The rat stared on, blinking and looking openly confused. Why did she suddenly feel so happy and proud? And... Why was this... Cat... being so mean? "But... But cookie!" the rat whimpered. As if on command, her tail developed it's own mind to hunt loose another ginger snap from her pouch. "Everypony likes COOKIES!"

Her rump fell to the ground as everyone took off. "... Or... Maybe no one likes cookies..." She looked about ready to cry, peering around until her eyes fell over a similar expression of vibrance and purple life. She offered the cookie out to D'reighton with slightly less enthusiasm than before. "You like cookies, right?"

One moment he was alone and the next there was a mare he didn't recognize beside him. "My name is D'reighton, and I was kind of hoping to join them actually. I'm discontented with those who were in my old life you see. Its not that I like humans its what some of my family did to other azrein. It's hard to explain. I thought the point of staying away from humans was to protect azrein, and if we don't protect the azrein from ourselves what is the point?" He tried to explain to the mare.

D'rei tilted his head at the rat like pony. "Um I don't know Miss, I've never had one before." What was a cookie? Was that what she was holding?

The pale mare tilted her head one way then the other as she listened to the stallions words. Such sense he did make, but she didn't quite agree to join those that bound themselves to other beings. But that really wasn't her place to tell another what to do so right out. She blinked her eyes for a moment as she thought. Then spoke quite absolute. "Very true!" The mare grinned, fluttering her wings, "Sometimes sacrifices must be made for the greater good...whatever that is. But if that is your choice, that is your choice. I'm Avalon."

The fairy was about to continue on on some long winded speech regarding self worth and duties to family when the pony rat came up offering cookies. Instantly, her brain wiped all that she was preparing to say. There were cookies. She had to have one! Her ears spun to focus on the delicious looking things. "Ooooh~ Cookies! Take one! Take one! " she said gleefully, her wings practically buzzing as she peered towards that pouch that stored the cookies. Ooooh...did she really want all the cookies? No. That would be stealing and absolutely positvly...Okay she wanted all the cookies; she would get fat, but it would be worth it.

Then again, there was this poor deprived soul that had never had a cookie before! Priorities. "Taaaaake eeeeeeeet~ "

Concerto Dubarra

The Fruit-Loving One

Concerto, flying overhead of Lord Varian and company, almost stopped midflight. Why are there that many Azrein down there? Then came the inevitable though Maybe there's food down there? His stomach grumbled at this thought, which made him want to join whatever the gathering below was just to see if there was food.

As he started to descend, planning on landing a slight distance away from the other Azrein, he heard one of the Azrein offer "cookies." Concerto got excited, hoping this was some sort of exotic fruit he hadn't tasted yet, and landed closer to the group than he intended. He raced over to the Azrein who offered the cookies immediately after he landed. "Can I try these cookies of yours?" he asked, hoping that he would be allowed at least one, even though he'd intruded on this gathering. Just the thought of trying new food made him too excited to think about trivial things such as manners.

The rat couldn't have been more overjoyed. TWO souls to convert to the religion of the Cookietasm! She chirred and twisted to see the trio, happy to toss a cookie at Concerto, and then pushing one between D'rei's teeth so he could eat it. She sized up the fairy only briefly before happily tossing her an iced snap, too. "COOKIES! Cookies for everyhorse!" she cheered, dragging another out of her seemingly bottomless, tiny bag of cookies to toss in the air and catch, herself.

Satine

Satine flies lazily overhead as she muses over how many days it has been since she and Thallium have seen each other. They agreed that they would take a week to search themselves and figure out what they want to do with their future. A twinge of loneliness goes through her. She misses her mate. Though she will see him soon. Though she will admit their relationship is a strange one. Not only are they a odd looking couple their alignments clash. Yet they both love each other nonetheless. Ears p***k forward at the sounds coming from below. Looking down she notices that there are Azerin gathered below. Whatever is going on down there? Circling and gradually descending she soon lands gracefully on her feet. A rat, an odd looking beaked stallion and a fairy winged mare are gathered. "Pardon, but did I hear mention of cookies? And may I ask as to why there are so many Azerin gathered here today?"

Concerto Dubarra

The Fruit-Loving One

Concerto grabbed the cookie tossed at him with his beak, and ate the gingersnap. He had realized by now that it wasn't a fruit, since it seemed to be a different kind of sugar in it, but he still enjoyed the flavor. Hmmm, I can't but my hoof on how to describe it....

Concerto snapped out of his thoughts when he realized that he wasn't the only one eating one of the cookies. There was a fairy Azrein and winged, darker colored male Azrein. While talking to either of them seemed nice, talking about the cookies seemed like a better idea. He walked up to the rat-like Azrein and started asking her about the cookies.

"Do you know how to make these cookies? I would love to know how to make them. I mean, I can make pie, so this shouldn't be much harder, right? he asked her, hoping to get a recipe. After all, he didn't think that it would be that strange. He had learned from Lady Dea how to make pumpkin pie, so it wasn't strange to him for an Azrein to be able to cook.

Natli'Ana was roaming around the periphery of the castle, having not long before also been part of a group to drop her Chosen one off at the castle. It'd been a long hard journey, but satisfied that Mira would be okay for the moment, she'd set off exploring and in the hopes of running into her own lifemate and children. However, she sensed they were quite a distance away, but safe, and that made her satisfied for the moment.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a blast of pure unadulterated joy from...well, she was sure it had to come from Varian, a stallion she'd only met this last time, just before she and the others had been sent off with Mira to keep her safe. She'd felt such from the King, but it hadn't seemed as strong as this did, and as curiosity gripped her, she turned tail and made her way in the direction she'd felt it come. If anything, she had the urge to nose his bells...they made such pretty sounds...

She soon came upon quite a diverse group of azrein, and momentarily slowed down to watch them, curious what they were discussing. Least till the mention of cookies were made, at which point all hope was lost and Natli'ana came bounding over. "Coookies for everyhorse? You have snickerdoodles? My Chosen makes the best ones...granted, it's the only kind I've had so far." She reached with her nose towards the little rat-mare and nosed the bag that contained the cookies gently, sniffing the contents. "Hmm...not cinnamon-y enough for snickerdoodles..but they sure smell good!"

The rat was happy to share. She had plenty, and apparently, a direct line to a bakery's backstock of gingersnaps, or some other magick infecting her bag. She would also have been more than happy to have shared with Natli'Ana, but...

That bag was one of few things she got defensive about, at the moment, and she reacted something akin to a mare with foals when a stranger strays too close. Her tail gripped the bag at the base of it's strings to pull it away from the mare's nose, while the rat's muzzle stuffed itself between said bag and said nose, to push the latter of the two away. "My bag!" She whimpered, standing to take a step back.

The new look she turned on the other Azrein spoke of suspect, new suspicion that everyone interested in her cookies now wanted the bag they magically spawned from, the addict in her chiming up to hungrily hoard her... well, for lack of a better term in her mind, 'power source'. "... I-It's my bag. You can't have it!" Although the ratpony was too blunt of mind to remember who'd given it to her, it was special, if for no more reason than the magick that constantly fed her addiction.

Satine steps back as the ratpony grows defensive of the bag. The change of the other's mood startled her and she gives the other distance."I don't want your bag.. Though I was interested in a cookie.. but I don't think that is a very wise request to ask now.. I'm sorry if any of my actions distressed you in any way. It wasn't my intention." Though she knows it was probably the other mares actions that caused the reaction yet she feels bad for requesting a cookie when the other got upset. Unsure of what to do with herself she bows and moves to give everyone space. So why are all these azerin gathered here? She doesn't know still. Oh how curiosity is getting to her.

xVᴀʀɪᴀɴ had completely forgotten about his premonition back before he and Azreth had left the Isle; they'd gone through so much, seen too many things in the Lands Below that his memories of his time up here had grown quite hazy. But he just hadn't expected his sweet Avari to have given birth so soon! If he would've known, he and Azreth would've returned to the Isle sooner. The stallion blew out a frustrated breath -- he was mad at himself for being such a complete fool. He'd been gone when his Sparrow had needed him, and he would do all he possibly could to make it up to her. Which started by protecting these foals with everything, everything he was and would ever be.

Avari came trotting up and his ears pressed flat against his skull as she scolded him, the stallion sidestepping so he was no longer standing over the bundle of blankets. "Sparrow, no one -- no one -- will harm our children." Varian shook his head, the bells on his antlers chiming out into the evening. "Now that I'm home, I will stay by your side, and by theirs, until they're grown." He tore his gaze away from the blankets so he could meet his beloved's eyes. "Do you understand, Avari? I will not let them be harmed." As he spoke those words, his voice took on a deep, resonating quality. At that moment, he made it his Duty to protect his family above everything else. Varian could tell that Avari understood what he had just done; when the stallion gave it his word, reneging on it or failing to meet the terms he set for himself would result in his own excruciating agony, as he was the God of Duty.

"I promise you that I will Soulgaze every Azrein that even wants to set eyes on them, Little Sparrow." Varian turned his head in the direction of the gathering outside of the woods before returning his attention to his lifemate. "No one who wishes them harm will get by me." Even though of all his powers, his Soulgaze terrified him the most, he would gladly do it for the sake of his family. He let out a breath and nuzzled the little mare behind her ear, laying a wing over her back. "And no, of course I'm not upset with you. I'm mad at myself, more than anything."

He looked at the bundle of blankets once more, a small smile on his lips. "I should've been here for you, Avari. And for them. I'm so, so sorry that I failed you in that." He knew that she would forgive him; she knew as well as he that having the King as his Chosen meant that he had to do things most Azrein never had to. But that was a sorry reason for not being here when she had borne their children. The Deity closed his eyes and rested his jaw on Avari's neck in an equine embrace, letting out a soft breath smelling of alfalfa and clover. "I would love to meet them, Little Sparrow."

He would wait to bring Azreth to see them; he knew that his Chosen still made Avari wary. But he was pretty sure his lifemate understood by now that there was nothing Azreth wouldn't do for any Azrein, let alone his Bonded's Lifemate and their children. Regardless, he wanted time alone with both his mate and his offspring before any human came near them. He released Avari and pressed his wings tightly to his flanks, standing at ease, though his long, elk-like ears were on a constant swivel, listening to and assessing every sound he heard in the woods. He met Avari's gaze, and the Deity of Duty and Sacrifice couldn't help but smile. "I love you, little one."

Leaning down so she could fix one of the blankets that slipped off the head of a foal, Avari sighed, yet a smile graced her delicate features. She was sure she'd heard these very words spill from him many times before. Head lifting to watch him quietly as he continued, she found herself gently shaking her head with a light, almost sad, laugh. "You and me both know you can't make a promise like that, Varian. You're going to be called away again, and whether you come back or not is always a question." Ears flicking back briefly she drew in a breath to clear her mind of all the what-ifs that had passed through them over the time she was alone. Sometime's she'd wondered if foals were truly a blessing, she was now tied down by her family, where-as he was free to roam where she couldn't, and wouldn't follow.

The words of Duty was something she couldn't ignore completely. Carefully traversing the pile of foals to his side, she offered him a kind smile before tilting her head up to nuzzle under his chin lovingly. "You shouldn't have done that. After all, that is something you are doomed to fail at some point. Duty to your family, or not. You have a greater one to your.. bonded." Lightly pausing at that last word, she almost scowled as a gently shiver ran through her frame. As much as it pained her to admit, she understood. He could lose her with only a pain in his heart, but the bond he shared with that King ran deeper then anything she could even comprehend. Feeling something strike her deep in her gut she drew away with a frown, jealousy maybe? "A war is happening after all, and you've great things to do to aid your King." Wanting to snarl bitterly as an image of the boy riding the back of her great stallion shone bright in her mind, Avari drew away a step and scolded herself harshly with a flick of her tail. There was no reason for her to be so angry at this, they'd passed that milestone long ago. Yet the bitter feelings remained. "But that is a conversation for another time."

Stepping away from their embrace, she made a quick jump from his side to the area of space on the outer-side of her foal's small 'nest' and peered up at him for a second before down at the gathering. Where would she start? "They don't have names yet, just as me or my sisters didn't when we were so young. My mother always explained it was best this way." She explained with a nod of her head. It was to protect yourself incase anything happened in the future to them. After all, many foals are lost in her homeland. "I suppose I should go in order." She hmmed lightly before moving around in a circle to the right to reach a small blanket with a gradient of muted purple on to top that fell to an almost cream color on the bottom. Letting out a gentle huff of air as she leaned down to touch her nose to his own beige coloration, Avari smiled. Names or no names, she already felt attached. "Eldest of the bunch, I've been calling him Grand One." Back-stepping after her words, to lift her head and shake her mane out, her hoof pawing at the ground to show a brief display pride in this foal, she let out quick laugh her eyes shining. "I don't know what it is, but I sense greatness in this one. You should see him Varian. All horns and wings, his looks definitely live up to what he's called, believe me." Letting her show of pride deflate, she circled to pick out the blanket that was almost the exact opposite in coloration then the first. "Hm, he was next, stubborn little thing." Snorting lightly, she looked up at her stallion. "Stubborn like a badger, almost as fluffy as one and thinks it's his job to do the exact opposite of what's needed." Ears flicking back, she shook her mane out and looked up at him with a smile. Moving them here had been difficult enough, if Varian was to stay around he would see the hassle it was when they moved.

Moving back around to his side, she lifted her head to nose at his neck before pointing off to a smaller mass, this one was half-buried under the others making the colors harder to make out. Purple? White? Golden? Hm. "You can kind of make out her little tail, but she's your third born. She seems to be a feisty one. At least she's quick to snap at her brothers if they bother her. She'll do well in life, I'm sure of it." She reminded her of her family, perhaps she'll grow up to be as resourceful as her mother. As sour as her memory was, she was alive and safe. At least safe the last time she saw her. Eyes scanning the mess, she almost softens in appearance when her gaze lands on the blanket that's whiter then snow itself. "Fourth in line is this small boy, should have seen him, hair whiter then anything I've seen and great wings like his eldest brother. He's quiet so far, but I'm sure he'll perk up eventually. When he does I'm sure he'll be a force to be reckoned with." Smiling bright she shifted on her hooves and flicked his leg with her tail before nodding her head to another mass of purple, yet this one had streaks of gold thread woven throughout. "Then there's this little girl, she's another sweet thing that doesn't do much yet. Kind of thankful for that. She looks a fair bit like you, Varian." Bumping his shoulder with her own, she laughed in good spirits and rubs her side against him sweetly as she walks out of the small 'nest' they rested in. "Say hello, be careful though, father you may be, but you're still a strange azrein to them." Turning to watch him she gently folded her legs beneath her to lay down.

New arrivals yes. As for the cookie... it was good but he prefered food a little more..juicy. He couldn't see eating them constantly, but as a quick snack or treat, he thought maybe that would make sense. He nodded to those just arriving and wondered when he would be able to have a word with Lord Varian. It just wasn't in him to be an evil azrein, he worried what it already might have done to him, it had taken his brothers by storm..what made D'rei so different?
