" Thraen Perennial Planting ! " The youma was well, well within range a breath after his dodge, pressing the attack even as the magic spread a carpet of vines and brilliant flowers out along the dull concrete and macadam. Thraen only just shifted his position on the completion of the cast in time, one of the chitinous spears driving hard and glancing along some of the wood of a boot. The wood splintered and cracked at the blow, taking much of the energy and transferring the res in what would probably end of a wide-spread bruise.

Easier to explain as a studio accident than a puncture.

He scrambled in a crab walk away from the limbs as they thrashed in tangles of vines and reaction to, "Faust-"

The scrappy alleycat was a lot bolder and more forward than the soft, peaceful clothe that the cream cat, ********* or Ash seemed cut from. More fitting of a title like 'Guardian', anyway, willing to join the fray. Dead...too late to help someone, then. But that can wait until this thing is prevented from following up one with many more. How does it eat starseeds, with no-

But his thought was answered in a moment as he shifted forward to follow Faust's example in digging to the center of the sphere via eyes. The opening organs opened doubling around himself and the Mauvian as the pupils split into black maws that strained to leave the sockets and consume. "Watch your paws!"

Thraen caught either edges of an eye-maw with both hands and started to pull apart the vice like a bear trap. It was slowing, the polling and vines taking full hold.

Just before feline claws met the soft tissue forming the eye, its pupils dilated into a blackened mass of teeth. Inertia propelled Faust forward regardless, and no amount of air-paddling would discourage the venture. The maw yawned wide an instant after, ready to snap up the Mauvian as a simple snack, when Faust acted on instinct. Rather than shy away from the creature and risk teeth sinking into his flanks, Faust leaned into the creature's mouth and found purchase with claws in the soft flesh of the mouth. A quick kick with the back legs sent the cat upward and safely out of reach of the crushing blow before teeth snapped shut with a snap.

Curiously enough, Faust landed in a bed of flowers. To the feline's keen nose, they provided a smell utterly tantalizing compared to the stench of insipid chaos seeping from the claw marks in one of the creature's many mouths. Soon he witnessed vines crawling across the ground toward the beast in an effort to restrain.

Senshi magic, he recognized in an instant.

A heaviness settled in his lids, his limbs, and faust found it far too difficult to fight for consciousness suddenly. Had the youma poisoned him somehow? He never remembered earning a gash... A quick turn of his head revealed no overt wounds, but... Even such motions proved far beyond his dwindling energy reserves. "Thraen, kill that..." The cat managed before slumping into a heap.

His fading thoughts were urgings for motion, for action, before sleep took him.

He heard Faust's last directives before napping, soon elbow deep in tearing the thing open manually for the next twenty seconds. It started falling to ashes even as the flowers were fading.

I thought it was ********* that told me ...yes...she imparted the words of both magics that I know. She never mentioned what the magic did. It may take focus not ideal to the battlefield? Why speculate, when it can be asked and known.

He crossed to the large black lump tangled in vines, brushing a hand over what was accessible of the poufy limbs checking for any damage. The vines of the second magic lasted longer than the sleep. Thraen supposed that sort of restraint could be nightmarish to some. No blood, no breaks He waited until the familiar, feline eyes opened, "The vines last a few more seconds."

Only a breath or so longer than it took to mention it. Facing the youma, Thraen hadn't had chance to see where Faust had initially searched out. "Which way is the body."

Faust stirred to a solid grip over the whole of his body, and instinctive feline writhing set in immediately. He twisted and churned beneath the grasp, desperate in all attempts to break free. Thraen spoke, and he hardly heeded the words before the vines enveloping his body began their retreat. A facet of his senshi magic... And from the sound of it. the sudden narcolepsy stemmed from Thraen's own hand as well. Not bad. And to find that the youma was nothing more than ash upon waking? Even better.

Once he righted himself, Faust shook emphatically to dislodge any dirt or youma ash from his coat. Afterward he trotted in the direction of an alley not far from the pile of ash, tucked behind a carpet manufacturer's showroom. "Down here," he called, before scampering through the veritable obstacle course of debris strewn through the alley. A glance to his left confirmed an overturned dumpster, likely a hint toward an earlier battle with the youma.

It pained him to think the youth prone on the floor might've been a senshi, but casualties were as much a fact of war as differing opinions. And if this potential senshi gave her life in battle, well... It was the best death Faust could've hoped for.

Perhaps in collecting together other senshi, Faust might mitigate the amount of death needed to end the war. In any case, the more senshi they had, the better chance they stood in the fight against Chaos. No amount of tragedy would dissuade him from that notion.

He drew to a halt not far from the body, sitting down in a billowing wave of fur. "If this girl was a soldier, we can't just leave her face down in an alley. Not if she gave'r life fer the cause."

Thraen followed the Mauvian's lead, ignoring the noise annoyances of his boots as he climbed over the strewn rubble and wreckage of the alley. Finding the fallen girl's side, the trash everywhere turned out to be something of a boon- the scent of rotting foodstuffs and dumpster finds helped mask the pooling of blood, intestine and fecal waste that hung out of some lower perforations.

Her face and neck were intact, shoulders. Her arms were torn up, whether in the last throes of trying to defend herself or part of the struggle before hand was nothing he was expert enough to determine. He frisked the body and area around her after the initial consideration of her, "Are you able to sense a Henshin Pen if it's near? Do they have any residual aura? It might tell us if she was a scout or just a stander by. Not that it matters in how we should see to her, but a henshin should not be left around. Or a phone?"

There wasn't one apparent on her. Just a wallet in her back pocket, a school ID and some membership cards to local grocery and coffee shops for discounts, and a pay-as-you-go phone. Thraen slid his arm under her arms and knees and lifted her, carrying her out from the alley way. "It is a hard call anymore. Families want closure, yet it feels also lesser to leave them here on Earth. There's no guarantee she even has a family. It is a Meadowview ID. Where this city they've defended will not defend them. I'd rather take the fallen to space, to sleep among the stars for their sacrifice. What else is a Garden of and for the dead but a cemetery. It seems the best inheritance for that far place. "

"Can't sense jack while you're runnin' yer mouth, jabberjaws!" Faust quipped while searching the area around the corpse, nose to the ground. He padded about the entirety of the corpse, though had nothing to show to it beyond bloody cat prints dotted across the cement. "There ain't no aura comin' from this one, not anymore. That goes out like a light whenever you power down. As for a Henshin Pen... Not seein' a damn thing here. 'Less it got thrown in the dumpster."

Straightening up, Faust sat on his haunches in a great poof of fur. "Look Thraen, it might be nice to build some kinda creepy cemetery outta your planet and all, but burial ain't for the dead. You gotta think of her parents - sometimes it's better to know whether she's alive or dead than to just waste the days watchin' and waitin' for that one perfect day when the kid comes strollin' through the door. Sure, they might not be alive, 'specially not in this warzone, but it's cleaner to just tip off the police and scat." Afterward Faust turned feline gaze toward the corpse, looking over the severity of her wounds. Surely she had no hope of survival, even if they discovered her in time.

"'Sides, if you go runnin' off to your planet like that, it's just more time and energy wasted that could be better spent protectin' people from s**t like this. You wanna go fuss with a corpse and have more on your hands? That s**t don't fly with me, Thraen."

Thraen looked over his shoulder briefly at the Mauvian, lifting an eyebrow with some amusement, "I didn't say that I was going to take her. Only voicing thoughts. "

He did, though, get her out of the alley and lay her down visible to the street, seated propped against the wall of the near building. In the dim light. He took her cellphone up and dialed 911 on it, waiting for the operator to come on. He didn't answer their usual series of questions, "There's a girl, dead. Block of 21st and Liberty."

With that he crouched to put the cellphone back in her pocket and motioned to his shoulder and Faust, "There's miles to go before we sleep."

We can fade out with them continuing off hunting on your post, perhaps?

Faust raised an eyebrow right back at the eternal. "Who the hell taught you to stand around and run yo' mouth when you got s**t to do? Get with the program, man."

Faust soon followed the blonde, once he ensured to the best of his senses that nothing malicious still lurked in the alley. A dusted youma may provide some relief, but plenty more roamed the city - and Faust wagered that where there were youma, there were officers. However, all he could hear beyond the eternal's voice laying out directions to a corpse was the simple lull of the wind. Nothing further stirred in the distance. Satisfied, he turned his bobtailed rump toward the alley and trotted after Thraen.

"You know somethin', Thraen? Yer alright," Faust conceded shortly before a jump to the blonde's shoulders. Once settled in, he tightened claws to the bodice and set ears flat to his skull. "I think we'll make a damn fine team, you and I."
