For a time after her departure, Astarte wandered through the dark in search of some sign of the nearby power plant in charge of supplying electricity to the majority of the city. She discovered that, as she drew near to its location, a heady presentation of Negaverse energies assailed her senses, and it very nearly whisked her breath away. Was the lot of them present to figure out why in blazes the power went out, or had they some other odd scheme up their sleeves?

As she sought higher ground, somewhere buried within the chaotic energies was a handful of familiar, less toxic auras to guide her toward senshi of similar affiliation. As she closed in behind the group, Astarte cocked an eyebrow at the plaza below. "Anyone got any idear what the lot of them are doing down there? I can't make out a bloody thing from this distance... Looks like they're just milling about as always. Should we skirt around 'em and check out the power plant? I don't know about all of you, but I've got little interest in toying about with these wankers when I could get my power turned on instead."

Afterward she looked toward the few present, expecting an answer. She stood with arms akimbo, the epitome of flippancy on such an occasion.

A power outage? No ******** way. Just great. Just .... really effing A great... She stood in a dark kitchen looking at her counter full of everything as she was just getting ready to mix up a killer bowl of batter for the next delectable thing she was up to. She had stomped out to the front room to find out if her father had been trying to plug too many things into an outlet again. After nearly fifteen minutes of arguing with her parents that surely maybe they just did something to cause the power to trip; she sighed in defeat. Ok. If it wasn't just their house, maybe it was more people on their block. When she went outside to see, she in fact found lots of neighbors mulling about on their lawns in small groups to compare notes on what they were doing just when the lights and everything went out. Instead of joining any of the groups, Cherry chose to loiter just outside several listening in on what they all had to say.

Apparently, this was a big deal. She heard a few people say before the power went out, there was a news report about some fires. She stood there debating if she should go back home to inform her folks about what was going on, but she decided she didn't know enough about what was going on to feel good about doing that. Also, she detested the idea of hanging out with her parents for long stretches of time with nothing to do. Heavens help her; she loved her parents, but she found it often a lonely experience being an only child. She always felt like the odd grown up out, even as a young child. She walked down the street towards a main road with arms crossed determined to find anything else to do but sit in a dark house with her folks with nothing to do but talk about what she'd been up to.

Cherry was always up to plenty, and none of them were things she wanted her parents to know. She finally walked down to a main road and looked about. Cherry's arms slipped apart from their petulant posture as she felt surprised to see the blackness stretching on for as far as she could see. In this darkness, it was hard to see very far. "Damn... should have brought a flashlight.. or a lighter... or.. something..."

She decided to walk the familiar route towards the coffee shop where she worked. Taking her time, she still floated and roamed like a satellite around other clumps of people to see what she could gather about all this. In the distance, it seemed at times like there were shadows of people running around. Wasn't that curious?

Then, her memory awoke. She recalled talking with a young lady at the mall one day. Being asked her opinion on the terrorists, she stuck to her ostrich with head in the sand. She refused to see the crazy things that happened more and more in their town. She felt if she ignored it; it was like it never happened. It wasn't anything that effected her, so ... so what? Was ... this... was...

She walked on alone in the dark trying to stay close to groups of people, but she found clusters of folks thinning the further she got from the neighborhood and closer to campus and businesses. She stood at a street corner looking up at an intersection traffic light that was out. To keep going or to turn around and go back home; she stood there a while deciding.

Then, oddly.... she just stood there quietly humming "The Freaks Come Out at Night" song to herself.

The power was out.

Ellie had taken it as an evening off, until a certain cat had informed her of something.

"...it seems as if there is a large gathering of Negaversers... with more and more auras filtering in... we should probably investigate..."

The blonde groaned as she managed to find her way in the dark to Annie's room and knocking. "...Dude... we're goin' out on a patrol..." was the explanation she gave. It probably beat sitting around in the dark doing next to nothing.

________________________________

Once the duo had powered up, Iris was quick to send out a message to any other teammates with her phone.

"Looks like something big is happening downtown. If you are available, head there, we'll meet up there!"

The manx easily took up a spot on Psyche's shoulder as they approached the area.

In an effort to strike up conversation, the eternal senshi asked "So... ya think th'Negaverse caused th'blackout then?"

Despite her suspicions, ********* at least attempted to remain neutral. "There's a chance it was them, and there's a chance this was merely a coincidence..." There was a pause as she gave it a quick thinking over before she broke her neutrality "...but considering the direction we are heading, more and more evidence is pointing towards the Negaverse."

Jarosite landed heavily from the roof some blocks from the fountain. Before his coat had even stopped moving the Captain was up and moving. He flitted behind a group of civilians and drained from the lot of them, pocketing the orb in his pocket. Before they realized what was happening, he was on the move again and coming around one of the corners into the courtyard.

He found Avalon rather quickly, even though he'd never met her before. The broken Earth knight symbols were a dead giveaway. He saluted the general and gave her the energy he'd collected on his way in.

"Capt. Jarosite, Squad Leader. I'm your protector for this evening. " He took up shop next to her, spinning his blades for a moment before falling into an easy stance. He wasn't a great meat shield, but he'd do his best.

Benitoite stood atop the power plants main building like a overlord of sorts, standing there above everything watching and sensing all that was around them. He could sense those of chaos like beacons of darkness, friendly and familiar, as their signatures each lit up in his mind like stars lit up the night sky. With the city lights all out the stars that shown were in great number than usual, all the ambient light keeping them hidden normally, it was an amazing sight but one which went unnoticed by the General who stood regal and calm even as the signatures of order started to pop up on his mental radar.

"They're coming." He whispered into the wind as he turned his head in the direction of the first order signature he picked up. He wasn't down with those collecting energy, though he would be if called upon. He was up here to sense things and come down if needed.

He knew reinforcements were due soon in the form of Buddingtonite's team and he hoped they arrived soon and in good health. His own communicator was out and the crystal held down at his side in one gloved hand, waiting for when he would need to use it or for when he was called into action. In his own hand hung his weapon, waiting to spill the blood of senshi and knight alike. This plan of Bischofite's would be seen to it's end if he had to spin a river of blood to assure it he would do so with pleasure, it wasn't like anyone important would be dying - right?

The thoughts of senshi and knight blood spilled slowly brought a smile creeping across fair features as the blond tilted his head a bit to the right. "Come little senshi...come little knights - tonight some of you will die." He whispered as that smile only grew. Oh, he was in a fine mood tonight and yet he stood up here holding himself in check and keeping as calm as he could.

Finally he lifted his communications crystal and spoke into it, as he held it next to his face. "Be prepared, order is arriving. Status report so far? Is everyone ready?" Falling silent to wait for the replies from his fellow officers. He hoped everyone was ready, mentally and physically, to handle the incoming senshi and knights.

(For any and everyone to reply to. Have fun!)

In the dark, Ellie couldn't see what awaited her as a smile spread across Annie's lips. Under it, excitement filled Psyche's body as she walked beside Iris with a furry little manx on her shoulder. Her hand rubbed the top of ********* head gently, affectionately, as her eyes scanned the area. She looked at Iris with interest but upon discovering the amount of words she was speaking, promptly ignored it for something else.

In the distance behind them, the meek sound of the guardian cat Thetis could be heard calling out to the group, "Waaaaaaait fooooooor meeeeeee!" He sounded out of breath as he caught up to them, huffing and puffing as each moment carried him closer to the group. He wasn't following them, or anything, he just happened to be in the area!

Kerberos mentally patted himself on the back for thinking to bring an energy orb. Out of uniform, he liked Vanya - so he wanted to actually impress her in-uniform, vs. leaving her with the impression that he was incompetent. Because damn it, he was not normally incompetent, getting ambushed by a first-stage Senshi notwithstanding.

"I'd be happy to help out," he said. Punching faces was really more his style than draining helpless civilians anyway, even if draining was his primary job - so clearly he'd just have to make time for both.

He moved over next to Astrophyllite, taking a moment to siphon off a small ball of energy and send it back to the crystal Avalon was guarding. He could feel the Order auras, and he frowned. These weren't weak, and there were more of them by the minute. He also spared a look for Aurostbite, before adding in his evaluation of the situation.

"Splitting 'em up is probably the best idea. The three of us can probably take one Eternal, but I've had more than enough magic bullshit tonight, so the quicker we can get rid of 'em the better." Almost unconsciously, he rubbed at his neck, where he was pretty certain there were teethmarks from the second Senshi's attack. That was gonna be fun to explain to his boyfriend.

Oh well, worry about that later.

Had other members of her court known that she was willingly following a Squire in hopes of discovering and foiling the Negaverse plans, they might have thought her mad or a traitor, or maybe they'd understand just how her deep her anger ran. They had hurt her family. They had hurt Avior. She would hurt them, somehow... even if it meant to stand against them or offer what meager advice she may have had, assuming they'd trust or listen to her.

Sailor Canopus had followed Falias all the way to the grid, and she wasn't too surprised to see that not only were there members of Order that had made it there before her, but the Negaverse as well. She looked on with a small frown, noting the large crystal and how it was surrounded by officers, and she spoke aloud, though not knowing if anyone would listen to her, or hear her. "This explains why the officers in the city didn't have back up. They were distracting us from this. But I wonder what they're going to do with that crystal..."

She heard a familiar voice and looked to see Astarte, too wrapped up in her own affairs during the decoy stunt that she hadn't had the chance to see the familiar senshi there. It was always good to see a familiar face, and she fought down the urge to blush, given the memory of their previous encounter. "That wouldn't be a good idea... they might have more officers in there waiting. Though, all of this could be another distraction."

Canopus wasn't sure what to think. She didn't want to go rushing headfirst into another factory or building again... it brought up too many painful memories and emotions. But she knew she couldn't just do nothing!

litian
Is it safe to assume Falias ran here?

Aeeth
She's still blushing, btw!

The text from Ida wasn't completely necessary, though it was good to know that her PSSG members were on the case. She had not seen either one during the other fiasco as she had literally ran in, talked to Thraen and followed the scarred Eternal without so much as sticking around to see the end results. She had faith in her fellow officers and spotted several members of the Jovian court there, so things could only go well in her mind.

She sent a text back as she kept running, careful not to trip on her own feet or lose track of the Eternal she accompanied.

Though, she felt more like Thraen's back up... not that it really mattered to her. What mattered was that bad s**t was happening and Thraen's instincts seemed dead on, as the closer they got to the power plant, the thicker the chaos energy seemed to grow. "Alright, score one for you. What's your plan now?"

Tsui could play second fiddle if she needed to, though her mind was distracted the moment they were close enough to see the signs of activity from the instigators of this brewing catastrophe, and one of them looked hauntingly familiar. A green-haired senshi decked like a Greek goddess, and Tsui found her stride slowing down. She seemed familiar, but it couldn't have been...

Persephone heard her name, and for a moment she expected that it was one of her Lieutenants, but no - it took her a moment, but the voice registered. It had been a very, very long time ago that she'd last seen the Eternal Senshi of Tigers - a whole different life, or so it felt, now. The lost, confused girl that Persephone had never quite grown out of being while she was still an Order senshi was long dead.

Still, it would be rude to ignore someone who recognized her, and so while she didn't leave her assigned crystal even though she thought about it - leaving it unprotected would be infinitely foolish - she did wave, perhaps a bit too cheerily given the situation since it was fairly likely she was going to end up fighting the white-haired Senshi who had once helped her learn to throw a punch.

"Tsui!" She called. "It's been a long time. I think I may have ignored every bit of advice you gave me - sorry!" It was especially ironic that they meet here, since Tsui had warned her about General Benitoite, and yet here she was working in an operation he was heading.

Andronicus sat crouched on the rooftop, arms between her legs and on the balls of her feet. She was some buildings back from the open area and in the direction of the most Order signatures. Acubens had told her to assess the situation and determine if it was ideal to engage, so she was doing just that as she waited for the Super Senshi. She'd taken a different route from the Senshi of Velociraptors, wanting to scout ahead.

She also wanted in on the action this time, but she'd at least understand the idea of planning first. What the senshi had told her stuck with her; Andronicus didn't want to be just another knight with a hero complex. She wanted to be... well she didn't what she wanted to be but being alive was ideal. Acubens had seemed terrified of Andronicus diving headfirst into battle.

The page wanted to prove she wasn't like everyone else.

She shifted, blocking out some of the lights with her fingers. Her hood was pulled over her hair, and with her dark colors she blended into the shadow of the air conditioning unit next to her. Green eyes hardened and she wished she had a pair of binoculars.

There were a bunch of Negaverse in that square. Some where defending others, while others were giving some sort of orb to the ones being defended. She couldn't see what they were doing otherwise, but the amount of signatures around the area told her that something big was going down. There placement told her they had something to do with the power outage too.

"Well at least no one has set them on fire yet." Andronicus muttered and sat down onto the ledge to reduce her ankle of pressure. Well then, hopefully Acubens would be okay with going in this time.

Or Andronicus was leaving her in the shadows.

She wanted to giggle, but that didn't quite broadcast the feeling of Respectability Avalon craved. So she didn't, instead reaching up to snag Astrophyllite's prize--a ball of energy, this one a little smaller than Kerberos'. As she fed the energy to her crystal--was it just her or was it glimmering slightly brighter now? Oh, this was so exciting--she paid more attention to her internal sense of where people were than what her eyes could see. Senshi were tricky sorts and knights were just plain bitches, speaking as one who had actually been one. The two lieutenants and their senshi stopped near the two Order signatures--with the arrival of a second, she wanted to send another after them. Maybe that floater, Pirisite. She'd decide later. She accepted another ball of energy--this one from Jarosite. "Excellent," she said, her smile taking on a cruel edge. Did she know what she was going to do with these crystals? ******** no! Not exactly! But it always pleased her to be successful.

"It's a pleasure, Captain," she said, taking a look at his weapon. Hers was more intimidating, but of course it was! She was a General. "Just keep them away from me, and we'll do fine." If he couldn't do that, well. Her sword would fall into her hand as easily as ever, a flick of a wrist and a moment to adjust for weight… and then it'd be lovely, wouldn't it?

She picked up her crystal at Benitoite's call. "I sent some of my squad after them," she said. "Senshi can get drained just as well as anyone else, right?" She knew they could. "Still waiting on Kaydrelite." The energy Kerberos sent, she caught in her cupped hands before handing it over to her crystal. "Wow. That's pretty." Goodness her.

Avalon turned back towards the approaching Order signatures, and wondered… why weren't they moving? They were massing, but… "It's probably one of their infinite Order debates," she said into the communication crystal. "They'll talk, and we'll do our thing."

"Gunn," said Gunn, who was fully aware of how dumb that could sound to anyone who didn't know there were two Ns. And also everyone who did know there were two ns. "It's a comet." She bared her teeth at the Chaos auras, fighting the urge to try another frontal assault. The senshi of the White Moon wouldn't back her up. She wished they would, of course, but if wishes were fishes she'd be at the beach with a net.

She did catch several balls of white light flying back towards the green-clad General. And, when she walked closer to the group--not very, just a few steps--she could just barely make out--was that--"They've got a corrupted senshi guarding one of them," she observed. Maybe it was a good thing Babylon had decided to bow out, or get lost, or whatever he'd done. Stop for coffee. Babylon, fifteen minutes late with Starbucks. He'd want to purify the hell-corrupted demon. What a problem child. He'd just better bring her a cup of coffee, too. "They're feeding the crystals energy, I think."

There were some Chaos auras closer. "There's some Chaos nearby," she said. "Either one big one or more tiny ones. Let's start by grabbing one and asking them to elucidate." This time, rather than charging in, she looked to Leda and Ida, then to the other senshi accumulating near them. "If I jump down there, are any of you going to back me up?"

Falias' overriding thought as he left the burning department store behind him was that he needed to find a power station, in fact the Squire was increasingly sure that by finding the power station that he'd the Negaverse officers along with the source of the citywide blackout - but the question was where to go...

Then he remembered that there was power plant up and behind the plaza with the fountain, the one with the trinklet stalls and fancy little boutique shops that as Marlin he'd shopped at once or twice when he'd wanted to find a really nice gift. It was a long shot, but one that he felt was worth checking out.

"I think I know of a place" he called to the Dark Mirror senshi with him (Canopus) as he broke out into first a trot and then a full out run, conscious of the fact that if he was right and the Negaverse were up to no good at the plant then they had a head start from the delaying tactics by the lot that they'd just encountered at the department store - of course there was a slim chance he was wrong and everything was a coincidence, but Falias wasn't planning to sit and wait and see if that was the case.

At any rate his thoughts turned out to be all a moot point, as it didn't take too long for him to pick up on the second group of Negaverse auras clustered together, nor was he surprised when he and the Dark Mirror tracked them down when the source turned out to be the power plant.

At the Dark Mirror senshi's query about the crystals his eyes turned to look at said crystals as he murmured quietly "I don't know, but I have a feeling that it probably isn't anything good." He frowned slightly as he heard another voice speak and spotted the senshi, this one part of the White Moon. "I agree with..." he began and looked awkward for a moment as he realised that he still didn't know the name of the Dark Mirror senshi who was, at least for this, an ally. "I agree" he said amending his previous words. "Rushing in doesn't sound like a good idea, we need a plan" and one that hopefully encompassed more than just the three of them given that he was sensing some pretty strong Nega-auras.

On the other hand he was sensing other Order auras here too which was a plus. although "And we should probably move quickly." After all they had no idea how long the Nega-officers had been clustered here doing goodness knows what with those crystals.

Acubens had opted to circle back the burning building just a little while longer while Andronicus went ahead. The squire had been right, staying out of the fray was selfish when she had the tools to help. Poking carefully around what had already burned to ashes, she searched for lingering survivors or civilians that had been caught in the fray and been unable to escape. And if she could glean any answers, that wouldn't hurt. Why had the negaverse wanted civilians in the first place? Large scale energy draining or to gather the senshi?

"I couldn't find anything in the ruins," she muttered, coming up next to Andronicus. "So that either means that there were no survivors, which is unlikely, or..." Acubens trailed off, crossing her arms and clicking her nails against the metal of her bracers irately. She disliked being tricked, and as she pieced together what was happening this evening, her temper began to prod her into action.

"Oh, I nearly forgot." with a soft thud, Acubens dropped Andronicus' boots beside her. "I figure I've just about had it with recon this evening. And so this is their next trap, is it," she sighed heavily, rubbing her aching ribs as she did so. "Don't suppose we have a choice anymore, do we? I guess now we bring the fight to them. Before we bring down a heavy rain of karmic recompense have you figured anything out about what, exactly, is going on?"

Ignoring (for now) the Senshi of War that she'd managed to pick up Chariklo raced through Destiny City, following the Chaos auras that flickered and massed. For now, she was more concerned with trying to figure out what, exactly, was going on. And if it affected the Court.

Yes. She was here for the Court's sake. And not because she was harboring a grudge boner. Nope. Totally not holding a grudge. Just because some of their officers had murdered her friend in front of her and then tried to murder her Princess in an ambush didn't mean she was holding a grudge!

Okay. Yes. She was and she relished it. She was willing, for the most part, to let some of the Negaverse's officers be. But she'd seen just enough of faces she recognized from the ambush holding those hostages to be completely willing to side with Order this once.

----

Haumea had paused in their retreat just long enough to put his passenger down and guard her while she powered up before smiling, saluting and racing off to find his Squad Leader. He knew roughly that he was supposed to report to Persephone and that he was supposed to drain energy from whatever civilians the blackouts had chased from their homes.

Easy enough. Particularly when Some of them were simply standing around. Like the girl he was currently fast approaching. He couldn't know her views on the War going on every day around her, but maybe he could sweet-talk her long enough to get some energy to present to his Squad Leader.

"Hey, wow. Why are you out in this mess? Don't you know it's not safe?" he spoke to the girl in a low, reassuring voice, holding one hand near her back as if to steady her. Instead, as he spoke, he concentrated on pulling some of her energy into that hand.

"I mean, I know blackouts are exciting, but still dangerous to be out alone in the middle of one. You never know who you might run into and what their intentions are..."

Case in point, he thought as he withdrew his hand over the orb of energy now resting in it. Time to go.

"You should really go sit down somewhere safe and relax," he called to the girl before darting off again. Time to deliver this little gift.
