He nudged Luck's side. "I found something you might like." He pulled the four-leafed clover from his tail and laid it beside Luck. "Reminded me of you."

Luck whuffled with delight. "Oh! Thank you, it's amazing!" He beamed. "Should I wear it or eat it?" The last was a bit teasing.

He chuckled, shaking his head in amusement. "I don't care. But I found something that Never Idle needs, and I was wondering if you could help me move it."

Having decided to keep the clover, he tucked it into his own tailtuft and stretched out, moving to stand. "Of course. Lead the way, dear."

He reared slightly in excitement and trotted off again, leading Luck unerringly back to the log he'd found. "He needs this," he proclaimed, proud of it.

Having followed Moon, Luck paused and peered down at the log. "It's a muddy gross log," he replied, not sure why anyone would need a gross muddy log. "But I'm glad you found it anyway!"

He looked at it, then back to Luck. "I don't know why he needs it, but it's what he asked for. C'mon, help me untangle it and roll it to his place." He got into the mess and started snapping vines.

He watched for a moment, then said slowly, "if we leave some vines on, we can drag it by the vines and not have to roll it so much."

He paused, then considered this. "Well, that's a great idea. Wish I'd thought of it." He grinned, then set to digging. "Hold onto some of the vines and try to pull it."

Leaning over, Luck grabbed hold of a few of the sturdiest vines with his mouth. He whuffled, set his hooves, and -pulled-.

With some strategic digging, Moon finally got it dug out and slogged through the mud to help Luck pull. Once it was free it was a lot easier to drag it all the way to Never Idle. Afterwards, they took a long hot spring bath and he made sure Luck ate.

17. The jellyfish are migrating: a beautiful, luminscent, floating cloud of jellyfish high in the sky above you distracts you momentarily from your task.
The next morning dawned misty and cool, and he nuzzled Luck before he trotted out again. The refraction of the morning light spotted colors down, and he looked up to see a veritable rainbow of jellyfish, floating lazily over the trees. He sat down on their favorite sunning rock, watching them drift off to wherever they were going. He lifted his head and crooned a soft song to speed them on their way.

30. You find an injured mouse. You can rescue it.
Not long after the jellyfish had disappeared over the trees, and he'd gone on his way, the soft squeakings of a mouse interrupted his thoughts. He found it after some searching, in a patch of rosemary, licking a paw. He felt instant pity for it, and daintily helped it by nudging it back home for Luck to nurse.

27. A Kin has died here, perhaps this past winter. Its carcass has long since decayed to merely bones, and on a tree above its resting place someone has scrawled the symbol for a name, and a shape like a ripple in a still pool. Strangely, they have accompanied the marker with the symbol for a safe place.
It seemed that death was balancing the life he'd just saved. Later in the morning he found the bones strewn over the bottom of the gully in the farthest south end of their valley. The birch tree over them glowed as white as the bones, the mark in blue in the place of a broken off limb. He hadn't been down here all winter, knowing that it was the first place to flood. It looked like someone hadn't known that. He sighed, whispered a song for the dead, and moved on.
