He remembered nothing of what Finn was telling him, and he was fairly sure that Finn was completely capable of lying to him in order to get him to calm down. But he also wanted to believe him, that even when completely corrupted by Chaos--a hell of a drug, as Finn had said--he had been able to put himself aside to help someone. That was the whole idea behind going for the doctorate when he’d rather be a concert pianist or something.
So he looked up when he heard Finn kneel near him, and took the glass of water. Nick held it, rather than drinking from it; he nodded, ran a hand over his hair, and said, “Could you please get Tallulah? Please. I’d really like it if you got her.” Because he was feeling too lightheaded to get up, actually? He put the water down at his side--his hands were shaking so badly he almost spilled it--and curled up again.

So maybe the water hadn’t been Finn’s best idea - but he’d tried, okay? This was just way beyond anything he was prepared to deal with and he recognized that. “Okay,” Finn said evenly, not sure what he was going to tell Tallulah - maybe just can you come down here and let her deal with it? But that seemed cruel…
Anyway, he headed for the door. “I’m going to go get Tallulah,” he said. “Just wait here. I’ll get her.”
He took the stairs two at a time.
