Hvergelmir got to her feet as quickly as she could. There was time enough to run -- not much of it, but a few seconds. She could get a head-start, maybe be back in public view before Ate could reach her and had to give up.

Or she could press her advantage, try to incapacitate her attacker longer -- not something she'd ever done, but she'd fought quite a few youma; she could at least try. That is, if she could bring herself to try and take a swing at a human being.

Or.

Hvergelmir hiked up her skirts and made a run for it. Not to the street, but in the other direction: deeper into the alleyway. There wasn't much back there that she could use as a weapon, if she had to, but she crouched down next to the unconscious man with the battered face and began to shake him by the shoulders. "Wake up! Please wake up!"

There was no response.

Ate was preparing to attack. Hvergelmir didn't know what she might be capable of, but it was a sure bet that the page was better equipped to handle it than the injured man. She wrapped her arms around him in the seconds she had, trying to make as much of a shield of herself as possible.

Ate concentration was too far gone to see Hvergelmir move to protect the man, if anything she had forgotten he was even there such was the tantalizing conversation they had just had. She would remember him in time after she had finished with Page, or maybe he would remain buried alive alongside her. She didn’t care at the end of the day even if it was a loss of a star seed, there were always so many others.

She felt the power drum though her arms saw the sparkles (sadly she still got them as a Corrupted Senshi) begin to shine and her voice rang out to call forth the pollution of this city in a screaming rage. “RADIOACTIVE STORM WASTE ATTACK”. The casting took effect immediately as rubbish bins opened, slime shifted and smoke gathered above them. Anything with 25 meters was swept up in a cyclone above their heads, the power causing a dust filled wind to sweep though the alleyway twisting crisp packets, drink cans and anything else deem pollutive. Ate’s hair flapped around her face as she raised her hands up to the sky, the cyclones power seemed to pull itself out from her palms and up into the space above them. It was growing bigger as more disgusting things were caught in its embrace. Ate thanked her lucky stars that she lived in such a place like Destiny City, when wasn’t their rubbish and newspapers scattered across the streets? All of it within her powers grasp was pulled into the air.

And with one quick flick of her hands, she brought it down on their heads.

The space in the alleyway became a blur of flying missiles smoke and dust filled the air making it hard to breath and filth fell in heaps all around them, Ate included. She was immune to most of the affects her magic caused but falling debris would still just that and would hit her all the same so she had quickly shielded her head with her arms as she fought to see the Page being swallowed up by her precious ammunition.

The sludge was first. It fell in globs from the sky, the stench filling Hvergelmir's nose as it splattered all over her. Then the smoke swamped in, filling her lungs, and she coughed, starting to get distressed when he couldn't catch her breath -- and then the trash all began to fall.

If someone had just been standing a few feet away, pelting her with soda cans and half-rotted napkins, it might've been unpleasant. It had been unpleasant, in fact, when that had happened to Hvergelmir and Sarras during a youma fight and a crowd of people had gotten disastrously involved. But this wasn't unpleasant. This was beer bottles and worn-out shoes and someone's broken toaster and a massive amount of other junk falling from high up in the sky. It fell hard, it fell all at once, and it hurt.

Something hard and heavy clocked Hvergelmir in the back of the head, and she let out a harsh cry of pain: Hvergelmir guessed it was music to Ate's ears, if Ate could manage to hear it over the sound of crashing pollution everywhere. A few sharper things hit her in the back, though she couldn't see to identify them, but her dress offered her almost no protection from the damage. It was agonizing, and it lasted for a few long seconds: when the fall stopped, she was covered under a small layer of trash, somewhat bloody, and she was still struggling for breath, couched in heavy smoke.

Hvergelmir flailed her arms outward, trying to clear away some of the trash and force the smoke to disperse before she passed out. She was wheezing hard, hacking out harsh coughs, but it was no use. She couldn't catch her breath.

She could feel something damp trickling slowly down the side of her face. Blood, maybe -- she didn't know. She only knew she had to get free, get to air --

Hvergelmir started throwing things, trying frantically to get clear. She was dizzy and frantic; she just hoped Ate was unfortunate enough to get caught in the fallout of her own attack too, and not standing around waiting to snap Hvergelmir's neck if smoke inhalation failed to take her out.

Watching the deadly rain fall from the sky was almost hypnotic. Every piece was diverse as it fell at different speeds and different sizes. Cans, newspapers, broken shoes, smoke - there was even a funny static sound in the air as her powers tried to trap the noise pollution in its grasp but hadn’t quite succeed - not that Ate needed it. She didn’t want to deafen the poor girl she wanted to kill her. It could almost entrap a person to stare forever but Ate knew far better than to wait out in the open like this. Again she could only control so much and she had no influence over gravity or wind, it fell where it wished she could only guide it and let it go. In the respect of being hit by flying objects Ate was very much in the same boat as Hvergelmir.

Running towards the nearest wall the Senshi flattered herself against the bricks, hoping that the falling debris would hit things other than herself. Sadly she was mistaken. Rogue metal spikes, probably from some broken umbrella or the crushed spokes of a bike crashed against the wall beside her, the steel spikes ricocheting off before catching her across her bare arm. The rods ripped open long lines of pink flesh before they over flowed with blood and began pouring down and over her gloves, her voice coming out in a hiss as she ducked away quickly. She would have laughed at the irony of being hit by her own spell if it hadn’t happened so many times before. It was a known peril of the job, she could only hope that Hvergelmir was taking it much worse.

And oh yes she was.

The dark Senshi caught sight of a flailing arm, a hint of a once perfectly white dress and then stillness beneath the mound of rubbish. The two innocent souls were buried under an avalanche of filth and garbage, the stench and smoke fogging the alleyway to gagging proportions that hindered sight as well as breath. She had no idea if the Page or stranger was dead, she could have been lucky and a mental rod had smashed through the back of her head but life was never that simple. She could only hope the girl would remain buried long enough for her to set fire to it all.

“Ha ha, well that was fun! You know I could almost regret killing you, you were so beautiful, I would have kept you as my b***h but alas, a girl has to make do with what sh–OUCH!” A piece of sheet metal caught her off guard as it slammed into her leg followed shortly by a decapitated soft toy its insides crawling with god knows what before a broken plastic telephone found its way under her feet. The slowly lifting smoke made it difficult to see what was happening and for a moment Ate thought the rubbish pile was falling apart. And then a sodden black bag of rubbish hit her on the waist exploding on contact the smell of decaying food showering her from top to bottom.

The little b***h was actually throwing things.

“UGGHHHHHHH! You think that will STOP ME! You better find a knife in there Page because I am going to rip out your VOCAL CORDS!”

(Since we haven't confirmed how she will get away you have my permission to knock Ate out any time you want to escape! Or have someone help and Ate can flee! Either is fine with me <33 )

Hvergelmir did, in her blind flailing, find a knife. Unfortunately, she found it by the wrong end -- cutting her palm before dropping it abruptly and trying to move on to the next thing. The air was starting to clear, and she'd covered her mouth and nose with the long fabric at the bottom of her dress, but it was still hard to breathe and harder to see.

She could hear, though. Through the assaults on all her other senses, Hvergelmir had no trouble making out Ate's words. It felt like a fresh round of slime coating her skin. I could almost regret killing you. I would have kept you as my b***h. She reminded herself that most people who said those kinds of things didn't really mean them -- it was just for shock value, just to scare -- but that was difficult to convince herself of. Sailor Ate was terror in heels, an unreasonable, uncompromising woman bent on power and pain. If Chaos ate away at the heart of a person, it must have finished making a meal of Sailor Ate long ago.

Hvergelmir threw several more large objects away from herself as she continued to try and unbury her lower body enough to get loose, working around her aching head and her bleeding hand, now. After one of the things she threw, she heard an ugly thud from far-off -- then a second noise like something heavy falling to the ground.

"Uh -- hello?" she called. Sailor Ate was silent.

She worked herself free of the debris, still coughing every few seconds to try and clear the soot from her throat -- and when the air was clearer, she could see heaps of scattered trash, and settled upon one pile, the collapsed body of Sailor Ate, all clad in black. One of Hvergelmir's throws must've accidentally clipped her in the head or something. Was she . . . ?

Hvergelmir approached with caution, bending to check her enemy's throat for a pulse, and smearing a little of her own blood on the corrupted senshi in the process.

She had a pulse. She was just unconscious. Hvergelmir wiped her forehead with the back of a hand, relieved that she hadn't engaged in accidental manslaughter, then stepped back.

Who knew how much longer Ate would be out for. They had to hurry.

Hvergelmir scrambled back to where she'd left the unconscious man that Sailor Ate had victimized, hopping and climbing hurriedly over piles of waste to get to where he lay. Her head was swimming, and she wanted to stop for a while to regain her bearings, maybe -- but there wasn't time. She had to get the man and they had to get out of here.

"Alright, please wake up," she intoned sharply, giving him a rough shake in hopes of bringing him round. "We've gotta get going right now, please -- or I can try and carry you -- "

His battered head lolled forward limply onto her shoulder. Too limply.

Something was wrong.

"No," she whispered, leaning him back and pressing a shaking hand under his jawline to try and find a pulse. "No, no, no, no, no, please -- "

Nothing. She tried again. Maybe she was bad at finding a pulse on someone else. Maybe -- maybe her fingers were on the wrong part of his neck. She poked around again, trying elsewhere on his throat, desperate to find the soft, sure beat of a heart pumping blood.

There wasn't anything.

What had she done wrong? She'd stayed with him, hadn't she? Kept him covered, took most of the hits -- it didn't look like he'd gotten any new injuries. Hvergelmir coughed again, her throat closing up with tears this time. Was it the smoke? Had he died of smoke inhalation, because she'd covered her own mouth but not his? Why wasn't he just alive?

Hvergelmir thought she heard a noise behind her. Ate was stirring, maybe, or someone else was walking down the nearby street, going on with their day unaware that a man had just died for no purpose.

There was no time left to stay here, and no reason. What was left for Hvergelmir to do? She'd already failed at everything, absolutely everything.

She'd done no good here at all.

She ran.

It was easy to dodge the items Hvergelmir was throwing, the pathetic attempts at trying to slow her down was almost laughable but Ate had moved far past laughter now. This was no longer a fight but a soon to be massacre and despite what she said or did she simply didn’t enjoy the challenge of an easy win. Yet it was better to put the girl out of her misery than let her escape, it was just a shame she couldn’t slam her fist into her chest and abuse that starseed - she had yet to pick up that helpful little trick. Yet to end another one of Order’s minions was enough to keep her sated for now. She smiled as she pulled her shoulder back to miss a flying shoe, its sole flapping in the wind, now that was funny. Her mouth formed a shape to shout something out when Hvergelmir picked upon something the corrupted senshi hadn’t expected her find in her garbage tome let alone be able to grab purchase and throw.

The flat screen computer monitor, cracked and battered, flew across the alleyway like a spinning top its weight catching her on the hip. The impact sending off balance she felt her foot sliding across some unknown substance between floor and rubbish, her heel twisting as she tried to catch herself. She would have been fine if she had just fallen slightly to the left but as fate, as it so often is, chose a different path and she fell sideways smashing her head against the back of a broken oven door. She tried to fight the darkness that threatened to consume her but in the end it didn’t have to push that hard until unconsciousness enveloped her whole.

She didn’t even get to see the Page run away in fear.
