He'd missed her smacking the other pumpkin because he was so focused on the one in front of him. When she was nearby and now touching the pumpkin, that was when he allowed himself to touch it as well - as if he was simply waiting for her so they could both touch the pumpkin at the same time.
Or at least around the same time.
It felt warm, comforting. Happiness of their future secured. "Ahhh. We're gonna be mummy and daddy," he was wiggling now, "Freya! We did it! We found our first one."

Kettil's hand was covered by her other one, and Freya pressed her cheek down on the pumpkin, listening for - well, there was nothing to actually hear, because it really was just a pumpkin for now. But she listened, regardless. Because it was their pumpkin. "It's so perfect." She whispered in awe, breathing in deep and taking in it's pumpkiny smell. Just right. "Is it the same colors as yehrs was? Are yeh in there little tiny Kettil and Freya scareling?" She turned and kissed the pumpkin on its skin. Then she put her hands underneath it, and tried to lift it, comically failing - as it was a nice, big pumpkin - and she was unprepared for it's weight. "Come.. on.. we has teh.. takes yeh.. home..!" She might strain her back, at this rate.

"I think...It looks like mine but just different enough t'be it's own little personality," he said affectionately. There was so much hope and wonder in this one vessel. He wanted to just hold it and never let go. Not ever.
When Freya moved to try and pick it up, he just let out a small chuckle, "Here let's do it together," he said fondly as he moved to put his hands on the pumpkin just so to lift it with his and her combined strengths, "Okay.. N..Now we get to bring it home?"
Despite having younger siblings it seemed that his memories of their homecoming were rather blank and covered with the buzz of his own impending fatherhood.

"JA!" Freya's memory of taking care of pumpkins was still very strong - but it was Hel's pumpkin specifically that she'd remembered the most. "We takes it home and we puts our Fear into it together, a little bit at a time. Did yeh takes Miss Crickets class on the subject? I did, and I was there for all my little sisters pumpkins. I knows just what teh duu." Kettil had most of the work of picking the pumpkin up, but she tried her hardest to help, carrying it out of the pumpkin patch with him. The patch keeper nodded his blessing once they passed him with it; he was more than used to seeing happy, bubbly families coming out with the perfect pumpkin. "THANKS MISTER!" Freya screamed out at him, and he put his finger to his lips, reminding her how important it was to be quiet around the pumpkin. She winced and mouthed the words out, and he waved her away in amusement.

"Can't say I had the chance to take Cricket's class," he admitted with a short laugh. Most everything he learned from Freya when it concerned things similar to this, and he was perfectly fine with learning from his wife. "Guess I shoulda paid more attention, but I was more excited when they came out cause I could actually play with them."
Kettil was all about interaction but this was different. This was his and Freya's.
He gave a wave to the watcher of the pumpkins and a thankful smile as well as they left.
It took them a while but they eventually got home, pumpkin and all. Kettil didn't mind doing most of the work in the carrying of the pumpkin, she helped in her own way. The Muut shifted to where he could throw open the door for them to get in, "We're home!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAACHHHHHHH." As much as Kettil was doing most of the work, Freya still felt sore and exhausted from attempting to help carry the pumpkin all the way inside. Once they were in the apartment, however, they carried the pumpkin into the room that they'd decorated just for their little scareling, and she instructed him to settle the pumpkin into the crib. "Yeh see, when its born, it will smells pumpkin and feels at home!" She explained, as she patted the pumpkin and slowly covered it with a blanket. Then she fell down to the floor, and tried to catch her breath. "SO TIRED!"

He put the precious pumpkin into the crib as instructed and then smiled lightly down at it. That was his, just like Freya was his. Kettil gave the pumpkin a gentle light caress and then turned toward Freya when she fell down to the floor. He was used to her dramatics and wasn't too concerned over whether she was hurt or not.
Kettil moved to kneel next to her and began to gently pick her up, "Such a tired ghoul~, wanna go take a nap then?"
Which meant he was taking a nap with her, because to be honest he was tired as well. Even his arms trembled a little as he held her, but he put up a good front.

Nap? A nap sounded lovel- "NO!" Freya remained on the floor, but her entire body seizured from the sudden need to do something that wasn't a nap. "No, we has teh starts sharing our Fear into the pumpkin now, because it just got disconnected from the patch, it is delicate and it needs an immediate Fear transfusions! We has teh does it now, Hooter, we starts our baby! Here, helps me up." She held both of her hands out for him.

"Woah, hey good point," he said with a short laugh. Instead of picking her up he helped her up. "What would I do without you?"
Truly he was hopeless on his own. He'd be three degrees north of clueless if it was just him trying to create a life on his own. As he pulled her up to her feet he leaned and gave her a kiss on the cheek, "So let's make sure the baby'll get what it needs."

She flew up to her feet when he pulled, light enough to have been an inch off the ground before she stood up and leaned over the opposite side of the crib as him. She took the blanket off of the top of the pumpkin, and coo'd at the sight of it once more. It was so perfect, so perfect! She placed both of her hands on its skin, feeling it under her touch, and took on a Super Serious face. Her eyes flickered up to Kettil. "Yeh ready?"

He took his place without any instruction needed. As soon as the pumpkin was uncovered and her hands were upon it, he placed his upon it near hers, "I believe I am," he said cheerfully. Kettil was excited.
The first time would be difficult, but it would become easier and easier over time.
...He hoped.

"Okays!" Freya took his word for it, and closed her eyes. With zenlike process, she focused on her core, her essence, right in the middle of her. She let it spread out, up into her arms, and started to imagine pouring it right into the pumpkin. Wherever her Fear moved, she felt warm and fuzzy, and when she opened her eyes, her hands were glowing just like they were whenever she made a pin. This time, however, she could tell it was much more of her being sacrificed. She heard - felt? - experienced the loss of something inside of her, but she knew it wasn't irreplaceable. She was giving it to her scareling, giving a piece of herself over to be molded and shifted into a tiny little Fear core of its own. Voices from every person of importance floated freely in her mind. Every trial, every life changing moment, every hurdle overcome to get to this.. she felt a tiny piece of all of them travel with her Fear. They were, all of them, what made her her. And now it would all be a tiny piece of what made their child, himself. Or herself. All of that creative energy flowed inside of the pumpkin, glowing as it passed through the skin, until it disappeared deep within.

There was a feeling to all this that he couldn't quite place. He was peaceful, but excited. The excitement made it a little harder for him to concentrate the way he needed to at first. Eventually he managed to reign himself in and soon his hands touching the pumpkin lit with a gentle glow of his fear, and it mingled with Freya's essence as well.
He felt as if a part of him was being drained away and fed into the pumpkin, but he didn't mind. Kettil knew he'd gladly do this several times over. Each little bundle would be given a piece of himself and Freya.
Kettil stared down at the pumpkin as the process went through. Should he talk? Should he sing? For now he was left speechless in wonder. This was theirs, a small piece of them that will wander the world of Halloween and learn what it needs to learn. A desperate hope hung in his heart - a hope that the scareling would be happy and healthy, a concern of a first time father that didn't know what the future held.

Inside of the pumpkin, where they couldn't see, the Fears of two completely different Reapers began to mingle, twisting and turning and feeding on the pumpkin itself until there was enough raw material to start something completely miraculous. A tiny little flicker, a flame, a core, completely unique and yet a part of them both. Their Fear continued to feed into the core, but now it was a tiny little thing feeding off of them, and not just some empty vegetable. There was a thrum of life within, something all its own. "Hooter!" Freya whispered, her chest rising and falling with the weight of how important the moment was, coupled with her growing exhaustion. "Did yeh feels that? Is like a little heartbeat.." It was too much for her. Still smiling, Freya's Fear stream began to fade, because she was starting to pass out. She swayed, her body preparing to fall.

"I see it, TĂșkut!" His voice showing his steady progression of exhaustion and excitement. There was just something so wonderful about this whole event - it was momentous at least to him and to Freya as well, he could tell. It was something they did together and would always do together. Each time would be its own special little event.
Kettil flicked his gaze over to Freya when he realized something was amiss. He stopped feeding his fear into the pumpkin and immediately went to gather Freya into his arms, "Hey, hey. Don't pass out now. I need ya." He kissed her cheek. "I think that's enough for the day, darlin'."
