Jemi continued to search, methodically taking off the cushions and then replacing them before checking under the chairs. "Here eggies, eggies."
Irith snorted, the green's voice a dark grumble.
"Bite me," she replied cheerfully.

Jemi kept searching, slowly approaching Z'fers seat as she went through the chairs. Nope, no luck so far and she really wanted one of those flit eggs.

Rowan had been in the common room a while, and had observed the strange behaviour of those around him. The woman was obviously looking for something. Judging from what had happened before, he guessed it was a firelizard egg. But since when flitts scatter their eggs around the Weyr? He glanced underneath his own chair curiously. Just what was going on here? he wondered. Nimbus hadn't told him a thing about it, and didn't seem likely too, either, curled sleeping around the boy's shoulders.
But then, maybe it was hers and she'd mislaid it? Was that the egg the man had found before? He needed to get to the bottom of this.
He pulled out a piece of scrap leather and charcoal from his bag. Something his brother devised. Since he could wash the charcoal off, it saved on buying scrolls for him to write on. He just hoped the woman could read. There were plenty on Pern who couldn't, making his life all the more difficult. But then, all riders had to, right?
He went up and tapped the woman on the shoulder. 'What are you looking for?' he wrote.

Jemi paused looking back at the man who had tapped her shoulder. She lifted a brow and looked over the scroll. Ooh. Well then. "Someone hid a bunch of flit eggs all over the place, painted bright colors. We are trying to find them to return them to their mother. have you seen anything?"

Jemi sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "Finding flit eggs ended up being a lot more difficult then it has any reason to be." She checked under the chair as she waited for a response. "You can help me look if you want."

Z'fer cracked an eyelid open again and gave a loud, obvious sigh. "You sure are loud you know." He commented to the pair. It had been nice and quiet until the...wow she was a big girl wasn't she? Until she arrived.
"What's this about firelizard eggs?" If these were so sought after... maybe he ought to get in on it and nab one for himself after all. Iacauth huffed in his mind, but the greenrider was already unfolding his long legs and stretching like a cat before he stood from his chair.

"And you are an lazy bum," Jemi chirped continuing her search. "And if you hadn't been sleeping you would know all about it now wouldn't you." She huffed, flashing him a rather rude sign and continued her search.

Rowan put the writing surface away thoughtfully. So that was what happened. He guessed the other rider didn't steal the egg after all. Rowan nodded at her suggestion and immediately began helping her look behind chairs. From what little his sister had told him about firelizards, he knew that golds -unlike greens- were highly protective of their clutches. If the mother was gold, she would most certainly want her eggs back. If she was green, he doubted she would have noticed them missing in the first place.

Z'fer grinned, flashing teeth. "Perks of no longer being a weyrling." He'd noticed the woman's knots. Sure he didn't ride the bronze he'd imagined but no one could deny the fine superiority of his Iacauth. He wore the pride and conceit of a rider as easily as a cloak across his shoulders and her little insult wasn't enough to get under his skin so quickly.
The hand sign was just uncalled for though. Irriated, but determined to display his superiority, Z'fer held himself tall and straight and casually began to search-while-not-searching. He kicked at table and chair legs, nudged a rug with his toe, and casually peeked into a vase.

With the increasing noise, Nimbus woke with start from around the boy's neck and dug a claw into his shoulder to get his attention, alerting him to Z'fer, whom he'd missed. He turned just in time to see the woman's hand motion. He had no idea what they were arguing about, but he noticed the rider puffing up. Oh, this could only end poorly.. Siddling away, Rowan continued looking behind tables and chairs, hoping things wouldn't escalate beyond this.

Jemi snorted, giving Z'fer a smug look knowing she had climbed under his skin. She tossed her head, slightly ruined by the fact her hair was very short and kept searching. Men.

As she searched she stumbled on a rather elegant cream and purple egg. Jemi grinned, sharp and pleased and held out her prize. "Welp, I got what I came here for." She beamed, reaching out for Irith.
"Good luck looking."

Rowan waved a quick goodbye as he continued looking. He was glad she got what she wanted, but he figured there might be more eggs hidden around here, and he should keep looking.

Since Nimbus was awake, Rowan decided to put him to use. He pictured flitt eggs in his mind, remembered to add ridiculous colours, since they'd been painted and would likely look nothing like the eggs he was used to seeing when he visited his sister at work, then gave him the signal for 'Find' and pointed to the opposite side of the room.

Tch if it was so easy then why had she spent all that time banging about and disturbing his rest. At least the other kid had enough sense to stay quiet when a rider was sleeping. Z'fer poked about the room in a huff, side-eyeing Rowan and the way he directed his firelizard.
