He leaned back in his chair and set the phone back on the desk, lifting a hand to tug absently at a lock of his hair. "Death Division are the organizers," Gale said, after a moment's consideration. "We're the ones who gather the information - mainly from missions, not research - that's Life - and we pick it apart, try to understand it. We partner with Life mostly, because they're the researchers and the scientists; they focus on understanding things as much as we do. Moon Division are the defense at Deus, so in exchange for our understanding and organizing of situations, Moon protects us. Same goes for Sun, though they do the offense."
Gale tilted his head, scrutinizing her. "I can't honestly say why you were picked for this division, because I've only just met you," he said. "Death Division hunters are generally people who aren't going to be on the direct line of fire; they stay on the back lines, focus on keeping things from becoming too chaotic. We're the rational minds, the intelligence; not that other divisions aren't intelligent, because they are," he added, just to be clearer. "I mean intelligence as in we gather the information needed to survive."
