"There it is. 23. Figures. But maybe we won't leave it until that late."

Harrison grinned, putting up the binoculars.

Judging the distance, he backed up, then jumped into the elevator, catching a cable and using the swing to get a good grip on the siding. He tested the weight, and turned around. His eyes had adjusted a little, but they still couldn't see much this deep into the back of the building. Still, B0nez wasn't sensing anything unusual.

"Or are you gonna stick with the stairs?"

Being on the twenty-third floor was a bit of a problem if they couldn't find a way down Rep was thinking when Harrison jumped into the elevator shaft with a cable. He could only stare as if the other man had gone mad. All it would take would be said cable snapping and their mission would come to a very abrupt end.

the fallen angel asked playfully. It was enough to steel his resolve. <> he argued bitterly, even as he grabbed the dangling cable himself.

"At least its ******** light in here." he said irritably. "Never thought you'd be the ******** one to do risky s**t."

Noting Jordan was nowhere in sight, he called back along the corridor. "Ace is going all ******** James Bond on us here. Stairs are too easy!"

"Light? I can't see s**t." Except for Rep's earring.

He gave Rep a funny look in the dark, waiting for Jordan before working his way down them. "Never thought I'd hear you lecturing me on risky s**t. And I know for a fact you've scaled ******** TItans. And the outside of buildings, minus any ropes or wires. At least the shaft's not trying to eat us."

Rep squinted at the wall in front of him in confusion. "Really? Maybe you need glasses. Cause I can see just fine."

He was still irritated at the sheer danger of their situation. "I HAD tae climb that ******** cathedral ok, there wasn't any handy dandy stairway that took me right there awright. And the titans weren't gonnae come down to my level and let me punch them."

He didn't let up on his muttering as he went down.

"You are meant to be a ******** moon, are you gonnae start taking even more death defying and unnecessary risks? How about we just climb oot oor windae tae get tae dinner every day? Mibbey we kin like, gets some wild animals and let them loose in the bedroom for danger's ******** sake."

Jordan jogged back to the elevator shaft, his eyebrows going up as he realized what was going on. "You're usually the sane one. Or, well. The cautious one, anyway." He got a hold on the cable and swung out and down to catch a hold on the side of the shaft. "Damn, it's dark in here. I should get a clip light or something for my kit."

"I am not on board with the wild animals idea," he commented. "The window's more workable."

"If I was Captain Safety I would have gotten a job as a ******** health inspector, instead of law enforcement or-" Another hop, "Military. You two just got a skewed perspective cuz I don't want to work next to giant ******** lava pits or stay in one spot while jaws the size of cargo ships are coming at me. It's a ******** elevator shaft. A normal, unhaunted one. Without zombies or pitfalls or giant blades coming out the sides."

He added for the sake of arguing, "Only if they're night-vision. It's darker than dark down there. It's the ******** living blackness."

"You ARE ******** Captain Safety." Rep snapped irritably. "You are like, the public service announcement service on twitter and its you who is always like don't do this and don't do that because why would you want to be so dangerous. And now here we are. Dangling over what you call the ******** living blackness like some kind of ******** poet." He looked down and immediately regretted doing so, his artifact enhanced night vision let him see far further than he really wanted to. He had a head for heights thanks to Tracey but that didn't mean that he didn't get the usual twist of vertigo one felt when looking down at certain doom.

"Also ******** any one of those ******** things you just jinxed us with could happen right now. We could be ******** climbing into the maw of some ******** Sarlacc and no even ******** know it." He shimmied down a little more aggressively, bumping Harrison irritably and "accidentally" with his butt.

"We could just be walking down the ******** stairs right now. But I don't know what both of you are bitching about, its ******** well lit in here, what do you even want, floodlights?"

PostPosted: Tue May 27, 2014 6:56 pm

"What the ******** is a Sarelick," Harrison said, giving him a return knock via a hip check, "You are so full of s**t. How many floors we got to go, if you can see so ******** well. What floor are we at now."

Rep internally cringed at the completely mispronunciation of the name, but he looked around anyway.

"Eighteen." he said triumphantly as if he'd deduced this fact from a combination of sharp wits and keeping track. Really it was because the number was painted in white on one of the walls, but it didn't seem like anyone else could actually see it in the supposed "darkness".

"Also its a ******** Sarlacc. Its like a huge desert a*****e, literal a*****e, with teeth."

Tracey said irritably.

"What like, some kind of gay dentata assmonster? We are not in a giant a**. Hold on."

Harrison paused in his descent to dig out his binoculars, and flipped them into night mode, scanning for the numbers he'd seen earlier.

"I'll be damned."

Harrison's snark seemed to cheer Rep up a bit, he couldn't help but laugh out loud. "I guess it's like that." he had to concede. "But I dunno if you'd be able to tell if we were in a giant a** since you cannae find your own with both hands." The grin was audible in his voice as he edged down past where Harrison was.

"I told you, it's ******** easy to see in here." he said, as he kept going.

PostPosted: Tue May 27, 2014 7:49 pm

"You're the one who oughta get your eyes checked." At least Rep was easy to keep track of. Harrison didn't wander far from the glowing point, and when he laughed, his expression literally lit up. Harrison descended, sticking close by.

"I couldn't see the floor number without using the night vision," he grumbled.

Rep did look a little concerned at this. "I could see it just fine. Like, no straining or anything, it looks lit in here, like really bright." He sought around for a light source finally and realised that there wasn't one.

Tracey, apparently done letting Rep remain oblivious, spoke up.

He raised a brow. "Apparently its because of the artifact Tracey says." he repeated. "Guess I can see in the dark better? I never ******** noticed."

He got into his stride edging downwards, on and on until the numbers started to dwindle away. "Only a few floors left." He said helpfully. "I still think we'd have been faster taking the ******** stairs."

That explained a lot. Could come in handy, too. He felt like he should have guessed, or known. In another time and place, different from Vegas, hadn't he...? But he couldn't remember. It was like a nice dream, mostly foggy except the good feelings and a few distinctive and important snapshots.

"Not even one a** monster," Harrison said.

Once they had their feet firmly planted, he yanked Rep over, then Jordan, for a kiss on the cheek each. "Not so hard, huh? Easier down than up. Let's hit the strip. Or at least some place that's got a working air conditioner."

He'd fastened his day bag to his belt for the climb, but unknotted it now, slinging it over one shoulder.

Like the thing in the desert, Jordan thought, but kept it to himself. Harrison and Rep were in a good mood, snarking back and forth, and he didn't need to remind them of too-recent horror. The news that Rep could apparently see in the dark now, courtesy of Tracey or the artifact or both, was interesting, and not a complete surprise. “That explains a few things," Jordan said lightly. “Handy. Suppose I could get one of those?"

Harrison pulled him over for a quick kiss once he'd gotten his footing, and Jordan hung on for a moment, looping his arm around Harrison's waist and pressing briefly against his side before letting go. "Easier down than up, unlike some things,"he said with a grin. "Ready to go."
