Coral had been so focused on her destination that she had passed the stallion that hailed her, before she registered that he was talking to her! Happily, she slowed down and doubled back to the gray and green stallion. She smiled warmly in response to his welcome, excited at the possibility of company. Really, she was always excited...

"Hello! Yes, it is actually!" Her grin never wavered as she dived into her explanation. "I've missed it before! Usually by the time I'd heard about it, it was over. Not this time!" She nodded her head in a definitive way, a mock serious expression playing on her face. "I very diligently followed the rumors to find out when it would be, and now, my collecting and listening have payed off!" An excited giggle escaped her as she slightly curled up in joy. She straightened back up and peered at the other curiously. "My name is Precious Coral, but I prefer Coral, if you'd like." Another smile, really, she was full of them! "And whats your name?"

Nodding as Keeva turned toward the children, George followed Flurry's gaze to the necklace, and then let his eyes travel over the other seathi's body, looking for anything he might give up in return. "Unless you're about to give up Nerida or want to wander with your hair as long as Keeva's, I don't think you have anything to offer," George said warily. The silver-and-sapphire was the finest of his shipwreck treasures, and he'd been hoping to take it ashore to trade away if it caught no one's interest today. But, alas, it appeared that he had caught the attention of one of the last people he wanted to trade to - the Outskirts. Not that he wouldn't trade to Flurry, oh no, it wasn't that. It was more that he owed nearly every single one of them something, and if they all came calling, his hoard would be reduced by half.

"Unless you want to cash in on an I-owe-you." He left it hanging there, ominous, daring him to take the offer. Thankfully, Keeva was distracting the kids, so if Flurry did take the offer... Well, it would save him some embarrassment of parting with his best treasure for a favor.

Recoiling in disgust at George's assessment of his meager treasures - his starfish and his hair tie - Flurry shook his head. "No, no, I would never be separated from Nerida." It was a special bond they had, the seathi and the starfish; George himself knew - he had Baby. But George was just trying to shake him off. Looking over to make sure Keeva was occupied, Flurry leaned closer. He had just seconds before the little ones returned their attention to them; they were quick like that.

"Put it away somewhere safe," Flurry said, "It's a secret gift."

And then the little ones were on him, and he chuckled a little at Teagan. "I think I just answered the question, love. You've got bit longer to go, I think. Maybe a few seasons?" It was definitely the opposite of what she wanted to hear, but he could not lie to her; the little filly had such honesty and candidacy that she caught everything with a question.

George tilted his head a little as Flurry turned away to tend to the children, but did as he asked, scooping the silver chain around one leg and setting it carefully behind a rock, out of sight from prying eyes. A secret gift? Who would it be for? One of his healer friends? George wasn't acquainted with anyone aside from Keeva, and he didn't think Flurry was interested in anyone... Perhaps it was a gift for one of the small ones for after their coming-of-age ceremonies? It would be for Teagan, then, but there was a gold-and-emerald that fit her colors far better, and Flurry was always conscious of that sort of thing.

So who would go well with a silver-and-sapphire? The question stumped him. Shrugging his shoulders, he looked around. More people were trickling in, but with four already holding court outside his station, he didn't have room to hail the beautiful gold and amethyst mer mare he saw sliding by... I'll have to track her down later.

He can track her down after the trading disperses if you want, if she's still around?

As Keeva turned to him, Eoin blushed a hot red under his markings and was thankful it wouldn't show. "Yes, Eoin." Well, that was a dumb thing to say. Yes, Eoin? He must sound like a little baby. And she was so nice... "And 'sokay," he murmured, but at her question about Teagan, he perked right up and accidentally fwapped his sister with a tail fin in his haste to get words out, his whole body moving with the enthusiasm behind them, bobbing in the water. "Yeah, this is Barna-- Uh, I mean, my Teagan. My sister." He grinned. Finally, he'd said something more than two words to Keeva while she was fully conscious! The accomplishment lit him up like a little patch of luminescent algae. Still grinning, he looked back between Keeva and his sister, hoping he wouldn't get retaliation for poking her.

As Flurry reiterated himself, Eoin's smile dimmed a little bit. Seasons? He hadn't even seen a full one of those yet! "I wanna grow up now," he mumbled, leaning into Teagan with a shoulder. "Want to go explore the stations? We could take Keeva with us." It was like half a whisper to his sister, and he didn't even think to ask Keeva if she wanted to go until after he said it. Turning to the mare, he said, "If you want to, I mean." His eyes were big imploring ones, golden shiny orbs. "Please?"

Keeva nodded at Teagan. "It's very nice to meet you as well." she watched their attention flip back to Flurry and only just noticed George putting something behind a rock. She wondered what, if anything Flurry had given the other seathi but shook her head. It wasn't her business, and she figured that it was safer around here not to pry over much in the dealings of others.

She chuckled a bit at the foals insistence that they grow up now. It always seemed the way with the little ones. Always in a rush to get big and then spend the rest of their days wishing they were younger. She was a little surprised when the little foals suddenly turned back on her and asked her to go with them around to the other stations. "I'd love to go, as long as your father says it's alright." she said glancing over at Flurry. She didn't know exactly what he had planned and didn't exactly want to tread on any tail fins here. Although if he had things to do she figured she was more than capable of wrangling two foals, it wasn't like they could out swim her so no danger of trouble that way.

Listening intently - and concentrating on listening intently, for once - Odhrán found himself caught up in Coral's expressions and speech. Lively for a seathi, yes she certainly was. It was nice to be around someone so enthused, he decided, instead of glooming and brooding all the time. He nodded as she spoke. "It really can be hard to pinpoint if you're not a part of the Grail. You're not, I assume? Are you a neighbor or a friend of the herd?" She'd piqued his curiosity. He'd never seen her rush into the reef, thoroughly seething that someone had made off with her treasure (which apparently she had a lot of, judging by the net), and he saw their angry visitors far too often... Usually because he was the instigator. Maybe I'm a little too wild sometimes...

"I'm Odhrán," he replied, pronouncing it O'Ron, just as he had his entire life. "But most call me Ronnie. Do you have something to trade? Might be we could forge a bond of friendship with a little bartering." His showman's smile wasn't just a showman's smile anymore - her giddiness had rubbed off on him, and for the first time in months, he was... happy? Maybe that was a stretch. Entertained, at the very least, which was unusual, considering that Tesni was missing. Prodding his treasures with his hooves once more, he leaned over them. "I've got shipwreck treasure, sea treasure, land treasure, and treasure that doesn't quite fit in to a category." As he listed each off, he pointed at it with his little white hooves: the shipwreck treasure was a wooden box, inlaid and enameled, spilling over with metal chains and jewels; the sea treasure was a collection of carefully picked shells, including a shiny pink-and-cream conch; the land treasure was a set of a few beaded bracelets and carefully wrought hairpieces, made by the Kawani and a few hippogryphs; and lastly, the uncategorized treasure were bits and bobs, hunks of rock in interesting formations, glass, chunks of metal. I might be too wild sometimes, but I always need more.

He was rather far from his herdlands, well, not that far as for a beast as big as he was under the vast sea the ocean bay which so many of his aquatic soquilian brethren called home seemed like but a hour's trip or so. He's began his day trip at the break of dawn, before too many of his herdmates even awoke from their slumber. He'd headed to the main pond via canals to inform Ikinya that he would be gone for the day if he was needed, they'd be out of luck till he returned. It was with excitement that he was nearing the location he'd caught in the streamline, a favorable and exciting topic for the undersea life.

With him was his trusty new friend, a familiar lobster he so lovingly named Lil'Homie. Or Lil' for short, as she was a girl, after all.

As the light from above made his fins and of course his 'bling' come to life in sparkles, he could see a gathering ahead. This must have been the place. "Alright, Lil', be on the lookout for some radical bling." He smirked to the little lobster, noting he was already the largest here - but it did seem a few other mer's had come. On his largest chain was a bag tied securely to it, luckily having stayed on during the trip. "Shall we divide and conquer?"

User Image

"It looks like it..." Lil' breathed out, rather dizzy from holding on via one of J's numerous chains for dear life. Honestly she was shocked to have arrived in one piece. As the little lobster looked around she could see many creatures here, and didn't really trust that J would remember her if he found what he was looking for and in his excitement headed home without her. While he was a good guy, she could tell, he seemed to lack a rather good memory when he got excited. Not to mention he had said he received a good blow to the head a long time ago...so he often had bouts of memory loss all together.

"I...think we should stay together. I'll look around from here." She said kindly to her new friend. "Besides, you'll need someone to untie your trade here if you find something you like."

Teagan giggled at the way Eoin seemed to get bashful for a moment. He was probably totally blushing. She flicked her tail to bat at him in her amusement. And then his fin was returning her own thwapping and the filly wrinkled her nose before giggling again. Well, at least until she heard what Eoin almost called her. "S'what I said!" She added, laughing at her brother. The narwhal. Then ducking her head a little shyly herself as Keeva responded. "S'nice to meet you too."

She didn't like Uncle Flurry's answer. Seasons? More than one?! The foals expression sank briefly, the impact of how much longer she and her siblings would have to wait looking like it would never happen. And then she shook herself as that was shoved - thankfully - to the back of her mind as Eoin leaned against her and said something about exploring. That was all it took. "YES! Yesyesyessss! Les go exploring with Keeva!" Where Eoin had kept his voice semi-low, Teagan was loud. She paddled right up to Keeva, little hooves being placed on her as the filly looked up at her with bright eyes. "Pleaseeeee Keeva?!"

"Daddy! Daaaaaaddy! Can we goes explorin' with Keeva? Please?!" Teagan glanced back over at George. He would trade items and be busy to play with them. But they could take Keeva, right? Besides, there were others starting to arrive and look at the 'stalls' set up for the day. Which meant more things for her and Eoin to drool over!

The little coral colored mare shook her head in response, eyes bright with curiosity and wonder. "Oh, no. I have a bit of a...cave." She looked out in the distance. "I sort of made it. It took a while, and a bit of...well a lot of digging." She giggled, remembering how much of a messy job it had been. "But when you want something just right....its easier to do it yourself."

"Oh, What a fun name! I do like it." Coral could see her mood was infectious, and the feeling just made her that much more excited as she peered out over his collection of baubles. A colorful necklace beaded with shells caught her eye and she could only imagine how it would rest against her throat. "Oh my sea stars! What a lovely necklace!" She bent closer to inspect its opalescent sheen, growing even more in love with it by the second. She opened up her bag and peered inside before sticking her nose in and puling out what she thought might be a good trade. She offered him a sparkling glass...well she wasn't entirely sure what it was. But it sparkled and caught the light, and had a very pleasant shape to it.

Quick OoC Announcement!
I've extended Phase One: Underwater to June 15 so we can finish our underwater interactions before the Traders head for shore. Your soquili are welcome to stay underwater and keep trading amongst themselves, but some of them will leave to search out others to trade with on land.

Phase Two: Ashore will open for posting on June 15 at 6 PM PST (or PDT or whatever it is at the moment >.>). At that time, you are welcome to post that your soquili is waiting on shore to meet the Traders, and Traders may leave the Grail to go find others to trade with.

Turning his attention from the gorgeous mare as she passed by, George refocused on his foals. One minute, they were asking Flurry when they would grow up, and the next, they were asking Keeva if she wanted to go see the treasure with them. They'll distract their robbery victims by talking them out of their treasures. The thought made him chuckle, but then Keeva turned to him and asked permission to go. "Of course!" he replied. "Just keep an eye on them and make sure they don't take anything..." He eyed the pair of little ones. "...because it would set back their ceremony dates." Though George wasn't sure that was really the case - foals taking things within the herd was so unheard of that it was probably hushed up when it happened - he wasn't about to risk them trying it. He would push back their ceremony dates himself to discipline them if he had to negotiate with a herdmate about them filching something. And if the Matriarch caught wind of it... Well, he wasn't about to risk them being exiled at a Trading Day if the punishment for stealing from a herd member applied to foals, as well. "Be good," he told the pair of them sternly (as sternly as he could manage while looking into the two sets of staring golden eyes), and then nodded to Keeva. "Off with you, then!" He grinned at the three of them and turned back to Flurry.

"Maybe you should go, too? I'm sure there are a few others you could relieve of their treasures for secret gifts." He said it a little nastily - after all, he couldn't have Flurry watching him while he went to chase down that mare.

"Yay, Keeva's going with us," Eoin practically shouted, his volume going way up in his enthusiasm. He could practically feel the eyes of the others on him as he shrank down, bashful once more. And then Keeva mentioned needing their father's permission, and Eoin put on his puppy eyes... And then they had permission! "Yay!" he said again, twitching in his excitement. He barely heard the warning not to take stuff, but that was a given - it was forbidden, an implicit and explicit rule in the Grail. Poking Teagan with his tail, he hooked a foreleg over Keeva's. "Where should we go first? Should we go see Uncle Ronnie?" There was a little pink-and-red mare over there, but Ronnie's station was sprawled out - he had so much treasure! Surely they could all fit in there. "What do you think, hm, hm?" Eoin looked from Teagan to Keeva and back again.

Flurry tilted his head and didn't know whether to be offended or not at George's suggestion, but tried to take it as an opportunity to spend time with the little ones. "If you insist," he said, frowning, and then put on a smile for Keeva, Teagan, and Eoin. "Wait up, everybody, I'm coming along, too." He flipped his long tail fin and paused at Keeva's shoulder, looking down a little at the foals. "Where are we off to?" He knew Teagan would probably make the decision, unless Keeva spoke up - Teagan had always been the powerhouse of the three, as far as he could tell.

With the four of them sufficiently distracted, George waited a moment for them to set off before taking off after the mare he'd seen earlier. Tail curling and uncurling, he sidled up to her as she paused, hoping to catch her attention. He was nearly as bright as she was, after all. "Hello there," he purred, putting on a little smile and showing his bright white teeth. "How may I help you this fine, fine day?"

Odhrán chuckled along with her as she giggled, amazed that she'd managed to dig herself a cave. "I'd expect to see some more muscle on you," he replied. But she looked just like another seathi to him. Granted, the ones he'd grown up with and come to know were stealthy athletes, wiry with muscles and many of them scarred... But that was beside the point. "Thank you," he said as she mentioned his name, and then observed her as she poured over the treasure he'd spread out in front of him. It'd taken him all morning and part of last night to haul the whole of it up here - and he'd had to do it by himself, since he'd separated from the nucleus of George's pod. He had no little foals to help him pull one treasure at a time up from beneath the coral, where he kept his hoard; instead, he'd had Tesni's help, and while she was a mer, she still needed sleep... And he didn't sleep much anymore, so he'd done most of it by himself, in the dark of night when the reef was lit only by the moon and stars.

As he watched, she seemed to gaze at one in particular for a moment, a little necklace of shells. And then she stuck her nose in her net-satchel, and pulled out something... A crystal? It looked like a crystal, sending off rainbows through the water from its facets as she gripped it between her teeth. Gesturing, he asked her to set it down on the little platform he'd rigged up, a waterlogged plank from a shipwreck. He used the platform specifically for checking out prospective trades. Prodding the little glass gem carefully, he couldn't help a grin as it threw more rainbows. If he wasn't careful, he'd blind himself, but it was so entertaining! Nodding, he said, "We have a deal." He could always get more shells, after all, but this little teardrop-shaped crystal was a unique find. "It's beautiful. Where did you find it, if I may ask?"

Her enthusiasm was a match to her brother's as they got the 'Okay' from dad. "Yaaaay!" Teagan happily patted at Keeva with her little hooves in excitement, grinning at George for a moment. Daddy had totally just made their day, obviously. The fact he'd mentioned keeping an 'eye' on them, so they didn't 'steal' completely went in one ear and out the other. Not that she would ever do that to someone of the Grail! That was baaaad. Very bad. Her little nose wrinkled as Eoin poked her and she focused again on Keeva.

"Oh yes! We's should introduce Keeva ta Uncle Ronnie!" She beamed, nodding her head. "Maybe he's got some cool treasure." He had a huge stash of things too. Teagan totally dreamed of having as much as Uncle Ronnie one day. And more! Speaking of Uncle's... Flurry was coming too?! "We're gonna go see Uncle Ronnie!" She paused, glancing at Eoin to make sure this was right.

At receiving the parental blessing and attention turned back to her, Keeva smiled at the little ones and started to move off with them. She turned as Flurry came up to her shoulder and she smiled at him then frowned slightly. "Is something wrong?" she asked quietly not wanting to draw to much attention to the fact that something might off with the foals uncle.

She looked back to the little ones and nodded. "Where ever is fine." she said following their lead towards the other stalls. "I'm happy to take you where ever you want to go. Within reason!" she added quickly. She certainly wasn't going to take the little ones out into open water. She still wasn't comfortable herself leaving the safety of the colony, even though she was going to have to soon, there were remedies that needed making and ingredents that could only be found in open water.
