Aesculus smiles at his friend's comment, and nods at his offering. Even were something to happen or were he need anything, he most likely would search the castle all night before he would trouble his friend.

Cervus smiled warmly and he nodded his head. "I shall endeavor to do so, Aesculus, provided you do the same." He winked, knowing neither of them were likely to stop worrying. Even as children they thought too much on matters for their elders.
Cervus squeezed his friend's shoulder one last time, and departed.

PREPARATIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR'S REVEL
King Cervus sat down at the head of a long table set up in the Great Hall, with a bounty of fruits, breads, and cheeses distributed along it's length. There were chairs and place settings for all of the Sun Court Fey lining the sides, and a chair for his Queen beside him.
He looked out over the assembled members of his court, and smiled to each of them in turn. "The year is at an end, and a new one shall begin, my friends. This year has returned us to the waking world, and it is my hope that we can help revive some of the traditions of our people. It was always the custom of the court to hold a revel in honor of the New Year, and I think we should maintain this custom."
He raised his glass and looked to his fellows with a broad smile. "What say you?" he asked the gathering.

Muris smiled, but decided to stay silent. It would be best to let one of higher rank speak before she did. Still, she thought the idea was a good one. They seemed like they could all use a bit of fun, for certain, and she knew that she could.
She would ask if she could help out with cooking for the feast, perhaps. She'd become rather decent at it since that incident with the cookies in the kitchen...

Alces looked down the table toward Cervus and gave a nod of agreement, "I agree my dear King, we should continue this tradition." He loved gatherings like this, and the happy look on his face showed it. His ever-present smile was even a bit wider than usual as he kept looking at his cousin and nodding for a while longer. The Fey seemed to be glowing as he looked around at the rest of the Fey that were present.

"I believe it would make a heart warming start to our first year as the returned Sun Court. A welcome to the new year, which I'm sure will be joyful and allow us to return to our old lives as much as possible." Filix replied, still with the same smile that had melted onto her face the second she'd taken a seat amongst all those she'd grown up with. She sat calmly, hands folded in her lap.

Rosa cleared her throat and slowly looked up from her nails, which she had been quite occupied with for quite some time. "Oh, well said my sister." She said somewhat quietly in a greatly appeasing tone. "And celebrations are always welcome. What better way to bring newfound joy to our day to day lives? Goodness knows some of us need it..." She smiled at nothing in particular, and then looked down at her nails again, though not before giving Filix a somewhat coy glance.

Ursa pushed her hair behind her ears, sitting forward, listening in on the conversation. She didn't dare interrupt; making an idiot of herself wouldn't do much justice. She cleared her throat, and admired Muris's adult state from afar her wrists carefully propped on the table... She twitched a bit, and scrunched up her nose, her eyes wandering back toward the King and Queen.

Cervus smiled broadly at the positive words from the table. "I am pleased to know you are in agreement. I have thought long on the matter, and upon scanning one of my mother's journals I've found the New Year revel she favored the most was a Masquerade Ball. I think it would be refreshing and entertaining to costume ourselves and mingle about, and see if we can go unrecognized until the stroke of midnight, when we can all unmask. What do you think?"
The King's dark eyes moved around the table, gauging reactions and trying to determine what his people thought.

Finally, the mouse spoke up,
"I think it'd be a really fun way to have the ball," she piped up, looking around at the others to make sure she was within her right to speak now,
"I mean...it will be much more interesting than simply a regular dance...and much more fun if one must find or make a costume."
She had no idea how she was going to get one herself-- she had no talent in sewing, but perhaps she could convince Sissy to take her to Gaia for some sort of fitting.

Rosa leaned into her chair, masking a sigh somewhat. She let her back which was uncomfortably arched relax some, while giving a forced smile. "Yes. Costumes and a masquerade. How.. quaint. I suppose if we must cover our faces in such a way it should be done at a festival. Where the other pleasantries will... make up for it." Oh how she hated the idea of covering her .. flawless compexion.. but even she would gladly accept it if it ment otherwise getting to dress up and go about acting like the prissy countess she was, at a grand festival... infront of *everyone!*

"I agree with Stablemaster Muris. That would be fun." Alces commented, "Although going unrecognized until midnight might prove a bit challenging for some." He looked up toward his antlers a moment then back at his cousin, a grin still on his face, "But I'm sure there are ways." He ended with a nod and gave a quick glance around the table again, happy to be with all the other Fey.

"Wonderful!" Cervus exclaimed, his smile bright. "And I think participants can dress either in fancy garb with a fancy mask of some sort, or in full costumes."
He grinned at his cousin, "And I realize some of us may have to be extremely creative to disguise who we are, but I'm certain we are up to the task."
At that he looked around the room once more. "I also wish to extend the invitation to all Kithain and their families. I realize not all of their kin may be able to come, as passage through the faerie ring is limited by whom they can carry or who has fey blood. But blood relations should be able to pass through, and any carried individuals. Please also have them dress in masquerade attire."
