He jerked backwards at the sound. It was by some small miracle of convulsive grasping that he didn’t drop the coffee pot, close, very close but no dropping it, not yet. He had a moment’s impulse of wanting to chuck the coffee pot towards the sound of the bang, but it hadn’t been from in here… so... where had it been?

“Hello?” He called Cautiously moving towards where he had heard the bang to see if he could either hear someone, of find some means of reaching them.

“Who’s there? Are you alright?”

making his way instead to open the door on the left-hand side.

The door opens to...a bathroom. A fairly nice (but old-looking) bathroom, but still a bathroom. Every door it open and you can see into it, but there isn't much in here. You close the door again, and realize there is something written on it:

A / M

You look at the door on the right; it has A/F written on it...perhaps it is used to announce who the bathrooms are geared for?

As you turn to leave the bathrooms though, you see another door and a staircase: the staircase leads down to a lower floor but is gated, locked, and entirely inaccessible. The door, however, has something written on it...

moving towards where he had heard the bang

Pachua walks right into the counter the coffee machine is sitting on, and finds himself talking to a wall. It seems that whoever had hit the wall, was on the other side of it.

Either way, nobody answers his questions.

"Nice to meet you." Remi was addressing Aurel, but it probably looked like he was saying it to the decomposing body. He was lacking emotions really at this present time, still staring at the corpse. Perhaps it just felt weird to see a dead body, eitherway he shook his head out of it and decided he needed to move on.

Hopefully this dead thing wouldnt follow him literally, it sure as hell would in his nightmares.

The BANG had caused the fox boil to give a rather loud yip, but other than that he collected himself back again quickly. THe body seemed to freak him out a little more. "Pachua you okay in there? Is someone else with you?" He followed Aurel towards whatever he spotted, and decided to try and open the Right-side door while he went into the left.

"Well, that's useless," He muttered at the bathrooms. Aurel closed the door and looked at the two of them frustrated. "There are no other do---" Oh, look. Speak of the devil.

Maybe if he started saying random things they'd appear.

"Look, there is stairs." Grammar syntax, Mr. Scandinavia. It didn't look inviting with that locked door at the end but there was some writing on it. Aurel squinted and started down the stairs. "I cannot read. Someone will have to read it..."
PostPosted: Wed Apr 30, 2014 8:24 pm

“I’m ok! Who or whatever that was, it seems to have been on the other side of the wall. Whatever it is… or …was, it’s not responding.”

He made a irritable hmm sound and squinted at the wall.
He sets the pot down briefly and just because…why not, he’s right at the counter, he inspects the coffee machine it brewed at one point, there may be something of a clue hidden inside, I mean why not…

They are in some absurd set of rooms with no apparent exit and mysterious banging. So either he’s supposed to leave the kitchen or it doesn’t want him finding something. Perfectly sound logic, he told himself and nodded. “I’m just… going to be stupid in here for a moment, anyone else find anything? Best I can say is maybe we can defend ourselves with a…sludge filled coffee pot, maybe…hit someone with it.”

Followed by the obvious question. "Stairs? Can't…read what?"

open the Right-side door

Remi opens the door to see...a bathroom. This bathroom smells fairly nice, which is a good change in pace at least? Inside seems fairly nice and well stocked, but otherwise nothing catches and holds your interest. When you decide to close the door, you see:

A / F

Written on the door - perhaps to announce who it was geared for? From where you stand now though, you can see the door - which has something written on it - and the gated and locked staircase, which Aurel is currently talking right into.

Aurel squinted and started down the stairs.

Aurel walks right into the tall, door-like gate that blocks the staircase. It's locked, but you can't get past it at all.

Well, at least it smelled better in there. He was tempted to stay a little longer to clear out his sinus's when...

"What reading?" He turned around, not at all judging the other boil. Reading wasn't exactly something everyone could do, he only learned because his family demanded he at least be a little ed-ja-mu-cated.

So he followed down the stairs to read whatever it was and say it out loud as he did.

You read the Bathroom door labels out loud to Aurel, but just before you go to follow him into the gate, you see another door to your left, one you could not have seen from where you woke up. You realize that the door says [ NOPE ] in thick red paint. It seems to be locked.

Quote:
It is up to you whether or not you announce whether or not the door seems locked. However, anyone in the [ AREA ] will be able to see that you have tried the door, and that it seems locked. Anyone can try to find the key.

Look for the Key!
  • Roll a 1d10
  • Match your result to the prompts below:
1 - Your search turns up nothing of note, aside from crumpled garbage bags.
2 - You find a scrap of paper. It looks burned, but you think you can read EMPLOYMENT: ----- anything else however, seems entirely unreadable.
3 - You find a book. It's an old harlequin novel sporting a buff minotaur monster and a rotting but rather attractive zombie; the title says 'DYING TO RIDE'. It's really badly written.
4 - You find a steak knife in a drawer, but it looks a little dull.
5 - Your search turns up nothing of note, aside from crumpled garbage bags.
6 - You find a small square of fabric on the floor. Underneath it is a tourniquet an empty syringe.
7 - You notice that there is a tile that doesn't sit quite right. You walk over to it and tap it, and it naturally rings hollow; it's just a simple matter of raising the tile, and after that it doesn't take you long to find a box (please read further instructions below!).
8 - You find a book. It's a non-fiction about the life and times of Stave Jorbs, who apparently created the eyePhones or something.
9 - Your search turns up nothing of note, aside from crumpled lunch bags.
10 - You find a knife. It's a butter knife, but at least it's something!
  • The first person to roll a [ 7 ] should quote The Escaped. The second person to roll it may choose the 6 OR 8 result prompt.
  • You may keep any item you find.
  • ROLL AS OFTEN AS YOU ARE HUMANLY CAPABLE OF find that box go go go!

"...Nope. That is useful and helpful. Thanks." Aurel grouched, trying the door again, hoping by some miracle that it'd open. Nope. That was the theme of the day. "There has to be a key somewhere or something I just - This smell is going to make me vomit."

Aurel turned on his heel and started to tear apart the kitchen, grunting toward Pachua, "Help look for a key?"

The first thing he found was a burnt piece of scrap paper with writing on it. That was not useful to him. He handed it over to Pachua, "Or read for me..."

Time to look again.

At this point, he was about ready to make his way back into one of the nice clean smelling bathrooms to try and get away from the smell. Drawers were being opened and closed, cupboards being slammed. Nothing. Nothing at all. Aurel sunk down onto the floor of the kitchen to start searching lower cabinets. Nothing was going to be---Oh that looked weird. One of the tiles looked...strange.

Aurel leaned forward, tapping on it, only for it to ring hallow. "Eureka!" People said that, right? The Leshy stood himself up and put all force down that he could on his foot to try and smash the tile open. One. Two. Three - Tile shattered and he dropped down again, digging through the ceramic debris to pull out the box.

You fish the box out from the wreckage. It's a simple cherry wood box and otherwise unremarkable, and thankfully it's easily opened. Inside you discover:

Quote:

"You found it!" A squeaky voice cheers - you spin around and at first you see nothing. Baffled, you look around, and finally you look down; there is a Fracs sitting behind you. Its head is tilted up as if it's looking at you and you alone, and its tail is swinging behind it in absolute delight. "I'm so pleased! I was worried you wouldn't." It continues on, sounding positively delighted, and even rears back onto it's hind paws to clack it's front hooves together, clearly clapping for your accomplishments over finding the box.

"You're well on your way to making it out of here pretty quickly, if you keep this up!" It announced, clambering to all fours and hopping up onto the nearest table to get a better vantage point. The little Fracs walks in a circle around the table, then a much tighter circle on the spot, and after pawing at the table once - then twice - it takes a seat. The gas mask obscures its features its head doesn't often move, but you can feel it looking at each of you in turn.

"I suppose you're all wondering why you're here, right? I mean, of course you are. I'd wonder what I was doing here, too. Well!" It reared up again, gesturing vaguely with it's front hooves. "You were selected to perform in a social experiment! Aren't you lucky?!" It paused for a few pregnant moments, as if expecting an applause - but when it didn't get one, it didn't seem phased. "The goal here is to work as a team to find a way out, which shouldn't be too hard ~ you all look like a bunch of bright, smart kids..." The squeaky little voice tapered off for a moment, as if it didn't quite believe that it was saying.

"If you follow the rules, the four of you will make it out in one piece!" It nodded to itself, and then turned to look towards the door with [ NOPE ] written on it. "The key in that box belongs to that door. Your escape lies in one of those rooms, so it'll take all of you to find and figure it out. Happy Hunting!"

In a blink, the Fracs was gone.

The OOC

Reply to the above as you see fit. Everyone in the room saw the Fracs and heard its little announcement. When the key holder is ready, they may go and [ unlock the NOPE door ] - please remember to post this in bold red!

Pachua let out a small –hiss- at the words from the Fracks. He pulled his wings close and the long feathers on every part of him that showed slimmed down to almost dagger looking edges.

“… Maybe we should make a last sweep in here, before we check the other rooms.”

Pachua suggested still staring at where the Fracks had been just a moment before. He was never looking at those particular mini pets the same again… ever. But so far they’d found a key, strange maps, and a pot of congealed coffee if you didn’t count the rotting body.

“… I’m grabbing the pot of coffee, we can use it as a weapon maybe, we should maybe check the…the body, pockets and stuff.”

He turned back and grabbed the coffee pot from the kitchen again before returning to the others.

A very loud and pronounced groan rang through the room after the Fracs had disappeared, the head of the ghost ghoul finally lifting from her arms as she stared at the other three blankly. Sniffing at the air caused tears to swell in her eyes, and Pachua's suggestion of using the coffee pot as a weapon appalled the ghoul enough for her to stand - rather shakily - and grab the boil's wrist. "Weapon? Honey, coffee is not a weapon." She stated firmly, lowering his wrist back to the coffee pot.

She recognized Remi, but the other two boils (including the boil she'd just used her mom voice on) were unfamiliar. She knew they were trapped, and that they'd apparently found something that was taking them a step closer to getting out of wherever it was they were. "Remi..." She gave a slow nod to the Kitsune, hoping he didn't hold any grudges for that dream incident. "Who are our friends?"

Pachua gains +1 burnt coffee pot, unless Gene convinces him to not take it.
