Iah'ryn sat in a small garden surrounded by charts, books of figures and symbols, and his own notes on parchment. Sunlight filtered between the trees and cast wavering shadows on his research. There was information that he was missing, pieces he either didn't have or couldn't see. He huffed, gasped, and snatched up a book. Flipping through it led to furious note taking and another huff.

The garden was part of the property of a stately old house which had seen better days. Most of the house was closed off, but Iah'ryn only needed a little space indoors. If there was sunlight, his work occurred in the garden. Time slipped quietly past.

Daystar beamed proudly, gesturing to the seating area, "Do have a seat. I tried my hand at banana bread. Added a bit of cinnamon, I want you to test it out." She got them settled with slices of her newest creation and finally held out her hands, "Now then. Let me see that lovely morsel you have tucked away."

"Mmm, certainly," he said, retrieving the small orb after taking the plate from Daystar. He dug into the banana and cinnamon concoction, devouring the pudding with gusto. "Amazing," he muttered to himself.

"I was thinking one of your apprentices may be able to work on something," he said as he watched Daystar 'look' over the orb. He felt the tell-tale tingle of magic as she studied the orb, letting her do as she wished, trusting her without words. She was an old friend and one that he would trust his life to.

Daystar nodded, distracted as she caressed the orb. The orb's light flared slightly when it reached her hand and she smiled softly before it disappeared. She hummed quietly, though quiet for a dragon was very different from quiet for others. Her hum, which was multi-toned, echoed in the cavernous room, though not unpleasantly. The orb flared even brighter, so bright at looking at it became impossible before the light died down to a steady glow. Daystar sighed, suddenly looking sad, "My wish is you find her...she is my good friend and I can no longer See her. Whatever has her has also stopped me from Speaking to her as well." She handed the orb back to Acar, "That should help. Now then....I do have someone in mind but he isn't one of my apprentices. He does, however, spend too much time alone...and on the ground." She whistled softly and a moment later, what appeared to be a rabbit with enormous came flying, yes flying in. It's enormous ears acted as wings. It was blue in color, the tips of its ears and the toes of it's hind paws were a darker shade of blue. It's eyes, large and full of innocence were mismatched, one appeared to be normal black, the other was a lurid green color. It landed on Daystar's lap and then...mewled...like a cat.

"This is Scout. She will help you find him. Do give him my regards, won't you?"

Scout turned and eyed the two she would be guiding. She huffed at them.

Seraphina made quick work of her treat but stayed silent for most of the exchange after her greeting. She eyed the creature dubiously but finally spoke up and said, "Thank you for everything, Day. We'll do our utmost to find her. We may need to bring her by you first after we find her if she needs healing. Also I am certain she will appreciate seeing a friendly face after her trial."

Acar bowed his head and stared with interest at Scout. It was not a creature that he had seen before, but at a glance, he understood that the creature had heightened senses and would likely be incredibly nimble. "Thank you for your help Daystar," he said, bowing with complete respect to the elder dragon. "Thank you for your help. As Seraphina said, we will do our utmost to find the High Priestess. By your leave, I believe that now is the time to start our journey."

The dragon nodded her head. "Stay safe and don't worry about Scout, he can look after himself."

Nodding, Acar held the precious orb in one hand, his large fingers closing over the flickering orb. "Scout, if you can please show us to Daystar's apprentice?"

Scout gave Acar a sidelong look and then sighed, shaking her head.

"Be nice, Scout." Daystar chided, but was smiling slightly.

She huffed and then jumped into the air, her large ears lifting her easily, she winged out of the cavern.

Seraphina chuckled and then loped easily after Scout. She opened her wings as she got outside, seeing that Scout wasn't doing much waiting around, she launched into the air, her wings snapping open to catch an air current.

Acar moved as fast as his natural flying speed would take him, which, while wasn't slow, was slower than both Scout and Seraphina. As he got to the cave entrance, he noticed Seraphina streaking after Scout, who wasn't waiting around for either of them.

Sighing, Acar let his senses flow and quickly found an air current that would take him in the same direction, though not directly behind them. Floating his way over, he hit the current and dove, like a diver into a pool, chasing the pair down.

Iah'ryn had grown distracted from his research and piled his books and papers into the library of the manor house. They joined many other such piles, all organized by his mind and appeared as utter chaos to anyone else. He returned to the garden. He found himself plucking fruit from a tree and tucking it into a bag without any real purpose. Another successful project, the cornucopia tree bore apples, pears, plums, and peaches all from the same trunk. They would naturally ripen at various times of the year, but the climate was so constant on the floating island that they cycled at least once every two months. Thus, the tree always bore some ripe fruit to be plucked.

He was alerted before he heard that he had guests. Small broad wingbeats followed by larger, stronger wings disrupted a mechanical radar bird on the peak of the roof. It chirped a warning and flew across the garden, metal claws skimming the branches above Iah'ryn as it spiraled down to him. "I didn't know I was expecting someone today..."

Scout chirruped when she caught sight of Iah'ryn and immediately arrowed into a dive, ignoring the bird. At the last possible second, she put on full brakes, her wings flaring wide as they caught the air, slowing her small body drastically. She landed neatly on Iah'ryn's head, her ears flopping down on either side of his head and brushing his shoulders just before a large shadow eclipsed them both momentarily.

Seraphina circled, once, twice, thrice before she decreased her altitude, satisfied there was no threat around. She landed gracefully with a quiet Thump and tucked her wings in against her body, "Well, met. Sorry to disturb you. I am Seraphina; Daystar sent us." She greeted, dipping her head slightly.

The mechanical bird was knocked into a spiral and barely recovered as the flying rabbit landed upon Iah'ryn's head. He laughed, a soft bubble of sound, and peered up at her through his brow. "Well hello, lop eared Scout. Apple?" He plucked an apple free from the tree and let her snatch it from him. His gaze shifted to the fire-toned gryphon who had landed and he bowed his head in respect. Scout remained balanced, intent on her treat. "Good noon, Seraphina. I am always glad to receive guests, especially when they are sent by my dear friend and mentor."

Does quoting people notify them some way? Did I miss that setting somehow?

Seraphina glanced up at Scout, who was balanced on her hind legs on Iah'ryn's head, making very quick work of the apple he'd given her. She huffed out an amused sound, "Yes, well. My partner will be here soon. I don't know if you have heard the news but the High Priestess has gone missing. We have a feeling it is foul play and have been tasked with the assignment to find her. You came highly recommended as a resource to tap. So, how about it? Want to go on an adventure?"

Acar chuckled to himself as he caught the end of Seraphina's request to Iah'ryn. He reached out and held his hand for the mechanical bird to land on as he slowed his own decent and neared the garden.

The smell of the fresh turned earth and the new growth from the plants around him made him smile faintly. Even well above the solid earth below, people could make farms and produce more than enough food for themselves and others. The garden around him however, was something special. He could feel the magic from some of the plants radiating gently.

"Greetings Iah'ryn. As Seraphina asked, want to go on an adventure?"

There had been word, mostly whispers ideas and worries, of the High Priestess's disappearance. Iah'ryn had written it off as fear mongering due to shifts in weather, until an island fell. That had frightened him. Fear flickered through his cobalt eyes as he considered the proposition. What sort of self-respecting scientist went on adventures to skies knew where with a gryphon and a...a djinn? His gaze followed the blue figure as it descended into the courtyard.

The mechanical bird took to him immediately. It preened it's copper feathers and whirred softly.

"Welcome." His answer came immediately. Any and every self-respecting scientist would go, not only for the information but for the necessity of finding the High Priestess. Iah'ryn slung the bag of fruit onto his shoulder and moved toward the door, mind already working through what he could and would need to take. His feet continued to carry him as he turned to speak. "If Dragoness Daystar recommended me, I don't believe I could refuse. But there are things to put in order before I do. Please, come in if you would like, or you could stay out here. You are welcome to anything in the garden."

"Thank you for the invitation," Acar said, bowing his head. "However, I am interested in your garden and I will stay out here. If Seraphina wishes to enter, I won't stop her."

The djinn surveyed the garden, looking at the mechanical bird that seemed completely in place with the variety of strange plants that he had no idea what most were. Sure, bushes, trees, vines, that was easy. Identifying what was growing on them? Not as easy most of the time.

Scout balanced on his head easily, grooming her paws and ignoring the proceedings.

Sera followed Iah'ryn to the door, her beak slightly open, scenting the air, something she did frequently when entering a new domain or meeting new people. Scent told a lot about an individual, most times, more than they were willing to tell aloud.
