"So I see... Hehe." Lumine went to sit someplace - away from the statuettes, innocently. "Hateshi said you know a lot about the surface! And it looks like she was right... you collect stuff, don't you?" She said, pointing to some of the strange-looking artifacts around the room. "I'm really interested about it, and Hateshi said you were the best person to ask about this stuff, so... here we are! Oh, I'm Lumine by the way!"

"Lumine... Lumine... Ah took you longer than other times to pick it! The average was 1.2 days..." The seer would mumble to herself, turning to look about her collection,"The surface? That is as dull as heaven or hell. They all have constants that rule it. So what you get to know will depend on what and how you ask whatever you believe to be your variable." At that she looked over her shoulder mischievously at Lumine, " Besides is Hateshi not the better candidate to speak of the surface? She did not tell you, did she? Her shifts consist of watching a bridge to a deity's shrine day and night. However, she has met many people through the job! I suspect her to know more than me in some subjects!"
Hateshi threw the Seer a glare, crossing her arms under her chest stubbornly,"I know of the tengu, thanks to a close .... Friend, who has provided me with company on said long shifts." "I meant more that you stay on the surface more than I do!" "You said it yourself. I watch a bridge. That is all I see."
The seer rolled her eyes, then made a "yap yap" gesture with her hand. "Well, what is it you wished to know, Lumine? Remember the right question earns you the right response!"

Wow, this seer lady was a lot more batty than Lumine had thought. It was a little hard to figure out exactly what she was getting at. "How can you say that?" Lumine began, flailing her arms about in protest. "The surface is way more interesting than stuff here! Like, there's actually dangerous and exciting stuff!-- Wait, what did you mean that it 'took me longer to pick'? Actually, never mind - don't change the subject!" Lumine had begun to pace back and forth in the room, a hand to her chin in thought. "So Hateshi guards a bridge..? That doesn't sound very interesting at all, but maybe one of these days I can come with you? I won't cause any trouble I promise, and then I could see the surface world for myself! Maybe even meet things tengy people you mentioned!"
Full of excitement and hope, the young Celestial bounced into view before Hateshi, beaming grin on her features. "So come on! You gotta let me come, pleeease! Just once! O-Or maybe more than once...!"

The two celestials watched her pace about, and Hateshi did jump a bit when Lumine came right into her view. "If you wish to see the world of the surface you news to be a worker of Kami, Like I am... You will need to train for a year or so, then you end a free pass for unlimited visits. Its an arduous job with long hours but your free time is all yours." Hateshi crossed her arms. "Its not that hard! The celestial envoys hardly bother with the people below! If the demons don't over step their lines then heaven doesn't either!" The seer offered, earning another glare from the soldier, "The training is difficult, but hey, its worth it!"
"If you want to try it, I will move strings and speak to Kami, Lumine," the taller celestial said," But you have to promise to try your best."

"Yes! Yes, I want to do this! And I promise to try my very, very best!" Lumine said, a spark of determination flashing in her clear blue eyes. "I don't care how long it takes, I'll work hard and... I'll make you proud!" She turned to the Seer, "Both of you! Besides, what's time to someone who's immortal?" Smiling brightly, if a little arrogantly, Lumine added, "A year will fly by in no time, right?"

"If you are sure Lumine." Hateshi chuckled watching the celestial jump around in her excited manner. The seer busied herself following her with her eyes, before smiling as well. "I will do as I promised and speak with Kami to write you on the list as a new recruit." Hateshi turned to leave, not bothering to ask if Lumine would follow or not, she was safe after all.
The seer giggled a bit. "Always acting stoic, that Hateshi~" She then moved behind some shelves,"Do your best now, its only a year~~"

"Y.. Yes! Just a year!" Lumine snapped to attention in a very unprofessional manner and saluted the Seer. "Ah-- I should go after her, right?" Not waiting for a response, the eager Celestial bolted out of the door. "BYE!! --Hateshi wait uuuup!"
And so, Lumine Mayflower was assigned into a position within the higher guardians of Bhavagra, apprenticed to Hateshi. For the better part of a year, she spent studying basic forms of magic as well as receiving combat training from Hateshi herself. While her swordplay left something to be desired, her raw magical potential augmented even simple spells with devastating results. This resulted in a number of injuries to herself, and an even greater number to walls. The poor, poor broken walls. What time she didn't spend studying, Lumine likely spent repairing whatever she broke that week. So there's that. All in all it was a very productive year for the forever-young Celestial, and for the sake of convenience will be left up to the audience's imagination.
"Hateshiiiii!" Lumine called out to her mentor, approaching her from behind. She was carrying a small tome with her - a boon to help stabilize her otherwise unwieldly magic reserves. "Hateshi, I'll be going on a mission with you soon, right? My training should almost be up, right, right?" She smiled brightly, "I can't wait! I'll finally get to leave Bhavagra and see the surface world! Oh it must be so interesting, I'll never want to come back! Hehe~"

"Yes, today, you will be speaking to Kami herself." Hateshi walked down the hall of the Kami manor in Bhavagra. "This is your graduation in a sense. So speak well to kami, who will be knighting you, after that, we will go to the armory and picking out your weapons to have it blessed. Then we can speak of going down to earth."
"Don't get your hopes too high up, remember our duty is to watch and aid the workers of heaven and keep the envoys of hell behind their line." she stood in front of a large set of doors. Hateshi stopped, turned around and started to try and make Lumine look nice. She attempted to fix her hair, tuck her shirt in, fix her collar and straightened her trainee sword out at her hip. "Answer her questions truthfully, remember to bow when you come in. If you lie she will know, so just be yourself. She will be judging your aptitude for the position."
Done with pruning Lumine, she put her hands on the younger celestial's shoulders,"Good luck, I believe in you." With that she moved aside to let her open the doors when she was ready.

Lumine paid close attention to Hateshi's instructions, for once standing perfectly still while the older girl futzed with her appearance. Lumine never really paid much attention to the details, but she'd live with it for once! Anything to make a good first impression. "I understand! I'll do well, you'll see!" She said reassuringly, although the reassurance was mainly meant for herself. All of her hard work and effort put into achieving a position like Hateshi's rested on the events of today...
She took a deep breath as she turned to look at the gates, beyond which lie the Kami Manor. It was one of the most extravagant buildings in the upper echelons of Bhavagra - fitting for one of such high position, one who answered to the highest order of beings, those unreachable by any tangible mortal or even Celestial methods.
Enough stalling. Lumine took a step forward and pushed through the gates, and began the long trek across pure white marble, up the grand steps lined with crimson silks and into the main hall. At the end of the hall were the offices of Kami, where she'd likely find the woman in question. She approached them graciously and stopped where the red fabric ended, and awaited Kami to summon her.

"Come In."
The one sitting at the throne like chair. She was leaned back, watching as one of her workers bowed to her and left the room, walking by Lumine and closing the door slowly. The one sitting had white hair, and a scar over her left eyes. She looked onto Lumine, sitting fully and leaning forward,"You must be Hateshi's latest student, Lumine Mayflower was it? Please do comes forward and sit." She pointed to a small stool like chair infront of her own throne.

Lumine nodded and approached Kami, going to sit on the stool as she was instructed. She set her tome in her lap and crossed her hands over it neatly, feet planted and knees together. She looked at Kami, ever so slightly fidgeting where she sat. "H-Hello, miss Kami," the Celestial began, "Yes, my name i-is Lumine... Lumine Mayflower. It, it's a pleasure to meet you!" Lumine offered the woman another bow of her head before straightening herself. "Hateshi said that I've completed my training! I... I would like to join her in her missions! Become an emissary, and travel to the surface world... Please, I've worked very hard this past year, a-and... (y, yeah...)" She trailed off a little nervously, then awaited Kami's judgement.

"Why is it exactly you want to do what Hateshi does?" Kami asked, with a quiet smile." The worker of an emissary is ardous and difficult. Your training will seem like a walk around Bhavagra once you start facing the missions we tend to handle. You have to be strong of mind just as strong of body, lest you risk a possession, or removal from the circle of Samara." The overlord of Bhavagra stood," There is also things worse than death, though to be working with those you must work more than your teachers have."
"So, tell me, what brings you to want to visit the world of the living so zealously?"

"I... Because I find it very interesting!" Lumine replied, answering truthfully. "More interesting than Bhavagra! And... b-because I don't like Bhavagra very much..." She winced while saying that last part. Hateshi had told her to be honest, and that was the honest truth. She didn't like Bhavagra, anything about it really. And everything about the lower realm seemed so much more inviting than the cold perfection Heaven had to offer.
"I'm prepared to face whatever trials lay ahead... I believe I'm ready for whatever comes! A-And even if I'm not, I'll still give it my best and find a way to succeed! If it means getting to see the world below, I... I would risk anything!" Lumine closed her eyes, sweat dripping down her forehead. What would Kami say to all this? What if she screwed up and failed, and would never be allowed to become an Emissary or to see the lower world? Lumine held her breath, waiting for Kami to speak.

"Is that it? Do you dislike heaven that much?" Kami stood, moving down the stairs to stand before Lumine. Upon closer inspection it seemed she had a similar disorder to Hateshi: an eye was a dead white-gray the one under between the scar, while the other was a sky-blue, like Lumine's. "If you dislike it , how am I to trust you with its protection?"
"Like heaven and hell, the feeling of belonging to one or the other gets old. In the same manner, belonging to the earth gets old. Humans transcend lives so quickly for precisely that reason," Kami turned to peer to her throne," They are not capable of hold a life for more than seventy years without boring themselves. I fear you suffer a similar delusion." Again, the overlord turned to Lumine," You say you want to do your best, but what is being an emissary to you? What does an emissary do, and how? Saying you will do your best has no ring with no purpose. Like ringing a bell with no central piece, or attempting to roll a wheel-barrow with no wheel."
"Warriors are at their strongest when their is a purpose: to protect those they love from harm or death. But as a celestial you face a dilemma- Pain and death are not a threat. Neither is the lose of a loved one," Kami walked up the stairs and sat upon her chair again," If your purpose is to explore and enjoy the surface's adventures, then I am sorry, but there is no way I will allow you to indulge in that. Humans stay on earth, celestials in Bhavagra."
"While I see potential in you, just as Hateshi, I think you may be lacking your purpose to being a guard: other than your curiosity to explore"

'Neither is the loss of a loved one.', was what stung the most out of Kami's words. It was true, achingly so, and it was something that Lumine had kept to herself, even as she had grown closer to Hateshi in her year of training. Despite finding a sort of kinship with older Celestial, Lumine continued to feel very much alone in this place called Heaven. Whether she wanted to realize it or not, that was likely her most driving factor in wanting to explore outside Bhavagra's boundaries, simply in search of someplace she felt she belonged.
"That... that is why I want to see what the surface has to offer. I don't have a purpose here in Bhavagra - I never will!" Lumine stood from her stool to meet Kami levelly. "No matter what I do, I will never feel like I belong here, never feel welcome or important, because I have nothing to lose. I have nothing to hold dear and to call my own. I'll never be happy. But isn't that why Heaven exists?" Lumine lowered her gaze, staring at the ground. "When I read about Heaven in the library - what humans had written about it - it was always portrayed as this place that could make your pain and your suffering disappear, and to bring peace to good, weary souls. But... I won't ever find my peace here. If I was really given the opportunity to ascend and live out my days as a Celestial, then shouldn't I be allowed to be happy?"
"Perhaps I don't know what it truly means to be an emissary, but I won't ever learn if I stay here! I'll never find that purpose you want me to have if I stay here! If you see potential in me like you say, then can you not give me a chance? I would be under Hateshi's rule, it's not like I could really get into trouble...!" By now, Lumine's fists were clenched in determination, but she had run out of things to say. This was likely the most truthfully she had spoken to anyone. Her heart was now laid out to bear...
