guess it was stupid to think I could just waltz in." He chuckled softly at that as he rubbed the back of his neck. Silly indeed.

It really was heartwarming that this family was going out of their way to help him, a pae they barely knew. Thank the Guardians he was friends with Rosewater and somehow managed to stumble across her house. He absentmindedly took a cookie and bit into it. Wait with him? So, like one on one with the cutie? He flashed a smile at Flutterby. Did she really hate the Tree so much she'd rather wait with a stranger? It was cute, the way she stuttered. Though sometimes she'd slip and the impediment would disappear. He wondered if it was permanent or if she could work through it.

Twinkleshine almost pouted again at Ocie. If they just let the kids do only what they pleased, how could they teach them to do anything or to listen to those in authority? Honestly, though, she was just as much a pushover and all faun and their mothers knew it. Reaching for the sugar and milk, the fauny loaded her drink up (much to Rose's disdain) before bringing it back to her lips. Taking a sip, there was a momentary look of defeat as the realized it'd cooled significantly, but a simple reach for a cookie to dip it in the (now) milk tea brought a warm smile back to her face.

She was a simple pae with simple pleasures, and milk (tea with sugar) and cookies was one of them.

Looking to Flutter, she finished the cookie before continuing. "You'll come then~? Yay!" Her voice softened and saddened, however, as the quasi-argument began. "But... it's the first time you're coming with me... I wanted to show you so many things, like the grand hall and my old alcove and where the princesses and Lady Vanya live..." It was cruel to make her think she finally would show an interest in her culture and then deliberately say she didn't want anything to do with it. How mean... That, and she really didn't feel comfortable leaving her daughter alone with a non-faun when relations between their kinds was becoming more stressed each day. It was a risk she wasn't particularly willing to take at this moment.

A non-faun would be fine on his own though in the middle of the day if someone like him came around.

Having quietly finished her tea, Rosewater looked to her father and shrugged. "I'm not opposed to it." She paused as she thought to herself. She was at the age to considering aligning herself to a faction to obtain a unique power as her parents had. From her experience, the faun were strong in tradition and strength, but they were stubborn to the point of foolishness. What might the naiad be like? Perhaps a better fit? "Yes, I think I'd like to visit."

Flutter blinked, looking at her mom. "I w-w-wa-want to s-s-see all of th-th-that!" The capri couldn't believe, of all the pae, that her mom wasn't going to worry about the pae they were helping! "Bu-bu-but it's n-no-not ni-ni-nice to le-l-leave him all a-a-alone wh-wh-when he do-doesn't kn-kn-know an-an-anything!" She managed, almost impressed with herself at the entire sentence. But that wasn't enough to bring a smile to her face. She really did want to see all the tree, but she also didn't want to worry about getting back outside quickly to see everyone taken care of.

Flutterby hadn't really ever paid any attention to her mother saying anything about pae like Hemi being bad. She was sure Mom had said something about it, but the teen didn't recall it. Why did she not trust Hemi? Was it because he was a stranger? "Af-af-af-after we ge-ge-g-get do-do-done with th-th-that th-th-then we ha-ha-ha-have all the ti-t-t-t-time we cou-could ever w-w-want!" Flutter grinned, excited about that. She'd be able to see all the tree with her mom and not have to worry about anything!

Ocie raised an eyebrow at Twinkle. She was almost as much of a pushover as he was. She was going to pout at him when she had just asked Flutterby if she wanted to go to the tree? He'd just done the exact same thing. Shrugging it off, though not literally, the sprite smiled as Rose.

"It's not quite like the tree." Ocie couldn't really describe it. He'd only lived inside the waters for a short time, at least full time inside the waters. It wasn't like he was able to fully stay there anyway, he needed air as much as he needed the water. Speaking of, he could feel the itching of his skin starting to dry. He'd need to get going back to his room soon. "I think you'll like it, but then, you've proven me wrong before." The sprite smiled at the opinionated girl.

It was almost heartbreaking to see the sadness on Twinkleshine's face, but Flutterby was quick to explain. She didn't want to make him wait outside alone more than necessary, and after he was matched up with his Uncle they could stick in the Tree for as long as they wanted. Thoughtful.

His eyes flicked to Rosewater as she agreed to go with her dad. It was nice for them to get some bonding, but he almost wanted to be selfish and have both girls come with him. Surrounded by some hot females? What hot-blooded teenage male wouldn't want that?! He took another sip of his tea as his eyes shifted around, waiting for the verdict of their plans.
