Roland only offered small sad smile, a knowing one that suggested he knew what it was like to be this flustered during a spar, especially when the person they fought was going as easy as he was. It was almost relaxing in a strange way, being the mentor and not attacking and instead taking a chance to teach.
"Yes, weapons change as you get a deeper bond with them, and each hunter can only wield their weapon. I've heard of others borrowing another Hunters weapon." He paused for a moment recalling stories of Candace and titled his head a bit in wonder. "However it's not really a good idea since weapons weight and personality only mesh with the original owner. If I tried to use your hammer I'd have a hard time picking it up let alone swinging it most likely."
Again he spun Sylvia about, his hands hitting all the right spots in her jagged twisted form in a way that still allowed him to spin her about. "Sylvia used to be much more smooth, less twisted and jagged... I guess you can say I've had a rough past year, all my mistakes, all my problems, all my fears are twisted into her, and all of her's as well."
When she stepped back he nodded, not minding the space at all, it was almost Nevada-esq the way she closed the space albeit without half the suggestive nature and all the innocence of a child. It felt like a knife in the gut.
"Fear, yeah, it's the charge." He didn't move as she lunged to attack, her weapon hitting something just before it could reach Roland, a barrier faintly displayed by twisting dust and grass that blasted outward with a piercing howl that threw her backwards.
"Sylvia was a banshee, one of her abilities is to shield me with a barrier of noise, it used to fail sometimes but now, now it works pretty well." His smile was a playful one again, "Your weapon has one too, it should be ready now. Go ahead and try it my barrier should still be holding."

The Sensei did mention about the sole compatibility of hunter weapon so she nodded while she listened to his elaboration. Z threatened to bite his hands off if he dare to touch him.
The Nian commented as the hunter spun his scythe as if he was juggling, the girl's eyes widened in amusement at the smooth action, but had her brow knitted as he explained the jagged appearance of his weapon. She should give him a big warm hug.
Her weapon rebutted as the feeble barrier pushed her back roughly. First, she greeted his weapon, "Nice to meet you Sylvia." and then she smiled to Roland. "Mine is a bit different, it's not a barrier type but a - stronger and crazy attack? I guess....oh this is Z." She waved her hammer. "I don't seem to manage Z 's fear well, it's hard to avoid being hit back....I will show you!"
She trotted back at a distance, and called, "I-I am ready."
Taking a deep breathe, the petite girl holding her weapon started to spin herself, gradually from slow to fast. The runes on the hammer flickered happily as she went, urging her to spin even faster. Soon, a dragging force formed around the shortie, several leaves and grasses were flying around her while the rotation continued. When Roland thought it would take forever, a ball detached from the hammer and flied towards the hunter. It gave a very short illusion of a beast bounced onto him fiercely with opened mouth.
The poor girl was once again dizzied but she wasn't knocked down, just a few cut on her face and uncovered thighs from the sharp flying grasses.

Sylvia only huffed a bit, a sign that her opinions on the change where tied more with him then her, before seeming to silently watch the small hunger and her pink hammer.
It wasn't visible but he wore the scar of a mistake, he pissed off a fair number of people, upset a few friends, struck someone he card about and lost them three times over. He was anything but damaged to a degree.
"Sylvia says hello as well,"
<< You're lying, >>
"That was a lie, she's being moody."
The temptation to say something smart was withheld by the scythe but Roland was quiet aware that the criticism of his own actions lately was on the tip of her tongue. "I've seen those kinds of attacks, Sylvia has one as well. Fear isn't clean cut or focused sometimes, it depends on the weapon and the wielder how it reacts"
Pacing away from her he continued to hold his weapon over his shoulder turning to face her head cocked curious what her weapon would do. It was much like his own build up, slowly he shifted Sylvia into both hands holding her up across his body waiting when the ball suddenly snapped out, a flicker of a beast and a slamming sensation that pushed him back in the dirt as the last of barrier screamed it's self out of existence and the hit connected with his shield.
Shaking his head he moved closer to Shu again, "Ours is like the barrier, it's sound, a storm of noise so sharp instead of blocking and being a wall it cuts through the air in every direction. It's hard for weapons to heal and maintain a shield while throwing out these attacks, other times they over work the body and push it to the point it might break bones or rip muscles hence the back lash to our shields."
Once in range Sylvia snaked out sweeping Shu by the legs trying to leave her in the dirt, "And the most important lesson, never let your guard down in a fight."

Oh the scythe was a "she", Sylvia seemed a lovely name, she wondered what her personality liked. Moody? The girl giggled. "T-they have more than one FEAR that can be used?" That was something new. "A-are you okay?" As he fell and sat on the ground, she was worried. Z's attack was rather powerful and she couldn't control the strength she used well. He got up and walked closer, explaining to her that how their FEAR worked. Roland also talked about the back slash, which was something she was bothered since she used Z's fear the first time, their second FEAR should be the same type as hers. She was so concentrated that the assault made she yelped as she fell down and landed by her butt. She blinked and blinked, blinked and then blinked again, couldn't figure out what just happened.
That was really a harsh lesson for her and she shall repay ;w;
The girl got up, dusted herself, mumbled about her new coat before dashing forward like a bullet and swung her hammer.
With the shield, both of them should be alright.

"Every weapon can learn more, some increase the original one into a similar variation, it all varies weapon to weapon." He really did feel bad about that Shu, you wouldn't believe it but he really did. Especially after all your worry from hitting him in the first place. When she sat on the ground trying to sort out what had happened he simply stood there Sylvia resting, blade hooked lazily over his shoulder like an over sized walking cane while she got herself sorted out. When she suddenly bolted at him he gave a curious look before he took a hammer to the shoulder causing him to stumble sideways. After she was done he only grinned a bit. "I probably deserved that." " I probably deserved that." He said, and didn't defend at all. " You deserve it!" The pathetic tone of Roland resonated with a familiar voice from the past. It was dark and cold, and she was alone. The girl slowly put down her weapon, just stood there and said nothing, she was in her memories. "You deserve it! Your existence is a curse, both of you! See what you did to him, he won't get hurt if you were not there. You deserve it and you should know." The door slammed aloud, leaving her curled up in a dark confined space and starving.......
<å–‚!> Z's call brought her back to the present, it passed but the sorrow was still there, lingering. She closed her eyes, and took a deep breathe, sinking all the thoughts deep down in her heart. "Please don't say that!" She looked at him with a frown. "Remember? I ask for it first, so you don't have any responsibility for what happened to me during it." She smiled sweetly. "And you have been teacher me through it! It's all your kindness. You might be serious in this spar that you didn't hold back, I am happy that you treat me like an opponent. I am alright, just a bit surprised, you see~" She sticked her tongue out, leaped and turned around. "Actually I didn't hurt much, just some tiny pains." She paused, the smile became serious face again. "So - please don't say any bad things about yourself." I am the one who deserves it...maybe.
There was a smile on her face, with a hidden bitterness within.

He'd seen that face before, maybe it was Peyton, it could have been Nevada, he had sure as hell seen it cross Jordan a few times with the way their friendship had gone. It was the past, maybe the recent past or the past they ran away from home but they where looking back at something. Even if just for a moment.
Finally she snapped too, her reaction wasn't exactly what he expected, perhaps a complaint or an objection, instead she seemed rather okay with the rudeness of his impromptu lesson and that in turn brought a smile to his face, or maybe it was just the childish way she hopped about that made her seem so innocent compared to other hunters.
"Be glad it happens here, the things we fight, they won't be so nice, other hunters won't always be so nice." He shifted his shoulder letting Sylvia fall off and into his hand again moving to lift her up in both as he watched her.
"I'll be honest." He leveled the weapon pointing the bladed hook for a head towards Shu, "I think deep down we're all kind of bad people here." The image of Nevada, Sylvia in his hands catching her off guard, the bruise it left before her weapon registered what was happening. "But we're trying to do the right thing, and be good people." His own smile hid the bitterness of his own memories.
He stepped forward again, Scythe arching above his head and around again to catch her from the side, a light blow almost a tap compared to his other attacks.
"I just don't want to make the mistakes others have."

He wasn't the first one to warn her of her naivety, and won't be the last one. She knew she didn't experience enough, people she met had been treated her nicely, no one had hurt the girl, no one had cheated her. Pain was never a unfamiliar thing for her yet she didn't know what a hunter truly meant. She partly agreed with Roland, the nightmare that she encountered the aggressive O hunter sentries, they were not nice. Also, from the conversation with Rep, she learned that being hunter is stressful, so sometimes they needed a way to give vent to pressure through the others. The petite girl didn't rebut, but nodded and nodded. If she could choose, she'd better think everyone is a good person, because malice is such a dreadful thing. They can come without a reason and it hurts much. "I can see that......" No one wants to hurt others, if they do so, it's just they prefer not to hurt themselves merely. The light tap that Roland regarded as was quite a hit for her, but she endured with it. She was good at endurance, thinking of that, the scar on her leg itches. "I don't either." He must have gone through a lot of failures to say so, it was so hard to imagine as a new trainee. Z, how much does the shield left? <....Um, less than one-forth. Better stop if you can, silly.> She unconsciously nodded, with a tread pushing her forward, she attacked from a higher angle. The gravity aided to add some extra forces onto Roland and it was a hard one. She wanted to show him she was not treating it as a game either, she was serious and she respected him. The hammer's runes were flickering, and Z's delight seemed to affect her also.

The pain in his own scar had long since passed, Sylvia had done her best to ease the burden of it, it was only a mark, a reminder of mistakes and poor choices. A heavy one, but one that he had made.
He watched her still, raising Sylvia up ready for whatever she might muster for an attack, she wanted a spar, she would get one. Thankfully things where in place to protect her, to protect all of them from ending up as others had before on the training ground.
Her hammer came down high and hard, driving him to his knee, he pushed back standing up using Sylvia to put room between him and Z, pushing the hammer up to give him room, suddenly he was twisting to the side, letting Z's weight tug her arm down as he spun about leaving a nasty slash against her back followed by a short kick to push her away.
"We all make mistakes, even if we try not too."

When her hammer was pushed up, she knew something wrong. As she expected, she lost balance the next moment and stumbled. Since the shield nearly all gone, she could feel the scratch across her back followed by a kick. She immediately fell onto the ground by he knees but a feeling of aggrieve made she promptly made her stance and swung her hammer, targeting his leg. "But we learn from our mistakes, right?" She grinned impishly.

Okay I lied I'm writing a post
Roland was standing behind her, Sylvia planted on the ground like a flag post as the girl was sent tumbling, he didn't really expect her to continue but she seemed to be pushing herself to the very last drop of her shield.
Her hammer swept low knocking his feet from under him, but a quick roll brought him back up. "The trick is to not let your mistakes kill you. Literally or figuratively."
Stepping forward from his roll he brought Sylvia back one last time before slashing forward in a motion that would have taken Shu's head if not for the dampeners that suddenly burst into life, a few runes in the dirt flashing suddenly to absorb the blow where her shield surely wouldn't.
"Back when I started, and I picked a fight. We didn't have Barriers. I almost lost an arm out here. Hell, there's one girl who did lose an arm."

She was just a teenager girl, so she acted stupidly, without considering what consequences will be, even Z had many to say about her imbecility. She didn't listen and struck back, a smile appeared on her face for the hit before the scythe would take her life.
The trainee felt her heart skipped a beat and then throbbed as if it wanted to get out from her. She heard what the hunter said, but she didn't respond, just a few centimeters and the attack would get her. ....So close. A cold sweat slid down from her forehead together with a tear.
Sorry.
The silence restored from Z's scolding. Z? Why I didn't get hurt? What are those - symbols? <...You don't know.> I don't. Can you lower your voice, it hurts Q_Q
She wanted to ask more, but Z didn't say anything no matter how many times she asked. Talking to him calmed her from the shock, she finally could reply Roland. "I-I won't!" She said, without much assurance. What he continued to say startled her again, too much information wasn't a good thing sometimes. No barrier?! She didn't want to imagine how dangerous and risky to fight without the shield, especially for newbie like her.
"L-L-Lost an arm?!" She yelled, she didn't expect that was what she got from sparring, but she encouraged the hunter to go on.

Roland was frowning, it was a sad frown, the kind of frown you did when you where both proud of someones actions but you knew you had to tell them what they did was a bad idea.
He stood back after the runes died down, Sylvia vanishing from his hands, a small silver ear ring dangling from his right ear, a replica of the weapon scaled down to hang there.
"You have to know when to run, when to stop, when fighting any more is going to only result in something bad." Shifting he slid his arms out of his jacket, letting hit hang around his waist held up by a belt, next went the shirt revealing that Roland was indeed still a slim twig, slightly defined arms, and a huge gash running from his right shoulder into his chest, a twisted mess of scar tissue.
"As we all got stronger, some of us became a danger to each other when we sparred. Our weapons where capable of shattering barriers in a single swing if the conditions where right. Rin lost an arm, I nearly lost mine." He didn't mention it was from the same person.
"They developed the runes around the field to prevent that from happening, especially when older hunters sparred with Trainees." Done speaking he moved quickly to slip his shirt back on.
<< You should have kept the shirt off.... >>
Roland might have been blushing, a little, just a little.

The sad frown indicated the end of the spar, she took a deep deep breathe and relaxed, unsummoned Z also. His words were true but it still hurt because she knew he was disapproving her stupid actions, she clasped the necklace hanging around her neck. "I-I am sorry......" She lower her head. Then, her attention was caught by some rattling sounds, she looked up and saw Roland was - taking off his clothes one by one. Since it was not a quick process, she had enough time to blush shortly into a red tomato. W-Why is he stripping?! Z urged her to summon him so that he can knock his conscious out while using the f word in a interval of four words. However, when the hunter had his upper part naked, the panic stopped, replaced by a sense of sadness and pity. < W-Wait! What are you doing!> Z found his huntress slowly approached the hunter and reached out her tiny hand, unconsciously brushed over the scar gently. "Did it hurt?" She frowned with a sad look, looked up at Roland when she imagined how painful he was getting this nasty deep wound. It happened well before he put his clothes on again. The details that he gave was missed, and she was too busy blushing from what she did, hands flailing to reflect her flustering. "I-I am sorry!" She yelled with a bow. "I-I don't know why I did this...." Her voice tailed off. Miliardo Kason As you wish. jadklfsdjklkldfj I didn't notice he put his shirt on, so let it well before he put on his shirt? XD;

"Don't be sorry just be safer next time okay?" His voice was quiet, reasuring to some degree, confirming he wasn't really mad at her, just concerned about her best interest. Part of him quietly wondered if Nevada had followed that advice at all before they lost her.
Still while he had his shirt off he offered only a one armed shrug, his left shoulder rather then the mangled right one. "It hurt like hell. Like being on fire and stabbed with hundreds of little needles, then it was cold, numb, shock kicked in. He looked down at her probing fingers blushing slightly as she touched the scared flesh, twitching just slightly at the touch.
Just as soon as she was done touching he was back in his shirt proper scuffing his boot in the dirt, "Erm it's okay, I um... you probably haven't seen anything like that before... just don't try touching some of the weirder things around here... it might um end a lot worse..."
