Some of the trees in the Swamp produce leaves as large as an animal hide. You find one now, but climbing up the roots and standing on your hindlegs to procure the perfect specimen is exhausting, and you're out of energy for the day. Try again tomorrow. Success!
Up the tree, along the roots, balance carefully, don't fall, snip the leaf stem, don't ruin it.
The Killing Moon called to Echo and the Eaglehound came. He placed the leaf along her back and together they returned to Never Idle with the prize. That was enough for the day, the sunlight was nearly gone and he was tired.
The buck found a comfortable place nearby and settled down to sleep.

Day 2 Start! Success Count: 2
You find a marvelously-intact shed snakeskin.
With the next day came the rain. It woke Killing Moon early and without moments he was soaked, his hair plastered to his cheek and neck. Not a good omen for today's search, but he was already drenched and there was no point seeking shelter.
The buck set out, wading through the mud and blinked the water from his eyes. Eventually, in the back of small dry cave, he found the snakeskin. If he moved it, it would simply be ruined, so he left it behind as he continued on.

The lynx population was clearly in decline.
He stepped over the third skull and walked on.

Long, winding ribbons of paper birch bark litter the ground, carefully peeled down by some unknown kin or animal. They weren't anything he asked for, but they sure are pretty...
He'd seen these before, except now the rain had ruined their usefulness.
The Killing Moon put his head to the sky and sighed.

A pile of iridescent beetleshells, collected by some bowerbird, glistens in the underbrush.
Someone had been hard at work, Killing Moon thought as he poked through a pile of beetleshells.
Echo chose that moment to return, with Fate behind her. The wolf had a bowerbird hanging proudly from its jaws.

You thought you found the perfect branch--but it snaps cleanly in two when you try to move it. Argh!
One wrong move and the branch snapped in half. The Killing Moon stepped back with a snort of annoyance. He lifted a hoof and slammed it down on one of the halves, grinding it down until he sudden frustration had abated.

You find an ideal log. Unfortunately, rolling it free of the bracken it's trapped in and getting it back to the construction site will require some assistance! Help required. Success!
"This one looks good," said as he circled the log. It seemed all the best finds were caught up in bracken, not to mention the rain (which had thankfully begun to abate) had left the mossy log slippery.
Rolling the muscles along his shoulder, The Killing Moon moved forward to give it his best shot anyway. It was too much to hope for another random kin to appear.

Nights Glory was wandering around when he spotted the buck attempting to move a a log out of the bracken. "Hello, there! Looks like you need some help?"

"I do indeed," The Killing Moon answered with a laugh. "You have good timing. If you'd be so inclined..."Having some experience in the matter, he ordered the new buck into position and gave instructions as they worked together to shift the log. It was hard work, but the two eventually got it where it needed to be. "Thank you. Should you ever need a free meal, seek out Rise & Co. and say my name."

The Killing Moon has successfully retrieved two logs and a leaf, leaving them near Never Idle's work-space along with a few other choice items that perhaps the Legendary could find use for on another day. The red buck didn't bother waiting to find out what exactly Never Idle was up to, he was sure he would wander back one day and find out, but for now he needed to seek a quiet place to rest and reflect.
The sudden return to purpose and having a task to accomplish had reminded him of home. It left his heart aching and he knew that with his journey just beginning, it wouldn't be the last time he felt a keen homesickness. The freedom of leaving everything behind was balanced by that bitter longing and it was both feelings he needed to embrace.
As the clouds dispersed, the buck pushed through the wet undergrowth until he found an open hill. He marched to the stop and stood, mud splattered along his legs and side, his hair a bedraggled mess... and he smiled. Wasn't this everything he wanted? This was the moment he had needed.
When the sun pushed through, gleaming off the raindrops, he slipped away back down the hillside. Behind him, like two ghosts, padded Echo and Fate, ever watchful and ever loyal.
