Warmth...comfort...she didn't want any of that though. Groaning as another shift brought a sharp pain to her side once more, Moonlight fell still again, though she was growing more alert. The pain at least had aided with that. She heard words of comfort, soft gestures to bring calm and relief. Instead, her lip lifted with a weak, but guttural snarl.

Ranuin had leapt to his paws at the first signs of Moony stirring, yet the growl that reached his ears gave him more pause than his initial realization that he should stay back and let her family respond first. That...wasn't exactly the first thing he'd expected when she woke. Then again, knowing Moony...maybe it should have been. "Err...Moony?"

Her lip had not lowered and slowly golden eyes opened and began scanning the room. "...where is she?" It was unclear who she meant, as she looked past her family, beyond their faces as if searching for someone else. Her eyes were clear, however; focused intently even if she was unable to move easily without pain. "Where is she? I'll gut her!" she snarled suddenly, teeth bared, her expression needing to make due for a threatening posture while she was laid out like this. Then, realization or perhaps memory seemed to return and her eyes widened before fixing on her parents. She reached for her mother who was closest, gripping her arm with surprising strength. "Mom, where's Aunt 'Tia? Is she okay? We gotta'...gotta' get her. Before she gets too far..." Her thoughts were swimming, and much as she wanted to leap out of bed and go on a murderous, vengeance-fueled rampage, she had to admit that the way the room was spinning meant she was likely not exactly fit for such things. Shaking her head slightly, she released Luna's arm and reached up to rub her head tiredly.

The Chieftain held back respectfully as her family closed in on the waking pegasus. He was truly relieved that as bad as this was, that it had not turned out worse. They could not hope for such luck in the future. Measures would have to be taken...he would not see any of his people in such danger again, not while he could help it.

He was not trying to eavesdrop, assuming that such reunions would be a private family matter, but the snarled words of the injured young woman caught his ear. He didn't mean to be insensitive, or seem so, but he had other concerns that were coming to the forefront, now that it was clear that the girl seemed to be on the mend. Hopefully his second would forgive him the interruption.

Nearing, he placed a hand on Mo's shoulder in silent apology before proceeding. "Get...who, young one?" Yes, he was sympathetic towards the family for their near loss....yet, if the girl was on the mend, and there were any hope of catching the culprit in time, her testimony could be the key they needed. Something more concrete than a mysterious attacker in the night.

Twinkletoes' ears perked as people shifted and began to cluster towards her waking sister. Her eyes widened softly at Wild Moon's smile of... relief? was it? and she placed a hand to the window, wanting desperately to be at her sister's side with them. However, the commotion already emanating from the room sounded as plain as day... no matter how quiet those within the room attempted to be in the moment.

She watched on in silence, eyes shifting back and forth as Moony stirred and began to speak.

She?... Her?

Twinkletoes' ears rolled backward and her eyes grew mildly dark for a moment. Plans started formulating in her mind, but her worry for her sister in the moment kept her pinned to the branch. She wanted to hear more. To find out just what had happened...

Mo let out a shaky exhale, only just now realizing that he had been holding it for a moment. She was safe. Her usual fight was still prominent which proved to be a good thing. Moony was always a bit of a troublemaker and always was rambunctious. Seeing her so eager to continue fighting back - even in such a weak state - made him feel relieved in the moment. And proud, to say the least.

However, his own eyes darkened as she continued. By the sound of it, it was one lone female. A powerful one to take on two fauns on her own and cause this much damage. He knew the Alicorn Princess, Celestia, had a few battle tricks up her own sleeves, so two against one had to be some sort of feat. He inwardly hoped the other was just as badly - if not more so - damaged in the outcome of this fight.

Rage then rippled through his form. He wanted Justice. He wanted to fight whoever this female was. Injure her more so than she had managed to do to his own flesh and blood. His lips parted to begin demanding answers from his recovering child, however the hand on his shoulder made him flinch a bit and he turned his gaze upward to latch eye contact with his Chief. In that moment, he bit his tongue and forced himself to calm. Moony didn't need to wake up to more panic and anger and get attacked again. Even if the attack in this case would have been completely verbal. Getting angry now would solve nothing.

He mentally thanked the Chief for being there now. Had he not been, he'd have probably drifted to the dark side, as would have his beloved - Luna - he was sure. He forced his inner rage to calm and cease, turning his full attention back to her, listening for her response.

Frowning, Wild Moon continued to stay back out of the way, watching as his sister seemed to wake, still ready and waiting for a fight. His ears flickered back and forth as Moony spoke, his mind concentrating on the word she.

Some female, somewhere, had attacked his sister then? But who? Could it have been Sparrow? Would she have even done that? No...she couldn't have.... it had to be someone else.

Turning back to glance at Twinkletoes, he caught her eyes growing dim, knowing plans were already forming in her head. He cast her a questioning gaze through the window.

The sound of the snarls only set the dark princess backwards in her moment of calmness. Her fists clenched as her daughter growled, speaking the words she and her. The continued questions of this 'her' person burned into her mind, her eyes narrowing and blazing.

For those few seconds she had forgotten the mention of her sister being attacked as well, at least Moony had mentioned Celestia. "Celestia is downstairs, do not worry." she said briskly, before turning to cast her gaze on both Mo and Rais.

"If someone has hurt my daughter and my sister, I wish for them to pay!" she declared, her tone loud, near Royal Canterlot level, but not quite so just yet. She glanced over at Mo, as if expecting his full support right then and there at the drop of a dime. "Someone must pay, even if I have to see to it myself!" she growled, stamping a hoof, her tone getting louder and louder. It took all she had to take a deep breath and bring herself back down a few pegs, but that wouldn't last long.

Her wings were already flared, as if she were prepared to bust right on out of the tree if she had too. Her gaze flickered back to the Chief, rationality not exactly her strong point at the moment. "We must not waste time then! They must be found!" she stated angrily, the might force of a peeved off mother winding its gears back into full swing. By the night, she would have this fiend caught and imprisoned!

While relieved to hear that her aunt was okay and recovering, all that knowledge did was remove the final distracting worry that kept Moonlight from focusing on the true target of her fury. The growing tension in the room had increased her agitation long before her mother started raising her voice. That wasn't helping, of course.

Snarling now, the pegasus started trying to struggle her way into an upright position, already pondering shifting to her feral form again. Oh, how she wanted to feel her fangs sink into tender flesh; hear the screams of the cursed winged thing that had dared attack her and her aunt... "Lemme up! Imma' kill that b***h myself--"

The room was descending to chaos. Eyes narrowing grimly, the Chieftain wasted no further time in lifting his voice with the tone of command, "SILENCE!" He punctuated the order with a stomp of his hoof; it was unclear whether it was the stomp or Laisidhiel herself who created the accompanying rumble that shook the floor. Rais moved from one Faun to the next with his eyes, fixing his gaze on each. "No one move a fur's breadth, understand me?!?"

Moonlight's glare was filled with hate, but also frustration seeing the weakness in herself. She could barely pull herself up. She was trembling. When the Chieftain's eyes fixed on her, she seemed to waver, thinking twice, then with a sigh of resignation, settled back and dropped her stare to the floor.

Ranuin had frozen, stock still over by the wall, though he'd made no signs of movement before the Chieftain's order. He'd watched Moonlight with more concern, as well as unconsciously balking from the angry princess of the night. Eyes darting between the Chieftain and the upset family at Moony's bedside, he remained tense until at least Moonlight dropped her glare and seemed to withdraw, if unwillingly.

Glaring at each member of his Adviser's family, including the other two children nearest the window, he had fixed each with a glower before being sure that no one was about to bolt from the room in a foolish rage. Only when he was sure of having everyone's undivided attention did he continue in a more normal volume, if a no less commanding tone, "I assure you all, I do not take the matter of an attack on one of my people lightly. However, neither will I have anyone rushing out into the early dawn in a berserk rage only to add to the tally of wounded. Do I make myself clear?"

Taking a deep breath, visibly calming himself and hoping that those gathered would take the same hint, Rais turned towards Luna and addressed her in an even tone. "I have hunters set to move on my command. If the culprit is anywhere on the island, we will find them. But, it would help to know what we're looking for, would it not?"

Seeing that Moonlight wasn't about to try to scramble out of the sickbed and fall on the floor, he turned his attentions back to her. "Now, child, if you would, tell us what happened and anything else you can remember about your attacker."

Mo opened his mouth softly, softly encouraging his daughter to remain still and rest. However, the words that left her lips...

Mo knew that he had never used such language in front of the children before. How she came to know such fowl expression, he'll never know. His mouth then parted for another reason, ready to scold the young Pegasus for her outburst, but again his mouth shut in an instant to another outburst entirely.

Once the room had fallen quiet to listen to Rais, he draped an arm around Luna and whispered in hopes to reassure her that things would be handled in time. He only hoped that she would believe those words more than he himself did.

Twinkletoes nearly fell off her branch at the Chief's outburst. She whimpered and clamped her hands over her ears for a moment, before his calmer tones began ringing through the walls.

She silently fumed - much like her sister - her feathers ruffling with the itch to chase down the culprit responsible, but she stuck around to hear more of what Moonlight had to say. The more she knew about who or what she was contemplating chasing after, the better, right?

Another loud voice, near louder than her own, managed to catch the dark fauny princess off guard as her icy glare turned and focused squarely on Rais. If it had been a day in the past, Luna felt she might have gone off on him, but she wasn't in power here, not anymore. And as angry as she was, Rais was their best hope now of catching whoever did this to her baby girl. Shutting her eyes and taking a deep breath, she clenched her fists tightly. At the same time she leaned her head on Mo's shoulder, listening to his whispered words and waiting for Moony to gather her strength and deliver her version of the events.

Taking a deep breath, the dark pegasus tried to organize her thoughts, pushing aside the feelings of rage and helplessness that plagued her at the moment. Maybe if she couldn't get her own revenge, it was better that someone quick could do it for her. And if they failed, well...when she got better...

"I was just out for a walk with Auntie 'Tia," she started quietly, though her stare was fixed on her hands resting on the blanket. "We weren't even that far out," she said defensively, though her memory was fuzzy...perhaps it had been further than she thought. She related how they'd been blinded by a sudden bright light, then she'd felt something at her neck, trying to take her protection token and lashed out in response finding flesh with her teeth.

"It was one of those Blood Pae, Auntie always warns about," she admitted, twisting the blanket between her fingers in a mixture of anxiety and frustration. "The ones with wings like pegasi and...the floaty ring things over their heads. That's...the 'angel' ones, right?" She'd never really seen one before, so she was having to guess. When she glanced up and saw the Chieftain nod at her, she continued. "She didn't seem that old. Younger than me. Smaller too. She wanted one of our protection tokens. Said she'd just take one when we refused to give her one. That's when the fight started." After a sigh, she related what she remembered of the skirmish, shame warming her cheeks when she got to the part where her anger had been her undoing. It was stupid and she knew that in retrospect. Of course. So easy to look back and see it. She'd nearly gotten herself killed AND she'd lost her token.

Rais listened attentively, but sensing the young pegasus withdrawing, having finished her story, he spoke up to bring her back to the moment. "I won't assume you got her name. What did she look like?"

"It was dark-" she started to object, then thought back. While she'd been shifted, before she'd let her anger take over... "She was pale colored, what skin I could see. But with smears of color. I think I saw her wings in the fight...pale like her, but the tips...dark...like stains of blood..."

The Chieftain frowned deeply, then nodded. "I'll pass this along to our hunters. Maybe I can see if your Aunt noticed anything else. Thank you. Please...try to rest. All of you. You're safe here." He turned to go, briefly resting a reassuring hand on Mo's shoulder on his way out.

Mo remained silent.

He listened intently to his daughter, letting the chief take over in the moment of asking all the necessary questions and such.

He mentally stored all she recalled for when he managed to go out of the tree and... 'stretch his legs.' Not that he had any plans to actively go looking for anything that cause harm to his own flesh and blood, but the thought may have crossed his mind.

He gave a solemn node of thanks to Rais as he left, feeling the wear of lack of sleep tug at him again. Mo sighed deeply as he patted Moony's hand. "Get some rest, sweetheart." he spoke softly. He then looked briefly over everyone else in the room, his eyes landing lastly to Luna. "We all should." He figured that if he restated what Rais had told them they would be more inclined to follow the order than to merely consider it an option.

With that being said, he stood and moved to a seat near the door. Leaning his back against the wall, he crossed his arms over his chest and watched the others to see if they'd follow suit.

Twinkletoes sighed. She didn't want to wait. She didn't want to rest. She didn't want to sleep! She wanted to find all the answers.

She frowned, hugging her knees a moment. She stared at the ground as she fell lost in thought a moment.

Then she looked back inside, mostly everyone had settled down, others were making moves. She cut a glance at her father - he was obviously keeping his droopy eyes on Moony now. And her mother? Luna was doing much the same. Wild Moon was the last one she looked to. Her eyes then darkened slightly and with expert silence, she stood and stretched her wings, allowing them to glide her down to ground level.

Once her hooves touched dirt, she stared through the surrounding trees, nose twitching slightly. Moony's, Ranuin's and Aunt Tia's scent was still there... extremely faint, but the trail led off into those woods...

Her hooves remained rooted where she stood. She was torn.

She wasn't going to go looking for a fight. Just some more clues. But at the same time, even the Chief told them all to stay with the tree... If she disobeyed that order... well, she shuddered to think what her parents would say and do. Nevermind Rais at that point...

Still... the urge was so great... even her inner fox was encouraging her...

What to do...? what to do................?

Luna listened intently to Moony's story, making sure to take in every detail mentally, noting down any physical details her child could give. She was about to proclaim they should go out looking now, when Rai's spoke. She glanced over to him, her eyes narrowed. She shook her head, only to meet Mo's gaze as he too insisted upon rest.

Her inner emotions were at war with each other, wanting to obey both her Cheif and especially her fiancee, but at the same time she hated them. She hated them for not rushing out to do anything right now, right this instant and forced herself to remain where she was.

A dark hand pressed against her forehead as she let out a sigh, not saying anything as she stepped back to find a chair and sit down. She shot Mo another look, one that could be a kin to something along the lines of..

I am so mad at you right now. I love you with all my heart but I am beyond angry.

WIld Moon sighed one her story was over, as if a weight had been lifted of his own chest. Looking down to his sister, he reached out to gently touch her hand and smiled at her before looking up to nod at the Chief. "Rest would be good for us all..." he said softly, eyeing his parents, deciding not to step into the middle of whatever silent battle they may be having.

Instead he turned to the window to look for Twinkletoes, only managing to catch the end of her wing tips as they descended out of sight. Running a hand through his caramel space hair, he turned back to the others in the room. "I'm going to go check on Twinkle, please stay here and rest." he said, more so to his parents than to anyone else.

Giving them a nod, he hurried from the room, down the few flights of stairs, and out towards the large doors into the outside world. He paused momentarily, allowing his senses to adjust to the scents of nature, sifting through to pick up the trace of his other sister. Once he had managed to pin point her direction, he headed over that way until he found her stationary figure, peering at the tree's beyond. "Twinkle..." he said softly, reaching out to rest a hand gently on her shoulder before turning his golden gaze in the same direction as hers.

Having done his best to stay out of the way during all the serious discussions, Ranuin only felt more awkward after the Chieftain left and told everyone to get some rest. Rest sounded like a good idea for everyone, sure...but maybe he'd find elsewhere to do so rather than intruding on the family further.

He noted that Moony's parents seemed to be settling in while Wild Moon said something about checking on Twinkle and headed out of the room. Still, best he take the opportunity to take his leave as well. Nodding respectfully in the direction of her parents, he moved briefly to the side of Moony's cot and took her hand. "I'm...glad you're okay," he murmured, relief obvious in his voice. "I'm gonna' let you and your family rest, but...it's...just good to know you're okay." He ducked down swiftly, but carefully, to give her a hug before leaving. He missed the look of surprise that flickered over her face, as he turned to go immediately afterwards.

He didn't want to show how much it had shaken him to be the one turning her bleeding, limp body over to the healers. He didn't want to show how much it had terrified him to have to wait anxiously for news, to try and sit out of sight and out of mind, out of the way, while expecting to hear the worst. To know then that something had gotten his friend...something he could have possibly stopped if he'd been there to protect her...if he could have only known...

Shaking his head, Ranuin realized he'd wandered out of the infirmary and down the ramp of the Tree to the main floor, pausing near the great archway. His dark eyes flickered out towards the early dawn light, pondering whether sleep would even be possible, despite how exhausted he felt. Worry took a lot out of a Faun.

Only then did he notice the two siblings standing outside, staring off into the distance. He wasn't the only one who had needed some air, it seemed.
