Extremely proud of herself, the small green weyrling trotted into the dining hall carrying a bucket by its handle. In it, burried in hay to keep it warm and safe from impact, was a little stripey flitt egg. Going boldly up to the mother, Kleimeeth laid the offering before her and nosed away the hay so that the egg was exposed. There. Wasn't she happy? The brilliant Kleimeeth had returned her lost baby to her. She hoped everyone was watching.
Now, she'd promised her sister she'd help her look some more, but she had a feeling there'd be no more eggs for her to find there. No, she wanted to search somewhere new. A little diversion couldn't hurt.

Jemi
Jemi returned to the dinning hall and took a seat, setting down the two eggs she found before the queen. Egg 5 and Egg 25. She leaned back, waiting for her watch partner and hummed softly. She felt rather pleased with herself, finding three of the eggs.

Cai had left the kitchens in the direction of the dining hall and found himself immediately confronted by the sight of a handful of weyrfolk, numerous firelizards, and a small gold guarding a clutch of colorful eggs beside the fire.
It looked like his search for sand had become unnecessary. He set the pot down on a table (useless now) and deposited his carefully handled eggs into the sand by the little gold. Well at least now he wouldn't have to find a way to be rid of them before they hatched or fear they die.

She had little time to react when another human came and placed an egg before her and then left. Still she took the egg and rolled it towards the others. Her little group was growing and though with every egg that was returned was treasured by her, she still worried for the others that were missing. She was piling sand around the egg's base when the human returned with another egg in hand. Again his visit was brief and so she took the egg, which had been painted red and covered in stars and placed it into a carefully dug wallow.
That was ten eggs in total, approximately a third of her clutch had been returned to her by the thieves. There were so many of them. Footsteps approached and she turned to see a human place an egg in her midst. The gold watched as the human strolled out of the hall. Why did none of these humans seem to treat her with the respect she deserved? As she positioned the cream and purple egg the firelizard thought about how, at any other time, she would have made sure they did. At the moment though she needed to focus on making sure all her eggs were warm. Some had gotten worryingly cold in their absence.
The little firelizard was truly not expecting what happened next. It was hard for her not to notice the green dragon walking into the hall. Dragons were big, they went clumping around beaches and had been a risk to her eggs before. The firelizard stood in front of her eggs and flaired her wings. Even though Kleimeeth was just a baby, she was still very big to the gold firelizard and she would not give up her warm sanding patch to her. She tilted her head as the dragon placed a bucket in front of her and nosed about in it. What was the green doing? Once her nose was out of the bucket, the gold glided over and hovered above the bucket. Her egg was in there! The female carefully lifted the egg from the bucket and flew it to the others. She looked at the dragon curiously, the green was the first dragon to bring an egg back to her and dragons didn't steal eggs, they had their own eggs. It was a very curious situation.
The dragon left and the girl returned again, with two eggs this time. The gold watched her take a seat after checking her returned eggs over. They seemed to be in good health for their trial. The clutch was growing again at quiet a rate, that was a good sign. The two eggs stayed together as they were placed into one large groove and partially covered. The group was too big now for all the eggs to be touching, but the gold busied herself to get them where they wanted to go. Some preferred deeper sand, some didn't want to be that close to the hearth and other just refused to be separated or left together. It was a tricky task keeping all of the little ones happy.
Her musing was interrupted by yet another human placing two eggs with her. The firelizard stared at the two and then back at the others. This was wonderful! Half of her clutch had already been returned. It was more than she had hoped for and with her fair still searching she was sure many more would still be found. Chattering happily to herself the gold trotted over and nosed the eggs back towards their brothers and sisters. These two it seemed were less keen to stay together. She placed the blue painted egg with the two other newcomers and nudged the other into its own wallow. The happiness in the gold at her total sixteen eggs was obvious as she happily circled the clutch and made sure everything was perfect.

P'lias arrived with the egg he'd found in the Stands. He glanced at the gold 'lizard cautiously. For someone who has the whole Weyr doing her bidding.. she doesn't seem very happy. She is just worried, mine. Go, lay your egg before her. It will be fine. I know. Just make sure she doesn't.. bite me or anything. P'lias said. As a fisher, he had a lot of experience with firelizards, which they often used to help the fish. But he'd never had a female, much less a clutching one. He didn't know how agrresive they could be in protecting their young.
Carefully, he went up and laid [Egg 13] within her sight.

A small, quiet boy entered the hall, blue flitt round his shoulders, and dark egg in his hand. He lay the egg carefully before the mother, while Nimbus twittered a greeting. See? He helped find her egg. Wasn't she please with him?

Behind them came a father and son. As they approached the mother, the boy tugged on his father's sleeve. "I wanna give it to her!" he said excitedly. "Alright, alright. Here, but be careful." he told him. Navi approached the mother slowly and placed the egg near her nest. He hoped the rest of her eggs were found soon.

Wen walked into the dinning half and approached the queen flit, setting his burden carefully before her. "There you go darling." He glanced over at Jemi and waved, heading towards his watch partner and grinned. "Hey."
Jemi glanced up and smiled. "Hey," she replied and motion for him to sit.

"Hey! I have three of your eggs!" Ionan made his way towards the gold, beaming. "This one was in the kitchens," he said, setting down the egg that had been planted blue with yellow flowers. "And these two were in the barracks. Don't worry, they were kept warm! I found one under a pillow and the other under a cot. I took care of them." He set the two eggs down carefully. "See?"
He hoped all her eggs were returned. Gold firelizards really were just like gold dragons, he decided. Just smaller.

A few more trailed in on Ionan's heels. Z'ke, following his young friend, hung back and let the kid drop off the eggs he had found. Hopefully he took pride in knowing he'd done the right thing. Z'ke felt good looking at the amount of eggs the gold was now tending. It was a massive clutch and he couldn't doubt that most if not all had been returned. Riders really were good people at heart it seemed.
Z'fer placed his little egg with the rest, eyeing the larger eggs of the clutch greedily. If these didn't belong to someone else, you could be sure the young man would figure out a way to claim one of them for himself. Even if he had to wait for the clutch to hatch and put his chances on luring one to himself. If the flit did belong to someone that would be better. He had marks, he'd rather buy one outright (with maybe a discount for helping return a found egg rather than stealing it.)
Paige also returned her second one, whistling at the size of the clutch now. How exciting! Venaith's attention was diverted by the large hunk of meat she was still carefully chewing. She'd been admonished to chew only at the edges to avoid any bones that might be in there till Paige could get her hands on it, to not swallow anything unless she managed to work off some small scraps, and to keep the whole ordeal on the down low... basically don't let the Weyrlingmaster see her. In this instance, Paige would rather ask forgiveness than permission, but not having to do either would be better.

Lathis followed Paige in. She nodded with approval at all the eggs resting in the sands. The gold must be proud of her large clutch. "Here you go." She rested the egg within easy reach of the gold and backed off to watch a moment. Glancing around, she could see some others eagerly eyeing the eggs. Looks like it would be a looked forward to hatching. She grinned. The whole Weyr knew about this clutch. She'd bet anyone and everyone would show up.

Bacha held a warm egg, cradled carefully in her hands. She glanced nervously around at those standing around. Slowly the girl worked her way forward. "Oh," she breathed as she spotted the gold with her pile of eggs. Bacha went up and laid the egg on the sands and quickly backed away.
Plz ignore this.

Another human and another egg was returned. Feeling more optimistic about the situation the gold was less growley that she had been so far. Still, that didn't mean anyone was going to get a thank you or any such example of gratitude from her. They were her eggs, they should be returned to her. Walking over to P'lias' egg she placed a foreclaw on it's surface and nuzzled the painted shell. Oh dear, this one was a bit chilly. She pushed the egg towards the clutch and dug it a deep wallow, placing it inside and covering it back over with sand. There, that'd warm it up quickly.
The twittering of a firelizard caused the gold to turn her head, looking up at the blue around the boy's shoulders. Well what did he want? He was not part of her fair. She looked at the blue questioningly for a long while before eventually dismissing him with a shake of her head. Strange little thing. Still another egg back and that was good news to her. Though she wasn't keen on this egg's new colour scheme, she much preferred the way it used to look.
Her next visitor was rather small by human standards. Still at least that made him less of a threat to her clutch. She swooped over to the egg he had placed down and looked it over carefully. It did not seem to be hurt and that was a relief. The egg was small, thankfully, allowing the gold to hover over it and lift the egg back to her sandy trough. Placing the egg down she carefully positioned it so that it was nice and upright, nestled among the others.
Some of these humans were becoming very familiar to her. A male returned for the third time and place one of her eggs before her. Well wasn't he helpful for a human. His visit was brief and she appreciated him not standing around and eyeing up her eggs. These humans had been very helpful, but that did not mean that this firelizard was willing to trust them near her eggs just yet. Any wandering hands would soon be met with some very sharp teeth. Never mind what the rest of her and her fair could do to them.
Another small human appeared although this one was bigger than the first and certainly louder. He made lots of noise like the other humans did, but it was just as lost on the gold as before. Still he seemed no threat for the commotion he made, so she paced over and began moving the eggs nearer to the main bulk of the clutch. She nearly had them all returned to her, nearly. So close. Each egg in turn was nestled among the others and sand carefully arranged by her tiny claws to make sure they were secure and warm. She'd have to move them all again eventually to save them all from colliding, but that was a while off yet and they needed closeness and warmth most of all right now.
A new human appeared and placed down an egg. The gold looked up at him and grumbled, rustling her wings. She saw the way he looked at her eggs, she would not fall prey to thieves a second time. This human had best watch himself. She darted forward and rolled the garishly coloured egg further away from him. Better to get her little one away from this one and his wander eyes. The firelizard certainly didn't plan on letting this one out of her sights anytime soon.
Another familiar face appeared. The way the gold saw it too many had appeared with eggs for them all to have been the thieves. Perhaps these humans had found the thieves and known that such fine eggs could only be hers. Then again, it was possible that some of them were still the thieves and had tried to return the eggs so she would not suspect them. Very sneaky humans, very sneaky indeed. Well she would not be so easily fooled and so they were all still suspects. Even this one who returned a second egg to her. The trough was beginning to get a little crowded now and the gold took time to carefully place the egg so that it would not risk falling out.
Yet another face she recognised appeared on the heels of the first. Had they found the thieves together. No. No. Perhaps they were the thieves together. Oh these humans were tricksy. The human female backed off and the gold carefully dragged the egg back. This one was going to be a bit difficult to find the right space for and the gold had to pace around a while before she found the right spot squished in between a red egg with stars and a purple egg with stripes. Honestly these colours made the clutch a bit of a busy spectacle when they were all put together like this. So many colours and patterns, spots and stripes. It was a challenge.
An egg was placed amongst her clutch and the gold's head whipped around. That one had snuck up on her. It face was strange. Did the human know their face was leaking water? The mouth was an acceptable place for water to come from when one was hungry or to punctuate a well executed hiss, but the eyes were strange. Why was that happening? The gold was curious, but stayed where she was, she wouldn't get any closer to a human than was required and especially not one doing something she did not understand. Looking back at her clutch she did a quick headcount. Twenty-seven. That was nearly all of them. Only a handful were still missing and though she was worried about those ones it was wonderful to have this many back. She was exceptionally proud of her very large clutch. Very proud indeed.

Upon entering the cavern, Ryala noticed that others were bringing their finds over to an area where a gold flit waited, guarding the eggs that were left in her care. Or perhaps, returned was a better word. She certainly seemed to be possessive of the eggs, in a way that indicated that they were hers.
But the colors...! Who'd had the nerve to take the gold's eggs, and then paint them?
Walking over to the little queen, the redheaded girl gently placed the egg (#12) next to the others, thankful to see that so many others had also found their way back to their mother. Bowing politely to the golden one, she hoped that the flit knew that she'd had no part in the taking and recoloring of the eggs. She was rather glad that she'd been able to help to find one of the eggs, and bring it back to where it belonged, though.
Even if giving it up was one of the hardest things that she'd ever done.

Together with her human, now, Kleimeeth returned to the dining hall. This time it was Daimon who went up handed the egg over to its mother. But Kleimeeth was right behind him, wanting to make sure it was known that she'd helped.
