You find an injured mouse. You can either retrieve it as a snack for Never Idle and his cranes (Success!) or you can rescue it. If you rescue it, post a link in THIS THREAD to the post and a note that it's for the mouse, to be entered into a drawing for a mouse!
Back on the trail, still carrying the leaf (now a fabulous fashion accessory worn on his head), Wasp soon spotted...another mouse. This one was small, a newborn, still furless, and appeared to be abandoned by its mother. "Oh dear, oh dear," Wasp said to himself, gently picking up the tiny creature and depositing it on his back. "Well, I know just the kin to take care of you, don't I?"

Long, winding ribbons of paper birch bark litter the ground, carefully peeled down by some unknown kin or animal. They weren't anything he asked for, but they sure are pretty...
Wasp returned to the birch tree to pick up some more bark, carefully shredding it onto his leaf to make a nice bed for the tiny mouse. Then he loosely rolled up the bundle and continued on his way.

Your nosy poking around has disturbed an angry old mare, who chases you off her land. You escape without incident.
It turned out an old mare wanted the birch bark for herself. Wasp didn't think old mares really needed birch bark more than newborn mice, and he said so. Naturally, she disagreed, and Wasp felt a good escape was in order.

You find a plant of absolutely intoxicating scent, surrounded by hummingbirds. It proves impossible to transport their nectar, but nothing's stopping you from sampling some while you're here.
After escaping from the old bat, Wasp found himself in an unfamiliar part of the swamp. A sweet scent assaulted his nostrils, and soon he located the source of the smell: a large flower swarming with hummingbirds. He took a taste of the flower's nectar himself and nodded his approval, but there was no way he could bring it back to Never Idle, certainly not while carrying around the mouse bundle. So he continued searching.

A beautiful song pulls you away from your search. You find a fledgeling songbird, which is undergoing its first moult--the perfect age for bonding. Post a link in this thread to this roll with a note that it's for the bird drawing to be entered for a songbird!
Nearby Wasp discovered the hummingbirds' nests, and on the ground a small fledgling. The bird was decidedly not a hummingbird: one of those nest parasites that had been raised by hapless hummingbirds instead of their own offspring. Wasp was going to leave it at first, then reconsidered - perhaps its warmth would be good for the tiny mouse. So he carefully unwrapped his bundle and nudged the bird inside, then wrapped both mouse and bird up together.

You find an ideal log. Unfortunately, rolling it free of the bracken it's trapped in and getting it back to the construction site will require some assistance! Help required. Success!
Wasp came across a good, sturdy log, but it was stuck fast in bracken and he certainly couldn't manage to move it and take care of his bundle all at once. So he went off to find someone to help.

And who should he happen upon once more but Wild Sage, now with a crude sling around his neck. "I can't help but notice you've gotten more animals already," Sage said with a smirk. "Do you have a hoarding problem or something?"

"Not me, my brown-furred friend, but I'm pretty sure you do!" With that, Wasp unceremoniously dumped his bundle on Sage's back. "I still need that leaf, though. And now, I have a decidedly different problem." Wasp indicated the log in front of them. "I also need this log."

"Oh hell," he muttered, peeking into the bundle, "I didn't sign up for this. Can't decline, though," he sighed. "Just help me get 'em in the sling, and I'll help you move that thing.
"... heh, I rhymed," he added after a beat.

"You know you'll like them!" Wasp said as he unrolled the bundle and piled mouse, bird, and bark into Sage's sling. That done, he and Sage rolled the log back to Never Idle's workshop, where Wasp finally, proudly presented Never Idle with his ragged leaf. Never Idle didn't look too pleased about it.
